Not a heavenly mattress at 10 years old!
Pros:

On a business trip from Vegas and as a loyal Hilton customer, chose this location to wake up to the boats before heading back.
Staff is great, but the rooms and hotel lobby are outdated and haven't been cared for in many years.
Scuffs on every wall in the room, dents on furniture, stains on the carpet, bar stools and lamp shades.
The kicker? The mattress is 10 years old and felt like it was 20... This room sees a lot of cruise travelers.
Be prepared for lots of fees, but a great view if you pay extra for it.
Would never stay here again if I need a good night's sleep.
Do better! This isn't the level of service we are used to at a Hilton property!

Great spot for pre cruise stay
Pros:

This hotel is perfect for your pre cruise stay. Minutes from port on free shuttle makes it ideal for a place to stay before your cruise from the port of Los Angeles. Check in was quick and painless. Shuttle bus to port requires signing up with time slots so no over crowding and human pushiness to get to port. Shuttle runs about every 30 min. Rooms are comfortable and clean. Only complaint is the charge for coffee at the breakfast bar.

Doubletree by Hilton San Pedro, CA
Pros:

Booked this hotel for a night before a cruise. The hotel was really a surprise. There is a small restaurant and it helped that they had the NFL playoff games on! The room was very nice, the staff at checkin/out was very friendly and efficient. Beds the most comfortable I have ever had staying in a hotel and there was a free shuttle to the cruiseport. The only negatives were the breakfast in the morning, only a buffet was available and I only eat toast or fruit in the morning so I suggest you bring something with you if you can't eat the buffet or don't want to pay $15. for some fruit and the restaurant staff didn't seem to know what they were doing. It was impossible to get waited on and 4 of the staff were just 'looking' busy, playing with the silverware or slips of paper. I do recommend this hotel beautiful view of the marina if you get there early in the day

Never Again
Pros:

Booked this hotel before a cruise, for location and shuttle service. The hotel is showing age, but is clean. Called ahead for a shuttle reservation, but they only reserve when you arrive, which was mid afternoon. Had my choice of the 8 AM or a shuttle after 1PM. REALLY!! We took the 8AM and STOOD at the dock for 2HOURS. This hotel was full of guests headed for a cruise, this service needs massive improvement (maybe a bigger van?)
There are no restaurants nearby, and they know it. They do have a restaurant in house. Had Taco Tuesday, chips (all 4 of them) and salsa, with 3 appetizer sized tacos for the "special" ,not worth it. They automatically add 20% tip to the bill, probably the only way they would get tipped as the service was lousy. Suggest order pizza or other food for delivery.
For breakfast, they only had a 21.95 buffet, fair. also added 20% tip for the waiter to tell us where they buffet was and bring the bill. REALLY!!
Stay at Hiltons all the, but this one is OFF THE LIST. Never again...

Terrible
Pros:

Just checked in, we booked the hotel for the shuttle to the cruise port. I called before we got there and asked about reserving, they said we could only reserve upon check in. Well we get here, and the only shuttle left is, for 8:30 am. This is super frustrating as no one has ever boarded a cruise at 8:30 in the morning. We had a late flight into LA, thus why I called a day ahead of time to ask. Then we get to the hotel, try to have some dinner… o my gosh absolutely the most disgusting food I have in my entire life. $90 for some frozen pizza! The room appears to be okay clean wise, but had a bad smell, and also no towels. Would not recommend or stay here again.

Right before our cruise
Pros:

We chose this hotel because it was close to the pier where we would take our cruise the next day. There is a shuttle that takes the you to your cruise for free.

The rooms were a bit old and the carper and furniture showed some wear and tear. The bed was comfortable.

Restaurant: The food at the restaurant was a bit expensive but good. If you go right before a cruise things are busy and you might have to wait sometime before you get a table.

Beware of the name rating!!
Pros:

Where to start...we returned from a cruise to the hotel we had stayed out the week prior and left our car. We knew we would have to wait to check in, but 4 hours was a little too much, then our 5 star room was rundown with chipped drawers, cracked counters and NO toilet paper dispenser!! We went down to have dinner and went to the bar for a drink first and were greeted 3 times by a harried bartender more involved in picking up beer bottles from the boisterous Seattle fans than even taking our order, so we moved to as table! The food was very good and we could have enjoyed it had we been able to hear over the slamming of the plates and silverware that the hostess loaded in boxes right nest to us!! Still trying to figure out who trained these 5 star employees and rated the room to charge what they charge!!

Disappointing and Poorly Maintained Stay
Pros:

I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton San Pedro – Port of Los Angeles from January 17 to January 18, 2026, while traveling from Las Vegas with my family, and unfortunately this was one of the worst hotel experiences we’ve had.

From the moment we entered the room, it was clear that cleanliness and maintenance were major issues. The room was not properly cleaned – there was visible dirt and marks on the walls, dust in different areas, and the overall condition felt neglected and uncomfortable. It definitely did not feel like a room that had been prepared for new guests.

The bathroom was also a problem. The restroom door would not close at all, which was both inconvenient and awkward. This is a basic function that should be checked before a room is given to guests.

The room setup was poorly done. The refrigerator was left off to the side instead of in its proper place, making the room look disorganized. Several electrical outlets did not work, including the ones by the bed, so I wasn’t even able to charge my phone where it was most convenient. For travelers, working outlets are essential, and this was very frustrating.

We also requested room service, and it took a very long time to receive any assistance. There was no urgency or concern shown about the issues we were experiencing.

For the price we paid, the quality was extremely disappointing. I chose this hotel because I trust the Hilton brand, but this location did not live up to those standards at all. Cleanliness, maintenance, and service were all below expectations.

I would not recommend this hotel and would not stay here again.

Good Location....... but there were issues
Pros:

The good:

- The cost for the room was good

- wonderful visual location next to the harbor

- room was clean and presentable

The bad
- generally the lobby staff were just OK. The rooms were ready JUST before 4 pm. When we tried to check in early, we were told that they would be ready in 15-20 minutes for 2 hours. Do what you say and don't placate people.

- The lobby ( serves as the dining room also) has plenty of room for more chairs and tables w/o crowding. During breakfast and dinner, anticipate and hour before you are seated to eat. There are plenty of extra chairs and tables in the locked conference room area next to the lobby.

- The mini store items are way out of sight in pricing... a bottle of water $9. and then after you buy it they will offer another person a free bottle at the desk. The same place you pay for the $9 dollar one.

- Look at you bill at the bar / food area...... automatic gratuity of 20% even if the service level is terrible. - with out a car there is not much for food alternatives close by.

Based on the positives and negatives...

- They need a new problem solving general manager and management team.

- We will not return until we see that these issues are fixed and reviews show it.

-The main reason we gave it 3 stars is the rooms were clean and great visual location.

Very Convenient
Pros:

You cannot beat the convenience of this hotel if you’re catching a cruise—it’s right at the marina! While it is an older property (meaning fewer power outlets and a tricky AC unit), the cleanliness was top-notch.
The check-in was fast and efficient, and the warm chocolate chip cookies were a great touch. What really stood out was the service; after I struggled with the weak Wi-Fi and the AC, I received a thoughtful welcome text and a follow-up call to make sure everything was resolved.
It’s rare to find a staff this proactive. If you want a stress-free, clean, and friendly spot before your cruise, this is it!

Never Again
Pros:

I have stayed at this hotel three times over the last two years. Most recently, before and after a seven day cruise. Our experience during our last stay is still unresolved. Our credit card was charged for a meal and drinks that we are still in the process of disputing. Today, after four attempts on our end we have finally gotten a response.

The most insulting part of this experience is that the day of the disputed charge we were standing in pouring rain waiting for a shuttle. After about 45 minutes I made it on to one shuttle bus but my husband continued to wait for the next one for an additional hour. We were both soaking wet when we arrived to the hotel.

I cannot recommend this hotel. They do not return calls, they have been most unhelpful. The friends we were traveling with also had issues with billing.

If you go to this hotel you must keep every receipt and be tenacious in getting things resolved. Good luck.

Hesitate to come back
Pros:

Minimum amenities. One chair only in a double bed room. One bed stand between beds. Bathroom door hardly close. The whole establishment smells lightly sulfur, considering it’s a water front with constant breeze. Table light on and off require quite tricks. Six towels total. The entire couple of hundred room hotel shared a single guest microwave. Issues go on and on. Parking lot barely hold on not failing apart, charge $25 additional per day. Staff are okay, polite.

Tired Property
Pros:

Stayed here because of the proximity to the port, as we were cruising the next day. Staff was friendly and the food was good. The condition of the property is not up to Hilton standards as there is much deferred maintenance. Carpet in room was a mess with a makeshift repair(photo). Wallpaper above window was peeling(photo). Strange blue sticky stuff on toilet(photo). HVAC vent in elevator lobby covered in black gunk(photo).
This was the worst Hilton property we have ever stayed in. Place needs a complete refurb.

Not the best Hilton hotel
Pros:

The room was clean but had some issues short of Hilton quality. There is no microwave, there is a sliding decrepit door between the bathroom and room. The shower curtain was flimsy and the sink drain stank. The tv had few stations. There is no breakfast offered. They advertise warm cookies but not offered unless you ask.

Two nights before Cruise
Pros:

First Impressions:
The staff we’ve encountered have been absolutely amazing — from check-in to the lounge, everyone has been friendly and helpful.

Highlights:
This hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to the cruise port, and they’ll also drive you to places like Target, Vons, or nearby restaurants for free — a really nice touch.

What Could Be Better:
The hotel itself could use a refresh. The rooms would benefit from replacing the old carpet, which has an odor. The pillows and duvet constantly shed feathers, and I did spot a few bugs. Screens on the windows would also be great so guests can enjoy fresh air.

Overall:
It’s the personality and kindness of the staff that truly make this a positive experience, even with the room’s shortcomings.

Easy parking
Pros:

Quiet with a large parking lot. The cookies are of course nice. Rooms were spacious enough. We actually found the place to be clean and quiet but nothing was overtly special. We were surprised that even we are Hilton Honors Silver level, there was no complimentary water because we booked with Expedia.
