Important information:

According to the Brazilian Federal Law 8.069/1990, minors under 18 years of age cannot check into hotels unless they are accompanied by their parents or a designated adult. If a minor is accompanied by an adult other than his parents, it is necessary to present a written authorization for the minor to check into the hotel. Such authorization must be notarized and signed by both parents, and presented along with notarized copies of their IDs.

Goed hotel, op een top locatie
Pros:

De locatie en de kamer

Cons:

Ze zijn aan het verbouwen waardoor je in de herrie zit in de lobby en bij het zwembad. Dit hadden ze van te voren wel mogen vermelden.

De vloer in de slaapkamer is aan vervanging toe, missen stukken uit het laminaat.

Schönes Strandhotel an der Copacabana!
Pros:

Tolle Lage in erster Strandreihe, gutes Frühstück, tolle Dachterrasse mit großem Pool, sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter!

Cons:

Die Zimmer waren leider nicht so geräumig, man konnte keine 2 Koffer gleichzeitig öffnen und auch das Badezimmer war sehr klein.

Solid option on Copacabana beach
Pros:

1. Our room had 2 bedrooms and an ocean view - you can see the sunrise right from the window.
2. Good breakfast with a lot of different options and a nice terrace outside.
3. Good pool/bar area and good caipirinhas.

Cons:

1. Not the hotel’s problem, but the neighborhood didn’t feel very safe at night.

Unhygienic hotel - beware you pay for the location - nothing else.

The staff are so wonderful, they really are just trying to make everyone happy. I felt bad for them. They have a level of professionalism you can’t find in many places. I would be proud to have a team this accomodating & positive.

Cons:

I have genuinely never felt the need to leave a review like this before, but this hotel was completely unacceptable. We ended up having to leave and move hotels due to the level of unhygienic conditions.

There is a clear difference between a hotel being dated and having character - this was not that. The issue is the complete lack of upkeep & cleanliness. It appears nothing is properly cleaned or scrubbed; rooms are simply “straightened up.”

On arrival, we were not given the room we had originally booked. The bed sheets had clearly been used and had visible marks, including what appeared to be blood and other bodily stains. These were not old stains the sheets looked unchanged from previous guests.

The bathroom was in an even worse condition. There was black mould throughout the shower, the shower head was heavily soiled, mirrors had not been cleaned, and overall the room showed no signs of proper cleaning.. ever.

We requested a room change and were given another room that was even worse, which turned out to be the room we had originally booked.

We ultimately had to escalate through Booking.com, who assisted in refunding the remaining 5 nights, as the property did not match the listing photos or expected standard. (Nada you are amazing and booking.com is lucky to have someone so patient - thank-you for your kindness).

For $310 per night, a basic level of cleanliness should be guaranteed. The location is excellent, but it does not compensate for the condition of the rooms.

I was fortunate to secure alternative accommodation at Portobay & Copacabana Palace, where the difference in cleanliness and standards was immediate and exactly what you would expect at that price point.

I genuinely cannot understand where the positive reviews for this hotel are coming from. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I have had.
