Okay but not great.
Pros:

Great location

Cons:

No parking. The bed was only a double. The door did not close easily. The toilet seat was loose.. Was charged for a breakfast I didn’t have (they are refunding)

Luckily it was only for 1 night. I would not choose to stay at this hotel again.
Cons:

The pool area was dirty and not overly inviting. It was very cramped. For a distination like Cairns, the pool is a critical facility.
The rooms were not very sound proof. We were on the first floor and could hear a lot of noise from surrounding rooms.
The view from the room was terrible - into a carpark.
The bathroom was extremely cramped. I could hardly close the door when trying to get to the toilet. If I had been an extremely overweight person, I would not have fit.

We had a comfortable stay and staff were friendly
Pros:

Excellent location especially for families. Less than a 5 min walk to Aquarium, esplanade, many food options and an excellent playground.

Desk staff were friendly if approached, reception area lovely and bright. Housekeeping staff very smiley and welcoming when we crossed paths.

Nice having a coffee machine in room, esp w kids having very early starts.

Cons:

Bathroom not cleaned well prior to check in - lots of hair etc both in shower and on bthrm floor.

Kids TV didn't work at check in however maintenance repaired this day 2 on request.

My main disappointment was not having a toaster in the family room. I bkd here knowing our kids would be up at 4-5am (time diff) wanting breakfast. I wish I'd read reviews as this is a common complaint going back 2+ years.

Definitely a 3 star, not a 4 star.
Pros:

Nice pool and good breakfast

Cons:

Dated. Bad WiFi. No plugs by the bed to charge phones, fixtures in room broken. Not allowed to turn aircon below 24 degrees!

Disturbed sleep
Pros:

Everything was perfect except for a noise that was going off outside the door from 130am

Cons:

A noise outside the room door that went off for 10min getting louder and louder from 130am and then went off and started again every 30 mins.

Won’t stay at any mercure hotels in future
Pros:

Cancelled our stay as we pulled up outside in a taxi , said it was overbooked and blamed booking.com , in reality when our flight was cancelled jetstar booked up all the rooms

Cons:

La colazione è migliorabile. mi aspettavo un buffet stile continental, invece c'erano poche cose a disposizione e il resto era da ordinare.. nonistante ciò , è una struttura che consiglio molto.
