Breakfast area faced the seafront, food freshly cooked and staff serving friendly and helpful even though we were last in.
Having a car available to navigate the hilly terrain..
We had a fantastic view of the sea and beach from our room. Membly Hall is a nice hotel with lots of character — three storeys, two buildings together, built in the 1950s. Our room and bathroom were clean, with towels changed, bins emptied and beds made daily. Kettle, cups, biscuits, sugar, free Wi-Fi and room service are provided.
The staff and manager were so polite, kind and helpful and genuinely made you feel at home. One of our rooms hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived at 3.30pm, but the manager personally sorted it within an hour and refunded us one night for the inconvenience, which I thought was a really kind and fair gesture.
Breakfast was lush, with a cold buffet and hot menu. We had the same table every morning with a gorgeous sea view. The dining area is lovely and spacious, and the quirky lounge had a chatty, friendly barman. There’s also a lovely extension with rattan furniture overlooking the sea. The hotel has a very family-orientated atmosphere and the guests were lovely too. There were also lots of day trips available, particularly for OAPs.
The location is fantastic. Gyllyngvase Beach is a 2-minute walk away, with Gyllyngvase Café right on the beach and perfect for rock pooling. Princess Pavilion is also around 2 minutes up the road, with beautiful gardens, a sea-view point, bandstand and Broadway shows.
The town centre is a lovely 20-minute walk with independent shops and loads of places to eat. We loved Indidog in the town centre, right by the harbour, with a spectacular view and mostly seafood.
The harbour has the huge Falklands ship Argus, now decommissioned and brought back to Falmouth for recycling. Just a little history lesson — it once held 100 hospital beds, 9 helicopters and around 200 nursing personnel. From Falmouth Pier, the "taxi" boats look like a bus stop, but obviously the "bus" is a boat! They take you to various nearby destinations.
Trebah Gardens is around 20 minutes away and I absolutely loved it.
The hotel is an older property, so some carpets need updating. The bathroom is clean but dated, with a low ceiling over the corner bath, no towel/body scrub hooks and a mixer-tap shower. There’s no fridge and limited, low-positioned sockets, so an extension lead is useful. The lift is very small. There’s no air-con, so my room was really warm, although fans are provided. The pool room was also very warm with old sockets; the sauna and hot tub are in the next room, but the hot tub was out of order. There’s also no smart TV, just Freeview.
Overall, I wouldn’t describe Membly Hall as modern or luxury, but the beautiful sea views, fantastic location, family-orientated atmosphere and genuinely kind staff made up for the dated areas. I thoroughly enjoyed my holiday and would happily stay again.
Room & Staff were excellent
Nothing
Douchen via klim in hoekbad.
Emplacement exceptionnel, vue mer. Petits-déjeuners copieux et excellents. Personnel aux petits soins et très gentil.
Lovely location with free parking. Nice beer garden. Great views. Nice staff. Good food. Relaxed. Comfortable bed. Not far from town, but nice promenade in front of hotel and beach nearby.
Location, staff very friendly,
Shower was on small side, wifi kept going on off, free breakfeast was supposed to be full English but no black pudding, no hash brown and mushrooms, but was very nice cooked.
The location was excellent. The breakfast was good. We had our room changed on arrival the room needed upgrading was very hot and 5he conservatory was next to our window. The lift was right outside our room The door was constantly banging.
The room .
the hotel was extremely accomodating- i was called personally about my check in - the key had my name printed on and was left in a lock box for me - breakfast was great, overall an excellent experience
£190 for one night. Very uncomfortable bed. Room needed a good clean, especially dust and webs headend of bed, low down. Breakfast very good, receptionists very good.
The location. The friendliness of all the staff. The view from the room
Could have used a small fridge in room
