I had an absolutely lovely stay at the Hotel deLuxe.
You have a great team of people who oversee a variety guest services.
I would like to do a shout out to the house keeping cleaning staff and manager of that team - my 8th floor Suite was impeccably clean even in all of the hard to reach places.
Hotel Deluxe was the perfect venue for our college, girlfriend reunion of 5 women. We could visit nicely together in the grand foyer, the hotel was wonderfully close to efficient public transportation, and there was a multitude of fabulous dining options with walking distance.
My Suite was truly elegant and cheerful celebrating both Portland's green, natural beauty as well as its city views. The interior design aesthetic beautifully elevated my experience creating a nostalgic, cinematic charm part of the hotel's identity.
There were several gentlemen who worked the Front Desk who I thought were fabulous as well. The Front Desk team has such an important role and act as the initial face of the hotel setting the mood for your customer's experience.
My overall rating would be a 5 out of 5, I truly felt well treated and spoiled in the nicest way possible.
With gratitude,
Mimi T
First off, I Wish there was more people like Fletcher in the hospitality industry.
At 1 AM After 9 Hours of Flying; we got to Hotel Deluxe. Greeted by Fletcher at the front desk, he was EVERYTHING that a Hotel wants in an employee.
He is Extremely Helpful with answering any questions. Very knowledgeable about the hotel and surrounding area. And very compassionate about his job. Wish there was More people like Fletcher in Miami where I come from.
The staff, room, elevator, bar, etc. Shower was great. Bottles of water were well appreciated. Quiet all night. Marvelous architecture and art.
You could use some extra USB plugs.
The situation with parking my car was a hassle getting in, getting out at 4am, and walking back and forth. I have an injury that makes walking pretty painful.
I appreciated the EV charger.
Close to venues and attractions. Vintage history. Great comfy bed. Coffee in room. Was quiet. Relatively clean as it is older historical hotel.
Was a Friday night and 2 events very close by made the lobby packed at check-in. Bar was providing only sit down service but at a very long wait. No to go available, no room service . I was hoping to relax with a refresher and not even option of vending. Confused though as many people in lobby had service.
Good hotel, it’s older but good location and friendly Staff. Aiden helped us out and was very polite.
Vintage Art Deco atmosphere with classic Hollywood photos. Cocktails at Driftroom bar and Brunch at Gracie’s delicious. Kudos to Erin at Gracie’s for going above and beyond with sightseeing suggestions and activities in Portland.
It really pains me to write this because Hotel deLuxe has been meaningful to me for over 20 years. I used to live in the apartments across the street, and this hotel has been a place I’ve chosen for celebrations and special occasions for years. I have had many wonderful experiences here.
I also own a business in Portland, so I understand how difficult the past several years have been for downtown hospitality. It is clear that budgets and staffing are tighter than they used to be. Things seemed more dilapidated and dirty. Still, what happened during my stay last month was one of the most upsetting hotel experiences I have ever had.
I was staying at the hotel for a work shoot and needed to unload my car. I asked the front desk for help locating a luggage cart. I was told to go downstairs and find one myself, but there was no clear direction, no ramp, and no obvious place for guests to access one. After I returned and asked again, the front desk employee reluctantly came downstairs with me and showed me that the cart was stored in what appeared to be an employee-only basement area.
To get the cart outside, I had to maneuver it through a very tight elevator and onto the sidewalk. It was an awkward and confusing process, especially for a guest who had never been shown how to access it. Once the cart was outside, I asked the employee to hold it while I moved my car around the corner. I returned, brought the cart to my room, and unloaded my belongings.
The next morning, I realized that an important bag was missing. I searched everywhere and could not find it. I asked management to review the security footage. Eventually, I received a call from a third party stating that the footage showed someone taking my bag while the cart was in the hotel employee area and under the hotel’s control.
Since then, I have tried to contact both the manager and assistant manager. I have received no meaningful response or help resolving this. The bag contained important items, and the lack of communication or accountability has been incredibly disappointing.
I understand that mistakes and difficult situations happen. What I cannot understand is why a hotel I have supported for decades would leave a guest without answers after their belongings were taken while in the hotel’s care.
Good location. Good access to parking, however, we overheard the desk attendant explaining how to get the parking for free and how others pay. We paid.....
The cleanliness. My wife had three bites in line after staying. We were concerned of bedbugs but didn't explore further while there. It was a hassle trying to get a corkscrew in the hotel. Had to take bottle to bar and have it opened. The couch bed had a cover on it that when removed showed the vinyl was flaking off everywhere. It became a mess on the floor and couch bed.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel deLuxe in NW Portland over the 4th of July weekend. The hotel is within easy walking distance to many city restaurants and attractions. The meals we enjoyed at Gracies, their in house dining room, were delicious and nutritious. The atmosphere is relaxed and filled with reminders of the golden age of Hollywood.
Aidan, their concierge at the front desk, is quite cordial, helpful and very knowledgeable about the horel's fascinating and important history.
The room was beautiful with 180 view of the city; North to South. Aidan was our check-in conceirge, and welcomed our dog with happiness. Josh and Greg in The Driftwood were the cherry on top!
Went for one night based off of reviews. Bar was nice and great vibe, but service was poor. It was very slow and the staff seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves instead of checking on guests. The room was nice but needed to be cleaned. I left my Apple Watch in the room by mistake and didn’t notice until I left. The Find my IPhone app showed it still in the room. I called and emailed and asked multiple times if someone could go check the room as I had already traveled home. Not one person, not the front desk, not room service and not the manager cared enough to even check for me. It’s still there in the room btw.
