Good stay to explore the vulcano area with lovely staff, but it really does need renovations.
Pros:

We had booked a few nights in Entre-Deux but realised it is a bit too far to explore the vulcano. So we changed our booking to Hotel L'Ecrin. Location wise it was perfect for the vulcano hike. The staff was very friendly and spoke english which helped so much and made the communication easier. The breakfast was totally fine, it covered everything from yoghurt, eggs, pastry, fruit, meat and cheese, coffee and thee. While we didn't use the hammam we did love the sauna after coming back from a cold and wet hike to warm up.
The hotel recommended the restaurant next door which has recently changed ownership - we loved it but good to know, there is a set menu (no a la carte menu) or questions about food requirements upfront, and you'll be sitting on a long table with other guests to socialize. Despite the language barrier, we had a great evening. It's a great community fostering concept if you're in the mood for it!

Cons:

The amenities and rooms do need some love and renovations as they clearly show signs of age and use.
Furthermore, this is no feedback for the hotel but good to know when you stay in the town of Bourg-Murat, the town itself is underwhelming. There is a couple of restaurants, a fuel station and the vulcano museum, that's it. For people who do the GR2 trail it is perfect as it is closed to the trail. but other than that there is not much.
