Worthy of at least 6 stars
Pros:

Beautiful hotel and grounds. Quiet and peaceful. Excellent staff in all positions including valet and front desk, housekeeping, and both dining venues (Fairview and Bull Durham). Recent (and ongoing) facility updates are well done ... if there were 6 stars, Washington Duke clearly would quality.

High society!
Pros:

Stately, dignified place with outstanding staff. Grounds and golf course are beautiful. Bar seems lively but also cozy and clubby. Loved it!

Best place to stay in Durham
Pros:

I recently stayed at The Washington Duke Inn and Golf Club for a work conference. This is my second time here for a conference. This is my favorite place to come to. The entire staff is courteous, kind, and helpful. The Inn is absolutely beautiful and meticulously maintained. I brought my daughter along and she was in awe of just how beautiful it is. The food for the conference and at the Bull Durham Bar and Restaurant was delicious. I would highly recommend the Washington Duke to anyone.

Excellent luxury hotel
Pros:

Beautiful classic hotel. New renovated lobby with new pictures of the Duke family.
We stayed in a suite. It was spacious and beautifully appointed. I called for slippers and they came in just a few minutes. The only downside was the TV remote was a bit difficult to use, seemed like the buttons were old.

Superb in Every Way
Pros:

Wonderful hotel with excellent staff. Rooms are charming and immaculately maintained and the restaurant downstairs went above and beyond to accommodate allergies and dietary restrictions. From check in to check out every staff member we encountered was kind, helpful and proactive. We will definitely return!

Not a great experience
Pros:

Disappointed to be assigned a room with a "roll in shower" (473) wherein it was impossible to contain the water and keep it from spilling onto most of the bathroom floor--despite two floor drains, we had to use a mountain of towels to mop up the floor. Hazardous.

Also disappointed that food/dirty dishes were left outside rooms on our floor such that at no time when we traversed the hall (about 8 times in our two-day stay) was the hall free of dirty dishes.

Makes you wonder if this is really the best option in Durham for about $400 a night.

Cons:

Only complaint is the fact that they advertise a mini bar in the room and our room had a locked, empty refrigerator…no mini bar

Awful Fitness Center -Beware !
Pros:

Awful nearly unuseable fitness center which has heat coming out rather than air conditioning and which has cheap no-name ellipticals in place of the former Life Fitness brand equipment when they could have had either Life Fitness or TechnoGym.
