Pros:

We were looking forward to a relaxing family mini break, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing.


Firstly, we arrived at approximately 2:15 pm. As check-in is advertised from 2:00 pm, we expected our room to be ready. Unfortunately, it wasn't available and we had to wait around 20 minutes before we could check in. We appreciated being offered drink vouchers while we waited, which was a thoughtful gesture, but it would have been preferable if the room had been ready as advertised.

The main issue, however, was the significant noise disturbance that evening.

Later in the evening, we were suddenly disturbed by the sound of a pneumatic drill and very loud work vehicles operating directly outside our window. We contacted reception and were told that the hotel had received no advance warning of the works and that the situation had come as a surprise to them as well. While we appreciated the apology, we were surprised by this explanation, as our understanding is that councils are generally required to notify nearby properties in advance of overnight works. Had we been made aware beforehand, we almost certainly would have chosen to stay elsewhere.

As the evening went on, it became obvious that our young children would not be able to fall asleep at their normal bedtime because of the level of noise. We contacted reception again to ask whether there was anything further that could be done. We were kindly offered food or drink vouchers, and complimentary breakfast, although breakfast had already been included in our booking.

We then asked whether it would be possible to move to another room. We had noticed that Booking.com was still showing several rooms as available, but we were told there were no rooms available to move us into. About an hour later, those rooms were no longer showing as available online, which left us wondering whether they had been allocated to other guests.

Overall it was comfy and nice for the price we paid on a genius deal
Pros:

Beds were comfy, room was good size and loved the full length mirrors on the hidden cupboards in the bathroom. Coffee was great made by the barista in the morning

Cons:

Car park was too far away to walk with our bags, had to walk up an alleyway late at night. Room smelt a bit musty and mould on the bathroom ceiling

Staff were rude and untrained. Left waiting in lobby for hours (after check in time) with sick child for room to be ready. Heating in room didn’t work, with breeze coming in via window seals. Room service took 2.5hrs to arrive. With half of the order going to wrong room. Booked 3 rooms 3 months in advance and requested rooms on same floor as traveling with children. Ended up on different floors which made it difficult to coordinate children. Hotel needs urgent maintenance. It’s looking rundown and overpriced

Pros:

The property is central which was great to be able to walk around.

Cons:

Our room was really cold that we couldn’t sleep on the bed closest to the window as you could feel the cold coming through. The heater would go above 21c and then all you could feel was the cold air coming through the unit so we had to turn it off. I had to ask for blankets because it was so cold, we didn’t sleep great both nights we stayed.
