Stay SAKURA Kyoto Gion North

Let me start by saying that there was absolutely nothing good about our stay at Stay Sakura Gion North Kyoto.

We booked this property with very high expectations because our first stay in Tokyo had been wonderful, and the reviews for Stay Sakura were extremely positive. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing.

First, the location was very inconvenient. Reaching Kyoto Station required multiple train changes, which became especially difficult while traveling with luggage and a baby.

The property itself was far from comfortable. The check-in area was tiny and poorly organized. The room design was extremely impractical — the space was so cramped that even two adults could barely move around properly. Multiple times during our stay, we bumped into parts of the room, including the TV and furniture, simply because there was so little walking space.

The bathroom was also extremely small and uncomfortable to use.

The washing machine experience was terrible. We tried washing clothes twice using the laundry pods provided by the hotel, but the pods did not dissolve properly and actually left our clothes in worse condition than before.

The kitchen was technically functional, but very poorly equipped. There were no proper utensils or crockery provided — only a couple of tiny plates, two spoons, and two forks. No bowls, no proper dishes, and nothing suitable for comfortably having meals in the room.

Storage was another major issue. There were no cupboards, no hanging space for clothes, and not even a proper area to keep suitcases.

Overall, this was a genuinely unpleasant experience, and I would strongly not recommend Stay Sakura Gion North Kyoto to anyone looking for a comfortable stay in Kyoto.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The location is absolutely perfect — close to everything, making it super easy to explore the city. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. Everyone made me feel very welcome, which made the experience even more special. I would definitely stay here again!

Great location and a great room with a kitchenette and a bathroom.

The room was very clean and everything was to our satisfaction. The location is also very convenient, with everything close by. I would definitely recommend this accommodation and would gladly stay here again in the future.

Location and facilities were excellent with comfortable bed, powerful shower, a washing machine in the apartment and the bathroom could be used as a drying room.

Gut gelegen um sich z.B. das Geisha/Gion Viertel/den Yasaka Schrein auch nachts anzuschauen. Bus auch direkt vor der Haustür. Das Personal war sehr nett.
War zufrieden.
Gerne wieder.

設備がいいです。キッチン、洗濯機、食器、洗剤等必要なものがあり、部屋もきれいで、お風呂にはテレビもあり、部屋もお風呂も快適ですごくよかったです。

Comfortable and well equipped - washing machine, small kitchen, bathroom that doubles as a drying room (which was fantastic!). The staff were kind and helpful where they could be e.g. printing documents and storing luggage.
