Both locations for Hamptons Inns in Harrisonburg are in bad need of updating. Very disappointed in these properties.
Pros:

Location

Cons:

Sorely needs update. Shabby. No clock, no lamp on the desk, refrigerator door broken.

There are better options
Pros:

We stayed one night traveling from Gatlinburg to Philly and towing an RV. We did call ahead to be sure they had room for the RV, which they did. As others have mentioned, the lobby has been renovated but the rooms themselves are mostly ancient. They do not support the digital key technology which has been a Hilton standard since before the pandemic. There was only one working elevator and that one was scary. It had some aftermarket call button system that really concerned me.

Most things in the room are scuffed, dented and broken. The television was the old LG with direct tv that I haven’t seen in about 10-15 years. The one good thing about that was I was able to easily connect my Roku because there was no technology to block me out. The bathroom did have fresh wallpaper and tile, however. So not sure if they are trying to update the whole hotel or not.

One pet peeve I have is housekeeping knocking on the door two hours before check out to make sure you are awake. This really irritates me. Breakfast was the same lackluster Hampton Inn breakfast that was neither good nor bad.

I really feel like this hotel would be more fitted to the Hilton Spark value brand than a Hampton Inn. I would compare this to a Days Inn. There are so many better options in the area, that I would not choose this again even though I only rarely stay at a non Hilton brand. In this area I would.

Very, very, very disappointed, and the place should be either demolished or completely redone
Cons:

One elevator was broken and the other one I got stuck in for over 30 minutes. If I had not had my phone with me, I don’t know if I would’ve ever gotten out of the elevator all night. They did not give me proper compensation either, and the general manager was rude.

Avoid at all costs - old and gross
Pros:

We booked this hotel because we've always had good experiences with Hampton Inns. Not this one. It is old, which could be excused, but it's also dirty and gross. The chairs in the lobby are stained and dirty. The wooden tables in the breakfast area are all sticky from the humidity in the hotel. Our room was so humid that my book felt wet.
The rooms are small. The AC unit made the room cool, but nothing took out the incredible humidity which made everything, and us, feel wet and damp.
The breakfast was the standard Hampton Inn food, which is good. But eating at the sticky tables was not ideal.
One of the two elevators was out of order, and there was blue painters tape covering the buttons. The tiles in the working elevator are cracked and broken. There was dirt all over the hallway in the morning.
The place needs a complete overhaul, and definitely does not live up to Hampton Inn standards. I would avoid this hotel at all costs, as there are plenty of other choices nearby that hopefully would be better.

Not what we expected for your brand
Pros:

The breakfast was great .The kitchen staff was awesome.

Cons:

The hotel was outdated, it didn't stand up to your standard. It was a 3 star hotel.

Needs a complete remodel
Pros:

This Hampton Inn is old and tired and needs a complete overhaul/remodel. All the furniture was either stained, chipped, dinged, dented, scratched, or old. Sometimes it was a combination of those things.

Location is good. The Valley Mall is across the street, so you can walk to that, along with many other places such as Five Guys, Bruster's Ice Cream, IHOP, Popeye's, Kroger grocery store, etc. etc.

Noise level was fine, as I used the app to pick a room at the of the hall on the 3rd floor. Don't get a room by the elevators or ice machine or on the 1st floor.

Service? I used self check in and check out, so I didn't really deal with any employees there. People at breakfast were asking an employee for water, as there was none around, and she asked if they had their room card, meaning she was going to charge them for water, as I saw her come back with bottled water out of the fridge where they sell it. Water should be free with breakfast. I was also not happy they did not have bacon available for breakfast.

The shower in the room had two temperatures: Freezing cold or scalding hot. You would turn the handle almost all the way as far as it would go and it would stay freezing cold then you would hear a noise, like something triggered and it would become scalding hot. No way to make it a little less hot. If you moved the handle down, you would hear that noise again and it would become freezing cold.

The TV was tiny and not even a smart TV.

Overall I can't recommend this hotel and would not stay here again.

Fantastic Service from Kailash!
Pros:

Just wanted to call out the superb service from Kailash/Ken. I accidentally left an article of clothing behind and this guy really went out of his way to help me out- and I noticed he had worked a double
shift as well. It would've been easy for him to dismiss me- the system they had in place didn't work- but he literally gave me his personal email address to get my item back to me. I am grateful- and hope the management at this Hampton realize what a great employee they have.

Wouldn’t stay here again
Pros:

Location

Cons:

The pool was unavailable. The nightly rate should have been discounted. We only chose this location bc of the pool. Also, the elevators took forever. Inconveniently had to take stairs most of time bc the wait was that long. The facility was clean but looks like they cut corners with maintenance. I’ve never stayed at a Hampton that looked sub par.

Quiet Property
Pros:

The location is great because it is close to many restaurants and close to the interstate.

Cons:

This location needs more upgrades of the hallways. The elevators are still not working properly after my last stay a few months ago.

Tired hotel
Pros:

Everything about this hotel shouts “I need remodeling”. As soon as we checked in the couple ahead of us came back from their room and said they could not stay as the room was not up to their standards. Indeed! The carpets were old and worn, doors to room were heavy and unwieldy and the entry was very narrow. Refrigerator worked but was wobbly. Thin towels. Staff was pleasant enough

Never again
Pros:

Stayed there May 23rd, would not recommend to anyone. The room was dirty, the carpet was stained, the water dripped all night, top sheet was stained, smell of mold in the bathroom, furniture was all dated. Hands down the worst Hampton I ever stayed at. The only thing good was the entrance was clean and that gave you the feeling that this place was going to be ok. NOT

Tired and sad
Pros:

This Hampton Inn desperately needs of a major renovation. Starting when you drive in you find a tattered American flag and a Virginia flag fluttering in the wind on one eyelet, quite a sad sight to see. Sad is probably the best word to describe the visit. The hotel has dents, dings, scratches throughout, the elevator lights don't light up for which floor you are on, the panel in the elevator was unsecured and the list goes on before you get to your room. The lights are dim, doors are spotted with wood putty and scratches, and the list goes on. The shower was either screaming hot or freezing cold and when we mentioned some of these details to the front desk we got a "I'm sorry, that's just how it is" response. There are many other brands of hotels in the nearby area and as we will have many more visits to Harrisonburg on the docket, we will not return.
