Hampton Inn Washington-Dulles Int'l Airport South

My husband and I stayed at this hotel in 2023 and had a very pleasant experience, which is why we chose to rebook it again this year. Unfortunately, this stay was completely different and deeply disappointing.

We booked a four-night stay over the Christmas holiday, unaware that the hotel was undergoing major renovations. This information should have been clearly disclosed at the time of booking, especially during a holiday stay when guests expect a quiet and restful experience.

We woke up to extremely loud drilling early in the morning, after already getting very little sleep due to a refrigerator that made constant loud noises throughout the night.

We switched rooms that morning, and while things initially seemed better, we were woken again at 4:00 am. when the heating unit suddenly became extremely loud and disruptive. In addition, construction workers were using trucks on our side of the building to load and unload materials, adding to the constant noise.

After two consecutive nights of very little sleep, we made the decision to find another hotel for the remainder of our trip.

We were also surprised by a note on the thermostat stating that it could take up to 30 minutes to reach the desired temperature due to an energy-saving mode—something we’ve never encountered in a hotel before.

Until renovations are completed and fully disclosed, this is a buyer-beware situation—particularly for guests expecting peace, quiet, and a good night’s sleep.

Great place

We needed a shuttle pickup at 12:30 AM. There was no problem. The hotel had a list of "walk to" restaurants. Paisano's Pizza was a 5 minute walk. Their food was delicious. We bought hot subs, brought them back to the hotel and ate in the breakfast area.

Room was clean and much bigger than usual, which was nice! The only downside and reason it’s not five stars is the reckless shuttle driver who ran a very long red light hanging a high speed left across traffic to get into the hotel area off US 50. It was extra reckless given that we had an infant with us and there was no way to secure an infant in the shuttle.

All good

I placed near the elevator and it was noisy a good part of the night. Then in the morning the house staff started vacuuming before 8 AM the hallways and surrounding rooms.

Staff is awesome. Hotel is clean, inexpensive compared to other properties in the area.

Front desk staff and shuttle drivers are very nice and professional.

Everything was good

Very clean, easy booking and check in, wonderful relaxing stay. I particularly appreciate it was quiet so I could get work done and smoke free. Breakfast included was great.

The hotel was very clean and the staff was very friendly. Close distance to where we were going which was Kings Spa.

the lady on the desk..was better than superb..i was at dulles..could not find te pick up spot..noise in background with busses coming by.could not hear her..she was wonderful..guided me thorugh where to go..i was nearing hysteria..she was a calming effect and ever so efficient..she is a rare jewel of composure..

Breakfast was limited

We overnighted here after our late night flight arrived. The primary draw was the shuttle service, which was excellent both late night, and again in the morning for getting us on our way again.

Good inexpensive stay over the weekend..traveled back and forth to the city..
No major traffic jam-ups
