Lovely property nested in San José, easy to get picked up from, close to the airport, great staff attention.
The staff was amazing and very helpful. The hotel is cozy and has a lot of character.
good.
We stayed one night after we landed in San Jose. This is a traditional hotel, comfortable, central and with very friendly and helpful reception staff.
Be prepared to drive in circles to find the hotel. Once you do, it’s hard to find a safe place to park. The hotel recommends a place and it cost you 14$ to park.
Breakfast was terrible. There was no food other than some watermelon. Coffee was scarce and you’re lucky if you get a cup.
Oh watched the cooks sit there eating while the guests sat there with nothing.
Nice house turned into a hotel, about a 10-minute walk to the center. My room was spacious with a decent bathroom and a small garden, but no chair, which was a bit inconvenient. It was right next to the stairs, so I could hear people and noise from the next room. Train noise was noticeable but didn’t bother me much. Staff speak mostly Spanish, so communication was a bit tricky. Breakfast wasn't ready on time, and they don’t offer anything if you leave early for a tour. At checkout, no one was at reception, I had to find someone to help me. Overall, it’s a charming place, but a few service issues to be aware of.
Very nice older building made into a hotel with comfortable room and a great breakfast
Wonderful breakfast, kind & friendly service, very clean, quiet, comfortable.
Excellent and cozy hotel, beautiful and cozy. Great breakfast and very nice staff.
It was an easy process. Breakfast was delicious. Nice rooms.
Great property. She must have been been magnificent in her prime
Every room in this hotel is unique. It is in a great location to walk around the downtown and explore the National museum. There are some great restaurants nearby. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Literally never at the front desk. No one answers the phone neither.
Really nice place, rooms are small but you can go reading or discuss in the many places in the hôtel (cozy places) or on the little common terrasse. Clean place. Easy to walk from the hôtel to many places in the center of San José.
The staff were lovely and warm, the traditional breakfast was delicious but the property is situated right next to a railway track. The noise of the constant trains, barking dogs and loud motorbikes spoils the overall stay. And then there is the coffee machine on a table but no electrical socket to plug it in so you have to carry it to the side of the bed or the bathroom 🙄 And the price of a small bottle of water that you easily mistake as complimentary was the price of a taxi across town. Hmmmm
We were upgraded and so the experience was a lot better than the first time we stayed there. Very good breakfast. Very good location. Staff a little muddled.
The property is in a good location as it is walking distance to the National Museum, National Park, Plaza De La Cultura and other points of interest in San Jose.
However, the facility is too close to the train track. As a result the noise level is too loud and train runs early in the morning affecting ability to sleep in a bit.
Interesting/ cute hotel, good location, can walk to museums, shopping
Was a beautiful place old and dated but loved that but our toilet didnt work properly even though we did not put toilet paper down. We were on the third floor and was quite the trek with 2 heavy pieces of luggage as there is no elevator. Staff was friendly but the area is sketchy.
