Pros:

Rooms are small and dark. No pool. Staff is very nice. Check in was easy and efficient. Not a great selection of TV channels or apps. I definitely would not stay here again.

Sort of Property I Would Consider Luxury
Pros:

This is perhaps the coolest Marriott property in all of the Bay Area. I stayed here a long time ago for work travel and with some very fond memories. Upon returning, I found this place is even cooler and more of a luxury hotel than I remembered it being.

They have a real and fully functioning M Club lounge which does close pretty late, but it was late enough in the day where me and my coworkers could escape to for a quiet evening chat.

The View bar upstairs is also a pretty cool area to check out also! Valet parking is outrageously expensive, but not surprising considering this is the 2nd most expensive real estate area in the USA.

The location is pretty convenient with easy access to Moscone Center and several restaurants in the area.

Comfort, comfort, comfort…I’ve never felt so comfortable and right at home in such a large hotel in the middle of a roar
Pros:

It’s hard to imagine that you could feel “at home” in a large hotel in the middle of a huge city but that’s the feeling I had from the very beginning of my experience at the Marriott Marquis Union Square. I’m not kidding when I say every single employee I interacted with was so kind and welcoming, from the valet to the check-in to the bellman to the waitresses at the View Lounge on the 39th floor, to the security guy out front who tutored us on how to schedule a Weymo pick-up. We also asked him how far Mel’s Diner was from the hotel and he literally walked us 50 ft down the block and pointed to Mel’s Diner, on the corner! I have to mention the beds were very comfortable, clean and fresh! Overall 10 out of 10 experience for me, I’ll definitely stay there again!

Cons:

Honestly I can’t think of anything!

Awful management
Pros:

Don’t even know where to begin when we checked in we saw that there was a lap in our reservation that they had us checking out on a Thursday and checking back in on a Friday and checking back out on a Saturday. Obviously that was a mistake we wouldn’t check out for one and check back in the next. The lady at the front desk caught it, which was great and she was super nicewas super nice and said she fix it for us. Even upgraded us because we’re platinum members. We were staying a total of five nights. Overall, hotel was very nice. The security and the bellhop were superb. So we drive down to Carmel on thr night the night that was originally messed up. We had made reservations six months ahead at a very nice restaurant. We got a phone call at 7 that we needed to come get our stuff out of the room I said what are you talking about we don’t check out until Friday. They saidno we have you checking out tonight. I said there is a mistake. The lady fixed it for us. We’re not checking out till Friday. They said sorry we’re sold out there there’s nothing we can. Do you need to come get your stuff now we need that room. We did not get to have our dinner reservations. We had to come back . We were basically homeless we had nowhere to go. They would not help us find a place at all. We even spoke with the manager, whichwas a man at that time.
Thank God, the Marriott courtyard manager at the fisherman’s wharf got us a room, even though they were sold out also we had to spin triple them out, but she took care of us. She was a real lifesaver. If not, we would’ve had nowhere to go. I personally called and asked to speak to the manager and she helped us. She couldn’t believe what they were doing to us either. They could’ve at least helpedus find someplace to go, but they didn’t. They did not care at all. They did try calling us three times afterwards after I called Marriott we were still on our vacation and our service was really bad. I called them back three other times and left messages and they would not return my phone calls at all no compensation we were out triple the price plus losing our dinner reservations at a restaurant I had made six months ahead. They were very unprofessional. The bell Hopkins security could not believe what they were doing to us they even had security escort as our room to make sure we were getting all of our stuff out. We felt like criminals. It was awful. I would never ever recommend this hotel due to the management. The hotel self great the other employees, great management awful and we got no kind of compensation at It was very heartbreaking specially since this is the first trip, we have taken by ourselves and several years and after my dad‘s death. In fact, the courtyard fisherman’s even opened up their kitchen to make us food since it was so late and we had not eaten plus, we were out all the money on a Uber to get over there. They didn’t even offer to pay for that..

Excellent hotel and staff, impacted street location
Pros:

Excellent hotel, a little slow on checkin, very good and helpful staff in all departments, top floor view is not to be missed. Street around the hotel can be a scene with wandering homeless but otherwise a 5 star property.

Nice hotel with a great gym
Pros:

Nice Marriott with excellent facilities. Gym is exceptional as is the bar(s). Only critiques would be breakfast buffet is expensive (~$45 without tip).

It close to a rough area of town (tenderloin) so I'd only advise staying here if it's near things you need to be close to e.g. Moscone centre but otherwise not many complaints.

No breakfast past 9am on a Sunday
Pros:

Valet had a 40 minute wait and stretched across mission. The lounge is effectively not open on Fridays and Saturdays except for the early morning and breakfast service on a Sunday is wrapped up at 9am. Valet is also $91 per day. Also no real benefits if you are titanium.

Avoid 3539 and 3639. Be careful of 3337.
Pros:

Titanium Elite, 8th hotel in two weeks. Have stayed here numerous times.

We started in Room 3539, a luxury two bath suite as booked with a view of Alcatraz. The suite is right next to a major electrical room and you can clearly hear the gears in the electrical room as the elevators go up and down. Even if you are a sound sleeper, you would hear the gears.

Manager Max suggested room 3639 which is also near an electrical room albeit slightly less noisy.

Room 3337: Smaller suite, one bath, with a noisy fan in the shower. Called the engineer to put a cardboard box over the fan which helped.

I cannot recall which room we stayed at in February but I believe it was in the 34 stack and that was a much better suite.

Excellent gym on the 4th floor.

Jessie Square parking garage is close, easy to navigate to, and use.

M Lounge is basic. Breakfast is scrambled eggs, two kinds of sausage, The usual pastries and oatmeal with fruit.

Avoid these business hotels
Pros:

During the Charlie Puth concert not too long ago, it was hard to get parking around the place. Parking is almost $100/night and you can't even get basic guidance to the venue and got sent in circles and told to speak with the front desk. When asked for directions from the front desk staff, the lady katie pointed to some one else to ask for help like it was the wrong department to ask if you live here and don't know where something is, how do you expect a person that's not from here to know? its a business hotel, and sure were not very well dressed like other people, but it felt discrimatory just to get simple directions.
