Here’s the good:
1. Location and free parking
2. Great lobby to hang out in
3. AC works well
Frustrations:
1. Double beds instead of queens
2. Rooms are small and tight
3. Way too much light comes in at the end of the shades
This hotel was our “go to” when we traveled back home to the Detroit area but housekeeping has really declined in the last year. The elevator button panels are dirty and they seem to have a hard time removing hair from previous guests from the floors and bedding. We’re disgusted and will find another place to stay when we visit family.
We paid booking.com for the stay and there was a used contact lens on the pillow when we checked in. They brought sheets to the room and said change them yourself. We left and went to a different hotel and I am out of all that money. No refund offered because we used booking.com
My first stay here even though I have attended many events over the years. I can't believe the hotel is over 50 years old. It looks amazing and I was impressed that there was no peeling paint, detached wallpaper or stains in the pool area as is so common. I have been to many Marriotts that are nowhere near as nice. The rooms are very modern and I love the new design. I hope this is a prototype for other Marriott's. Staff very friendly and Brianna at check in was super helpful throughout my stay. The food in the concierge lounge was excellent . What a pleasure to get free parking at a Marriott! My only disappointment was that the beautiful pool was so shallow and that there was no soap or shampoo in the very nice locker room. Just a shower.
Very petty and rude employees and servants. I witnessed a family that was on a team sport supporting their business and because they sat in the bar/restaurant area to eat after their competition. The concierge then decided to go on a power trip and stand over the parents and daughters about them eating in the area and that they have to take it back to the room, saying they have signs “everywhere” notifying you can’t eat in the bar/restaurant area DURING operation. To where the father looks and sees no sign but one in tiny font way behind the bar and also the bar is pitch black. NOT IN OPERATION. In retaliation of the father pointing that out the concierge then went out his way to type a sign in bigger font and replace it right in front of the family.
Long story short don’t go here because the staff uses their “policy” as scapegoat to not only not work but having to accommodate paying guests. Good riddance.
My recent experience staying at this hotel was terrible due to the complete lack of customer care I experienced. Due to serious airline delays (over 7 hours) I arrived at the hotel at 4:15 am and found my room had been canceled. The representative at the desk was able to book me into another room but told me she could not give me a late check-out as my colleagues received because of "status." When I again asked another representative later that morning, I was told the same story. Rather than providing an exception for 90 extra mins or at least offering to talk with a manager, the not at all friendly or helpful representative offered a half day occupancy that would extend my check-out until 4:00 pm. Since I had slept a total of 2 hours at this point, I was left with no other options. However, despite being charged a grand total of $619 for a mediocre room in the middle of the week that I occupied for less than 10 hours, I was still disturbed at 1:40 pm by loud and relentless knocking on the door for housekeeping. When I answered the door, the housekeeping staff, holding the do not disturb sign in her hands, informed me she needed to come in as check-out was at noon. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, traveling for business or pleasure.
I spent five days at the Detroit Marriott Troy for the Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center National convention, and it was amazing. The staff was beyond attentive and caring. And the GM, Michelle, and the Events Manager, Brian, were amazing, going out of their way to make everything perfect. And of course, I can't forget the food. It was wonderful, and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
This was a last-minute booking after other plans fell through, and I could not have been more pleased with the stay. The person who checked me in was extremely welcoming, the staff in the restaurant were warm and friendly, the food was satisfying, and the room was very clean and comfortable. This is exactly what I want in a Marriott, but haven’t gotten as often as I’d hope in recent years. This place is doing it right.
Was checked in by a nice front desk person by the name of Alyssa. Hotel has a bar/restaurant that stays open late. No need to use a room key to make elevator work. If you need handicap parking, the entire front parking of this hotel caters to that. The one thing I would have changed would be to remove the parking cones near the drop off. On a cold winter night, that would have offered additional car parking close to entrance.
Simply put, this was one of my most memorable experiences ever. The hotel staff and environment were so excellent. If I could give a 6-star, this is the hotel.
Location was great. Safe, and easy to get to.
I spent a good time there.
Very nice!!
Just stayed at the Detroit MARRIOTT TROY recently for a wedding. Decent hotel at a really reasonable price! One of the best bars in a hotel I have ever been to. They have a breakfast buffet available for purchase - pricey but the food was good - can do hot and/or cold bar or order off the menu. AND a free shuttle that will take you anywhere within a 5 mile radius! We had events nearby in Birmingham, MI and were able to use the shuttle as an uber (it stops at 10 pm). Henry was an employee (shuttle driver and other) that we found very helpful and always had a smile to share with us! Thanks for a great stay!
The staff are very pleasant, helpful and nice. The pool was really warm and we had it all to ourselves. The snacks and drinks are really expensive so make sure to bring your own. The room was very clean and comfortable. There is no microwave in the room. This is a very nice place to stay!
Loudest hotel I have ever been in.
The best hotel floor plan I’ve seen so far — it maintained privacy between the bedroom and the bathroom, with thoughtful interior design throughout. We truly enjoyed our weekend stay at the Troy Marriott Hotel and attending Cousin 50th birthday bash at this place.
