We stayed at the Hilton for a couple of nights in a double room. The room was spacious and the hotel has valet parking which was convenient. The hotel is close to all the amenities about a 10 minute walk from the beach. Hotel staff were friendly the lobby and rooms were all clean
Overall, I would recommend staying at this hotel, just two blocks from the Pier, with plenty of restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. The hotel itself is nice, although it does feel a bit worn in some areas. I was told it was new, but you can tell it hasn’t been maintained as well as it could be—there were some stains and marks in the bathroom.
The beds and the pillows are amazing. As for parking, I did some research beforehand and found a parking garage directly across the street, which was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. Most hotels in the area—including this one—charge around $60 USD per day for parking. The overnight rate at the garage was $14 USD, which felt like a major win.
Veronica, at the front desk was over the top kind and welcoming and out of her way helpful - from helping with hotel services to advice about the area, things to do and see, places to eat, she was the best. I was there for 13 nights while my husband was hospitalized at UCLA Santa Monica. I felt so welcome and supported. Thank you, Veronica!
The Santa Monica Hilton is a great hotel. While not new, it is very refreshed and everything worked as expected - something not too common in too many hotels.
Check-in was quick and the staff was efficient. We had two rooms:
The king room was spacious and comfortable, with plenty of drawer storage, and a closet, as well as a roomy safe. The second room with two queens was very cramped. No drawers with barely any room for two people to unpack.
The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were modern with a great flow from the showers. There was some noise seeping across rooms - a loud kid offered a 4am wakeup.
The hotel is located in an efficient, but not very scenic address. It is walkable to downtown Santa Monica and the beach, as well as Santa Monica's charming Main Street. You are also right off of the 10 Freeway, offering access to anywhere in LA within a simple drive.
What is important is to read what other reviewers said and park directly across the street in the municipal parking lot. That will save you $30-40 a day as the hotel charges a staggering $55/day for the joy of parking your car.
The hotel offers a small pool on a lovely deck.
In short, this is a great, solid hotel to have as a basecamp for your visit to LA.
We had a fantastic experience at Hilton Santa Monica as a family traveling with our 14-month-old baby. The team was incredibly accommodating and helped us get a suite with a bathtub, which made bath time and bedtime so much easier for us.
A special shoutout to Pablo—his service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. He really made our stay even better.
From check-in to everyday service, everything felt smooth and welcoming. Even the valet team was great—efficient and professional, which added a lot to the overall experience.
We truly had a wonderful stay and highly recommend Hilton Santa Monica to families with young kids!
We had a one bedroom suite with 2 double beds. It was very spacious, the beds were super comfortable and the service was great. the staff were very friendly and helpful and there is a small amenities and food store which was very convenient.
The location is great, the staff is great and the valet is on point and the stay was good. The pool is serviceable, the gym is good, the breakfast is good and reasonable in price especially for a hotel. The rooms were pretty clean, but the tub seemed to need some work and the HVAC system was inconsistent. The rooms were average in quietness. Don’t get a room in the atrium area, near the gym or near the laundry. Get a room down the one wing that extends off the atrium. The doors will still close loudly. If we make a return visit, we will adjust our room location.
Great hotel and location. Huge rooms plenty of space. Visiting from the uk so wanted a local base to all the amenities. Will stay here again.
My sister and I were in Santa Monica for 5 day get away. We stayed at the Shore Hotel by the pier the 1st 2 days then switched to the Hilton. I have to say I love this WAY more! It is BEAUTIFUL and still close to all the cool things to do!
My family and I stayed at this hotel at the end of October and, unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. I had previously stayed here in May for business and enjoyed it enough to return for a family holiday. Sadly, this visit did not meet the same standard.
Early in our stay, we noticed that a bottle of whisky my husband had brought from the airport appeared to be going down far faster than expected. To be certain, we took a photo before leaving for a day trip—only to return and find even more missing. I reported this immediately to the hotel manager and was assured it would be investigated. Despite following up twice, we received no clear resolution or apology. It was a very uncomfortable situation that overshadowed the rest of our holiday and left us worried about the security of our belongings.
At checkout, the receptionist informed us that only the maid had accessed our room, but nothing further was offered in terms of explanation or compensation. Given Hilton’s reputation as a premium brand, I expected a higher level of professionalism and accountability.
Additionally, our room faced a school where a marching band practiced every weekday at 7:15 a.m.—something guests should be warned about in advance. We were also surprised to find two unexpected internet charges that had not been mentioned at checkout.
Overall, this stay fell far short of expectations. I truly hope Hilton addresses these issues to restore confidence in the quality and integrity of their service.
We had 2 separate rooms for our family. Although they are very comfortable beds, one of our party had to change rooms at 1 oclock in the morning because they had been given a room on the 4th floor right next to the air conditioning units. The noise was like being stuck on a plane next to the engine, making sleep impossible. So that ruined his good nights sleep. Our room on the 3rd floor was fine.
We were a 15 minute straight forward walk to Santa Monica pier.
There is a small rooftop pool with loungers and towels are provided.
The young barman was very helpful when we asked for directions to a local restaurant, him and another guest strongly advised we didn't walk, but to take an uber. Glad we took his advice.
We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel because it wasn't included in the room rate, but was an extra $30 per person.
Would I recommend the hotel? .........probably not. It was clean, comfortable and local to what we needed, but also very expensive
Loved our quiet room on the 5th floor as pre-requested. Welcome from reception to room service was very good. Restaurant food and staff were very good. Water is available to source at a few locations in the hotel. Beds were very comfort.
Location was excellent and only 3 streets away from the pier and there’s a Starbucks 1 street away🙂.
PARKING!!!! There’s a municipal car park across the road and you won’t get a better deal anywhere else in the area.
Really enjoyed our stay
Private Hire car & Concierge assistance.
We had 3 hours to kill after checking out on our last day so we booked a car and driver from Concierge.
The car was immaculately kept and the driver (Chuck) was not only an excellent driver, his local knowledge was very informative.
He dropped us off at the doors of the airport ( we didn’t need to catch the airport transfer from the ride share or taxi rank) this is a great service.
Very professional and a great way to finish our stay in Santa Monica.
Concierge were excellent during our stay, they recommended dining experiences that exceeded our expectations ( the best was North Italia).
The Hotel was conveniently located and the amenities were all well kept.
Kim & Tom from Australia
