So glad I only had to stay one night. If I had to stay longer, I would have moved immediately.
Don't be fooled. This hotel is old, dark and damp. We came in town for a family wedding and so glad I only had to stay one night. Here are the concerns:
.
1. Room - the room was smelly (a faint smoke smell covered up with air freshener, that was throughout the entire hotel). I had to turn on the air just to move the air around in the room so that I could stay in the room.
2. Cleanliness - So glad I only stayed one night. Be warned that they have a sign by check in that indicates housekeeping does a 'refresh' cleaning on Day 3 of your stay and only cleans on Day 5. What? And the deep clean is questionable. My bathroom had various traces of other folks' hair. And, the corners and behind the toilet do not look like they've been cleaned in weeks.
3. The furniture in my room was old and stained.
4. The area around the hotel has a lot of restaurants and shopping. Note, there are also a lot of individuals at the corners, including right outside the hotel, who are asking for money. So, depending on your comfort level with that, it's something to keep in mind.
The hotel obviously did some minor upgrades on outside of the hotel and in the lobby, but all of that is a facade to hide this old, dusty, unappealing hotel. The people were also fine - nothing stood out good nor bad.
Being a Marriott Bonvoy member, I couldn't believe this hotel was quality enough to be a Marriott.
Location, cleanliness, great room!

i’m a Lifetime Platinum Elite member and stayed one night at the Courtyard by Marriott Greensboro (5/16–5/17). Unfortunately, this was one of the worst Marriott experiences I’ve had.
I completed mobile check-in the day before and selected a 1 PM arrival. When I arrived at 1 PM, no one was at the front desk. After waiting, a staff member came out and, without even checking the system, immediately said there were no rooms available until 3 PM. The tone and attitude were dismissive from the start.
We returned at 3 PM and were checked in by the same employee, who maintained the same unfriendly demeanor. There was no acknowledgment of my Lifetime Platinum Elite status, no explanation of benefits, and no offer of the standard welcome choice (points or breakfast credit). When I asked where breakfast was served, she sarcastically raised both arms and pointed toward the bistro.
Later, we went to the gym and found that only 1 out of 4 treadmills was working. When I called the front desk, the employee responded with a “so what” attitude and offered no apology—just said he’d “make a note” for the manager.
The following morning, I stood at the bistro for several minutes with no staff present. I could clearly see the same front desk employee nearby, and it appeared she saw me but chose not to assist. After waiting 3–5 minutes, I approached her and asked if anyone was working the bistro. Without even looking up, she said she would get someone.
Overall, the customer service at this property was consistently poor and unprofessional. As a loyal Marriott member, this experience was very disappointing. I would strongly consider staying at the nearby SpringHill Suites instead.
Clean and friendly
The Staff. Lindsey was very nice
No one was there for me to check out

I've stayed at this hotel once a month for about a year over a weekend. Sometimes, there are tons of sports teams there and it's super noisy all night long - ask for a room on a floor without sports teams. The last 2 visits, the Bistro has only been open for breakfast. The clerk told me business is terrible and not worth keeping the Bistro open. Fortunately, the restaurant across the parking lot is very good - used to be Tripps and now it's Creekstone Bar & Grille. The hotel started charging for parking on Jan. 1, 2026 - $6/day - and didn't tell anyone. They've also started to use "dynamic" pricing - meaning they change (AKA increase) your room rate if their occupancy is too low even if you've booked a fixed rate online as a Bonvoy member. So, although the hotel is decent, just be aware they're really starting to squeeze customers due to slow business. It is a corporate owned Marriott - not a franchise - so that does help keep the standards up a bit.
The Marriott online reservation system does a poor job in publishing the room rate for a multiple night stay. You think you are paying $117 a night but that is not correct as that is the first night stay. They then jack up the rate to $156 which they don't say specifically but they give you the total for the stay which includes taxes. All on top of they don't clean your room every day. COVID is over, go back to cleaning the rooms EVERY night. Such poor service and I'm a Lifetime Titanium Elite level in Marriott Bonvoy.
