Location
Charge for room twice. Bad customer service. Room was not ready at check-in and was given a different room with no view, noisy maintenance workers.
My wife and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine recently and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Sean at the front desk should be recognized by management for his outstanding service, friendly and welcoming spirit. He is the reason we are returning for another 2 nights stay next month - May 2026. He is a keeper !!!!
Very nice hotel. Easy to recommend, though you'll need some luck if you want to charge your EV there - J1772 chargers were quite old with two of three broken. At least one of five Tesla gen 2 charging stations was broken too. All were completely occupied for the two nights I stayed - wasn't able to charge.
While the staff were extremely professional and kind, the air conditioning unit was very unsatisfactory. Even at high fan setting and also at 60 F setting, the room was only able to get down to 69 F. In fact, the room was so humid, the bed begin to felt wet to touch, which showed the ineffectivness of the AC. With the state of the AC unit, I am unsure if I would be willing to stay at the Hyatt again.
Reserved a Junior Suite, room was not ready until after 5:00pm! Be prepared for lots of kids for some reason. Hotel was noisy and you can hear everything that's going on in the room next door.
Very nice hotel. Ample free parking available. Good food options in the hotel & close by. Pool area js very nice. Will visit again
I had an excellent stay at the Hyatt, and I want to give a special shoutout to Nicole. She went above and beyond in providing exceptional customer service—always attentive, friendly, and proactive. Nicole made sure every detail of my stay was perfect, and her dedication truly stood out. Thanks to her, my experience at the Hyatt was unforgettable.
The staff at this hotel were truly the highlight of my stay—friendly, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. From check-in to any requests I had during my visit, they consistently went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and taken care of.
That said, there are several areas where the hotel fell short. Parking is definitely a challenge, so be prepared for added costs—$49 for valet or self-park for $39 if you can't find street parking nearby. The rooms themselves were also a bit disappointing. My initial room had a noticeable dingy, chemical smell that made it uncomfortable to stay in, and although the staff quickly helped me switch rooms, the second one was only slightly better.
There were also some missing amenities that I would have expected. There was no bathtub in the room, which may be a downside for some guests. The coffee maker setup was inconvenient as there was no outlet nearby, so I had to move it to use it. Additionally, there was no luggage rack available, which made organizing my belongings more difficult, and no complimentary water provided.
Lastly, the Chromecast feature was unreliable—it would work for about 15–20 minutes before disconnecting and reverting back to cable, which was frustrating when trying to stream content. This might seem like no big deal unless you have little ones and need more than a minute to entertain them while planning for the next outing.
Overall, while the staff made a great impression and did their best to address concerns, the hotel itself could use improvements in both amenities and room quality.
Excellent property. Recently renovated - decor is warm yet professional. Comforting. Not cold nor stale. Staff was both friendly and professional. Loved the coffee they provide in the room - and I'm a coffee-snob.
Accommodations were excellent; beautiful grounds, amenities. Clean, spacious rooms/ bathrooms. Helpful/ professional staff from Front Desk, Housekeeping, Restaurant/ Cafe, Wait Staff, and Valet.
Wonderful experience! Hotel was beautifully maintained. Rooms were clean and tidy, food choices were great, and the pool/cabanas were wonderful. Wish we could have stayed longer and will definitely revisit next time we're in San Diego.
Security and Engineer screamed and made threats, cornered me in the elevator, stopping its progress making demands and threats bc I grabbed the water I am entitled to as a guest. They hide behind the wall watching the monitors instead of assisting and helping guests and then run out yelling and chasing guests to feed their ego. Does all Hyatts treat guests like this or only this Regency ?
Great property, really a resort. We enjoyed the pool, jacuzzi, games, and the location is so convenient... especially to all the La Jolla has to offer. Can't wait to come back!
Food and services were kind of pricey.
Ficamos somente 2 dias. Gostei muito do quarto e da estrutura do hotel.
O valor do estacionamento é muito alto.
Large clean room
It's abruptly expensive. More than 300$ per night for a single room, and everything else costs additional (cloth cleaning, breakfast etc). The fitness center was free, but it was disappointing. Just a room packed with 5 treadmills and bikes with minimal gym equipment.
