Pros:

Wir waren 3 Frauen aus Deutschland , hatten einen Zwischenstopp in diesem Hotel für 2 Nächte , es war einfach umwerfend in diesen Penthaus 👍🏼das ganze Hotelpersonal super freundlich , sehr gutes Essen. 👍🏼👍🏼

Es war ein rundum toller Aufenthalt. Leckeres Essen, sehr gutes Frühstück und der Service war super. Wir hatten eine Penthousewohnung mit Whirlpool. Einfach alles toll.

A truly exceptional hotel with exceptional people. We cannot wait to return!
Pros:

We stayed at The Houghton Hotel twice within the same week, and honestly, the second stay was even better than the first.

We initially arrived late and stayed for two nights. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the General Manager, Jake, went above and beyond to make our stay special. We enjoyed the hotel so much that, when it was time to leave, we actually cancelled our reservation at another hotel and decided to come back to The Houghton instead. It was one of the best decisions we made on our trip.

When we returned, everyone remembered us and made us feel genuinely welcomed back. Upon arrival, we were greeted with flowers and champagne, which was such a thoughtful and personal touch. The level of service throughout our stay was exceptional, and Jake was always checking in to make sure everything was perfect. Even when we were checking out, he personally made sure that we had enjoyed our stay and that everything had been taken care of.

The rooms are fantastic, but the suites are on another level. We treated ourselves to the Presidential Suite with its own pool and hot tub, and it was absolutely spectacular. It was luxurious, spacious, beautifully designed, and the perfect place to relax.

What really sets The Houghton apart, though, is the people. The entire team made us feel special, and Jake’s genuine attention to detail and commitment to making sure guests have an incredible experience was remarkable.

We have stayed at some wonderful hotels around the world, but The Houghton stands out. I would genuinely go back to Johannesburg just to stay at The Houghton again.

Average. Don’t feel that we will return.
Pros:

The breakfast staff were friendly and welcoming, and we really appreciated their service.

Cons:

Unfortunately, the reception experience was very different. From the moment we arrived, the welcome felt cold and almost as though the staff were doing us a favour. This was noticeably different from our previous experience.

The jacuzzi was also extremely hot and impossible to use comfortably. When we raised the issue, we were told that guests are not allowed to use the jacuzzi after 10pm. We understand and respect that rule, but it did not address the actual concern, which was the excessive water temperature. As the jacuzzi formed part of the package we paid for, it was disappointing that the temperature did not seem to be properly controlled.

Très bon hôtel, je recommande
Pros:

L’accueil était bien, avec coupe de champagne à l’arrivée.
Les installations (spa, piscine intérieure et extérieure) sont très biens.
Le buffet petit déjeuner était très bon, avec du choix varié. Le personnel est agréable et serviable.
Le restaurant Nova Bistrot est bien, avec un rapport qualité prix correct.

Cons:

La propreté de la piscine intérieure, en raison de l’absence de douche de ce côté.
Le sauna et la hammam sont un peu éloigné de la piscine intérieure.
