Room was moldy/ musty. The sheets felt wet it was so humid. It stunk, the air quality was terrible. We did move rooms day two. Way too expensive for a hotel room I would not stay in again if you paid me to stay in. Other rooms were similar. We had 3 rooms

It was a roof over our heads. It had a pool and breakfast food. The staff was stretched thin.
Pros:

Hubby loved the breakfast food. I loved the location. It was very easy to get to our destination. Dinner choices were very close and convenient. The size of the room was perfect for us.

Cons:

The parking was tight. It looked like there was only 1 lot with maybe 12 parking spaces. You have far more rooms than that. I also saw a bug coming out of the closet.

The location for my event was near by

The front desk manager was very rude. There was a customer in front of me and other gentlemen was also waiting, so I ask him are you in line and he replied yes. Once I said that to the gentlemen the front desk informed me that I need to stay to the side. While waiting the front desk ask her if she was a Hilton Honor member she replied she is not, the front desk gave her a bag with water and cookies. Then the next customer came up the desk, he got upgraded and also was given a goodie bag. Then I came up to the desk, I had 3 rooms got checked in and requested my goodie bag and she replied back to me that is only silver and gold members can have water. I will never stay at the Merrillville Hampton inn. They way I was treated was very unprofessional and I was very respectful. If I was alone, I would have canceled the room and slept in the car but had my whole family here to attend my grandmother funeral. I am serious considering to never stay at a Hilton property. If you want to discuss this in detail, please reach out.

Very put off
Pros:

I do not right reviews but I was so put off from this Hampton Inn that I felt I had to.
If this was a hotel of what I consider lower class in rank like a Quality Inn or a Days Inn then I would have not even bothered with a review, but seeing that I consider Hampton Inn a higher class, I am.
First thing I was happy to have a clean room and a clean bed to stay in with all the basic necessities that this rank of hotel should have. What I was not happy with was, the pathetic quality the continental breakfast had. The orange juice tasted rotten, the oatmeal poorly prepared and on the second day I stayed, it way too salty and the potatoes were tasteless.
I understand the hotel was going through a renovation for it was ran down quite a bit, and I hope that it does live up to the name it carries, but to have such poor quality in one of the amenities it provides? That is the reason why I chose this hotel. Of all the Hamptons I have stayed in, this was the worst.

Disappointing
Pros:

Disappointing! Although under construction there is no excuse for general filth! The floors could have been vacuumed, there was debris on the bathroom floor and the stair well rails were marginal. All that and we were overcharged. We booked on line and paid 3x what we would have had we booked on the trip advisor site. Hampton Inn should be embarrassed to have their name on this building! Not typical of Hampton Inns.

Never Happened. Hampton Inn cancelled with no explanation.
Pros:

Nothing!

Cons:

They cancelled my reservation without giving me a notice. The 2 front desk employees lied to me. Said they called a manager but he wouldn't come down. They didn't answer any questions and just walked away.

Adequate but we expected more quality for the price.
Pros:

Location was good for us.

Cons:

Front desk lady had a medical issue and couldn't speak above a whisper. An added on $50 deposit was unexpected, and won't be adjusted off my c card for days. Room was very noisy Outside our door mostly from the ice machine, and staff working.

It was a place to hang out heads for a night.
Pros:

The location was good, the traffic near the entrance was terrible. Not even a can of soda on the hotel site.

Cons:

The breakfast area was packed with male workers from somewhere. Super noisy, couldn't enjoy the average breakfast.

Pros:

The hotel is very well located to the place I was heading to, The breakfast is also very good, the swimming pool and the gym are also very nice.

Cons:

The air conditioner is noisy and the fridge as well. For light sleepers like me it would be an issue, the bed could be a bit more soft in my opinion. But the experience in all is positive.
