Pros:

The rooms were clean and comfortable.

Cons:

The rooms were shabby, with strange fake books. Only one roll of partially used tp and one Kleenex in the box. Not the first thing you want to go looking for after you check in.

Time for Imploding
Pros:

This hotel is way overpriced for its condition. It looks much nicer on line, but I would not stay here ever again. The hotel looks like it should be imploded.. There was a chunk missing from our door to the room, there were holes in the carpet. The furniture is old and faded. Too expensive for the rundown, dated, dirty hotel, you get when you arrive.

Better than expected/great central location
Pros:

I was very pleasantly surprised by this property. I thought that the rooms would be noisy, based on the fact that the location is on Palm Canyon Drive with lots of restaurants, bars, and late night revelers! But, I was pleasantly surprised. I requested Room’s facing the mountains and the golf course; these rooms are located at the back of the hotel. We had two rooms, 421 and 425 and they were both very quiet. do need to put in new beds! The beds were very tired; fortunately I was alone, and I was able to find a comfortable spot on the king bed. I had in my room. Not ideal. also, the toilet didn’t flush properly, the paper couldn’t go down. And, the sink did not drain properly without the drain removed. But,as soon as I brought the plumbing issues to the attention of the front desk, they sent a maintenance man to my room to troubleshoot. If it wasn’t for the tired beds and the plumbing issues, I would have given the hotel five stars. Granted, it’s not a Four Seasons, (our 1st choice hotel), but, it is an ideal location in Palm Springs, and for a room costing $350 to $450 a night, it was a good value.

Great Location, facilities a bit dated.
Pros:

The hotel, whilst in a great location, is quite run down though with many small broken items and a general feeling that its not being maintained as it should, especially given the price. On the positive side the staff are helpful and friendly, and rooms were overall clean and comfortable, it's just not quite a 4* Hyatt standard that you'd expect elsewhere.

Tried and True Classic
Pros:

Location is unbeatable. In the heart of it all, but definitely without the noise and bustle of the street. At least if you are on the backside of the hotel.

Rooms are very spacious. As is the property. Breakfast was very good. Great setting for the pool. Would not have an issue staying here again in the slightest.

Yes, it is an older building and been around a while. We love that and appreciate it rather than expecting everything to be new.

One Night Stay
Pros:

Overall it was OK. I thought the hotel was outdated and renovations to bring it up a level were necessary. It wasn't horrible but I have stayed in better Hyatts so I was a little disappointed.

Stay Away! Awful Hotel!
Pros:

This was the worst hotel! I can’t even believe people would spend money to stay here. The rooms are horrible. My room had mold in the shower, the wall paper in the bedroom was peeling off the wall, the bathroom had a cracked sink, the balcony flooring was flaking off in big sections on the floors and the patio furniture looked like it was taken from the dump- it was all coming apart with the arms all ripped up. To top it off, the WiFi would not connect to my phone or my husband’s phone in the bedroom. When we checked in, the front desk had people in front of us complaining about the shower, so other clients were complaining as well from the moment we walked in. Plus…they put us in a room facing a big nighttime street fair that went on all night and no one warned us how loud the room would be. The front desk staff was not very friendly when we checked in, so basically, there isn’t a single thing I can compliment for this hotel. We travel often, and this is by far one of the worst hotels we have stayed at. Stay away!

Hyatt, please renovate this hotel!
Pros:

I'll start with the positives. The hotel's building itself is unique and could really be stunning with a good renovation. You couldn't ask for a better location in Palm Springs. The rooms have large balconies.

Unfortunately, that is the end of the list for the good things I can say about the Hyatt Palm Springs. This hotel is in desperate need of a full renovation. That is the only way I would ever recommend this hotel. On my first stay, I was without hot water in my room for most of my stay. On my second stay, the power went out at the property (for no apparent reason) for almost 12 hours with no real solutions or options provided to guests. From those two experiences alone, you can tell the infrastructure of the property is in need of renovation.

The rooms, while spacious, are filled with worn (and often dirty or broken) furniture.

I truly hope that someone at Hyatt gives this property the much needed renovation it needs.

Not worthy of Hyatt
Pros:

I would not stay here again unless you absolutely have to be in the middle of the main street (and even then....ask if this one is worth it). Location is great, but $30/ night for parking in a toxic smelling, dark parking garage, insufficiently lit and old rooms with bathrooms that are not water conscious is not my idea of a vacation.

I ADVISE YOU DO NOT stay at this hotel!!
Pros:

I ADVISE YOU DO NOT stay at this hotel!!

1. No Valet (no big deal), however they charge you to self park in a garage that had teenagers running around looking in cars!! They have literally NO security!!

2. AC in room doesn’t work (in Palm Springs no less)! They said it’s an old hotel (I agree), and we have issues with heating and cooling, really?!

3. The bathroom had a cracked sink and toilet!

4. The water is going yo be turned off at midnight tonight until 3am. Was not told that when we checked in but saw a sign on the reception counter!! I couldn’t cancel because they wouldn’t give me a refund!

Spend the extra money on a good hotel!! Hyatt should be ashamed to have their name associated with this place.

By the way, the Thompson Hotel a couple blocks away is NOT the same hotel I’m writing about. Spend the extra $$$ and stay there, you’ll love that hotel!!!

Prime Location -- poor quality Hyatt
Pros:

Hotel is in need of MAJOR update -- exterior, pool, rooms, common area carpeting. Multiple problems with room including leaking faucets, entry door cracked and broken, sofa needs replaced -- had to put two cushions down to watch tv; lid on coffee maker broken, shower door would not stay closed. bidet out of order, lamp shade in bathroom missing screws -- crooked, carpet needs replaced.

Staff was friendly and attempted to address issues

Give it a pass
Pros:

The hotel desperately needs a facelift. The bathroom plumbing was broken, the ceilings were stained, the carpets worn and dirty, the pool floor was shipped/sharp and cut my wife's foot and the property in general looks very worn and not well maintained.

One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had.
Pros:

One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. At $400+ per night over a long weekend, I expected much more from a Hyatt.

Our room was hot and muggy with non-working A/C when we arrived, the in-room safe didn’t work, the tub had rust stains and wouldn’t drain properly, and the bathroom counter had large chunks of granite missing. The patio chairs were torn and frayed, and despite multiple requests, we never received cushions (though others in our party had cushions on their patio). The couch was stained and badly worn.

Housekeeping never cleaned our room until one night I tracked housekeeping down and asked they empty the garbage and replace the towels. I repeatedly asked to move rooms or pay for an upgrade and was told everything was sold out, yet my sister’s room on the opposite side of the hotel was clean and issue-free.

To top it off, the elevator got stuck on our way to checkout. We had to pry the doors open and carry our luggage down flights of stairs. The front desk showed no concern and simply said they’d “let engineering know,” then asked for an additional $93 resort fee when I had already paid the full amount for the room.

Very disappointing experience overall.

STAY AWAY!!! Worst hotel experience of a well traveled life
Pros:

STAY AWAY! As a decades long loyal Hyatt loyalist, this hotel not only is ruining our stay in Palm Springs, it has irrevocably broken my loyalty to the Hyatt name. This hotel is THE WORST — so bad that we are going to check out in the morning, after one night, and cancelling a five day planned vacation here.

To say our room is outdated and broken down is an understatement, with seriously torn wallpaper and disgusting carpeting over an uneven floor. It is boiling hot with temperature that is NOT manageable from the room (luckily it is 50 degrees outside so we will fix that by keeping the balcony doors open all night). It smells.

And get this: the bedroom ceiling lights are on a motion sensor. Roll over in bed (or if your partner does or goes to the bathroom) and the entire room lights up for five minutes. In the middle of the night. UNBELIEVABLE.

Bad on me. I booked blindly because I have grown to understand what to expect from the Hyatt brand. Now that I read reviews here, I can see that I am not alone. But I cannot believe there are ANY reviews above 1* …

Hyatt you have lost a customer by allowing this to represent your brand.
