All You Could Hope For in Old Vegas
Pros:

My partner and I could not have asked for a better time at Downtown Grand. From the very moment we walked in, we were greeted by Hope who was endlessly accommodating and friendly with us. Having never been to Vegas, this was the perfect first impression. She even would check in with us throughout the weekend when we crossed paths to see how our stay was going. Frankly, I’d stay here again if it meant Hope would help us check in again (maybe if we get enough points on that Rewards Card she could be our personal host!)

Our suite was clean, spacious, and offered a beautiful view of the neighboring casinos and rooftop pool. Some mornings it was hard getting up and leaving because it was so relaxing to sit in.

Luckily, the casino on the ground floor was equally inviting, offering generous minimum bets, personable dealers, and even a solid cafe to start the day right. Also that $3 beer and hot dog combo is no joke, hard to pass up.

All of this, and barely a block from Fremont St. Honestly, walking out of the hotel you’re pretty much already there, but with the added bonus of going home to a quiet hotel room. If we happen to stay in Old Vegas again, I know where we’re booking, no question.

Downtown Grand: The Best-Kept Secret in Las Vegas ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Pros:

Five stars doesn’t even come close. I’ve been coming to Las Vegas for 27 years and have stayed in more than 20 hotels—mostly on the Strip, plus several downtown. The Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino is, hands down, my favorite place to stay in all of Vegas. And I don’t say that lightly.

First: location. If you’re defaulting to the Strip, you’re missing out. Fremont Street is pure magic—live music and dancing on three massive outdoor stages every night, rain or shine, electric energy, incredible people-watching. The Downtown Grand is just one block away from all the “boom-boom fun,” but far enough that your room is quiet and peaceful. I’ve slept like a rock here every single time.

Second: safety and service. This place feels safe. Not just because of security presence—but because of the warmth of the people working here. One night, a member of the security team simply smiled at me as I walked by. It was such a small thing, but so genuine. Security staff are often trained to be vigilant, not necessarily personable—but here, they’re both. That says something about the culture.

And speaking of culture, I have to highlight Hope, who works the night shift starting around midnight. She has been extraordinary. From the moment she checked me in, her kindness and attentiveness were obvious. Every night when I returned from Fremont Street, she welcomed me back, answered my questions about safety tips around Vegas, and made sure I felt completely comfortable. Her care feels authentic, not scripted. It’s rare to encounter someone who clearly takes pride in creating a sense of belonging for guests. Hope is a gem.

I also asked to speak with a manager because I’ve just seen too many staff members go above and beyond not to say something. I had the pleasure of meeting Alex Flores, and after speaking with him, it became clear why the team here is so exceptional. He is not just managing a hotel—he is leading a culture. Professional, warm, attentive, and genuinely proud of his staff. You can feel it. When leadership cares, it shows.

As someone with medical needs, I needed a refrigerator delivered to my room for medications. It was handled immediately and without hesitation. I also asked about bringing my future service dog, and Alex walked me through everything with kindness and clarity. For anyone with health considerations or accessibility needs, know this: you will be treated with respect and care here.

The hotel itself is impeccably clean. I’ve stayed in multiple different rooms over more than 10 visits, and every single one has been wonderful—beautiful, quiet, and thoughtfully designed. The casino has a gorgeous art deco vibe that I absolutely love (I’m an artist, and the aesthetic here is fantastic). I have a hard time with smoke, and I don’t even smell it in the casino. The gym is excellent—yes, even if you’re the kind of person who works out on vacation. Valet has always been seamless. Food options are great. I’ve even had packages delivered here while living my semi-vagabond life, and it was smooth and easy.

And the value? Unbelievable. You get a boutique-level experience at a fraction of the price of Strip hotels.

Friendly. Safe. Clean. Beautiful. Affordable. Led by people who genuinely care.

The Downtown Grand doesn’t just “do the job.” They honor their guests. And after more than a decade of staying here, I can say with confidence: this is my home in Las Vegas.

Positive experience at the Grand.
Pros:

I'm so glad we stayed off the strip in a smaller, less crazy-busy hotel.
We were very pleased with the Grand hotel It was clean, had everything we needed and was in a fantastic location. It's close to so many great eateries, as well as the Freemont St. Experience. It felt completely safe to stay there and wander around the area. Plus it's close to the Deuce line, which we utilized. Practically dropped us off at the front of the hotel.
I'll stay in Fremont every time, and would choose the Grand again.

A two days nightmare in the Grand
Pros:

Where to start with? We stayed two nights and the room was not ever cleaned or even replenished the towels. What the Downtown Grand do not advertise is that the parking structure is across a very busy street and not connected to the hotel in any way, this parking has multiple levels with not working elevators so you you’re in for a workout with all your belongings, at first sight looks like a nice place to stay but if you go out and come back late the parking lot is full so is the valet which is full as well and their alternative for you is to park 2 blocks away in their “second parking”. Valet guy was very rude and not helpful and the hotel manager was even worse. When we finally got to our room the smell of marijuana was unbearable, we called front desk and all they could do is send a housekeeper to spray air freshener which didn’t help the housekeeper commented that this happens all the time because the smoke gets into the air system and we had to deal with it the rest of the night and with a really bad headache in the morning, at checkout we realized were charged for a valet parking that we were forced to take. As the result of the parking situation we decided not to leave to get dinner so we ordered food that was delivered to the front desk and they didn’t even had the decency of calling us to inform us was sitting there for a long time dead cold. A horrible experience which I wouldn’t try again.

Very nice location had a great time many things in walking distance, including Fremont Street. And I don’t mean Las Vega
Pros:

This was our first time staying downtown. We did not want to be on the street because we heard it was loud at night as far as in your rooms. We also wanted a nice hotel with a decent pool and sun area for daytime but yet close enough to the casinos or we could walk. The downtown grand did not let us down. The casino was small and personable. Very friendly staff, we stayed in the tower, and the tower rooms were very nice and seemed very spacious.
The pool was more of a relaxing pool where you just chilled out on the edge absorb the sun and did some drinks. You could get two different cabanas and we did try both of them and if they weren’t busy, you could try the day before and get a better deal even which we did. The pool staff were phenomenal. We will be going back.

Great stay at the Grand!
Pros:

We didn’t know what to expect since we’ve never stayed at the Grand before.
Everyone we encountered was soo nice and very friendly. The room was great, (aside from being able to hear people walking around above us). The pool area looked nice, but it was too cold so we didn’t use it.
It was very easy to access Fremont street, it’s about a 5 min walk. You might encounter some homeless people on your way to Fremont street, but they were never a problem. A steak house, Pizza Rock, plus a food court was right across the street. I also loved that you couldn’t hear the bands playing on Fremont street when trying to sleep. We would stay here again!

My Awesome First Stay at the Downtown Grand
Pros:

My first time staying at Downtown Grand and I'll definitely be coming back. The Local Staycation is an absolute great value, especially not having to pay a resort fee for amenities that I'm not using. I don't stay in Las Vegas hotels for their business office, pool access, etc. So, not having to pay a resort fee is AWESOME in my book. The staff are exceptionally friendly, courteous, helpful and just nice people. Mr. Gregory at the Front Desk is totally my favorite staff member at Downtown Grand. His huge beautiful smile along with his shining personality is so welcoming. You feel at home as soon as you walk into the lobby. I can't wait to stay again.

Horrible experience!!
Pros:

For a 2 week work trip I stayed in this hotel, they have their room service (cleaning) policy that you have to call and request and I understand that.
So for 5 consecutive days of calling and literally begging for my room to be clean, had to go down to the desk a few times and asked for it all I got from the management was lies and a horrible and arrogant attitude, definitely not what I deserve I don’t think.
I followed their rules, but they can care less.
After calling and arguing with
Managers one of those nights at 11:30 PM they sent the only house keeper they have in this hotel as she mentioned.. ( I Don’t blame her, not her fault), who takes long work trips understand that all you want is get to your room and rest.. so a midnight cleaning service is ridiculous.
I was extremely tired, disappointed and frustrated, I just couldn’t step out of the room for so long to be clean..they said again they do it first thing in the morning.
Well, next day after a long day of work, got to
My room and of course they didn’t clean it, so no towels, no supplies no nothing, once again call and they keep ignoring.. after a while waiting I went to the front desk, manager was very rude, arrogant and helpless, so I had to start a loud arguing in front of other customers. Nothing aggressive or anything in my side, but they call security on me!!!
So finally on the 5th day at 10:30 they send someone to do the cleaning, and it was so insulting that they send a group of security guards to (protect ) OMG …the housekeeping person.
I just think Is not acceptable that someone had to get this treatment when Is paying for a service. The whole situation was horrible,
Probably my last time in this place.
Definitely not recommended.

Fantastic Downtown Hotel
Pros:

Great hotel in Downtown Las Vegas. The Grand is located near all the Fremont street action, as well as in a walkable distance to Container Park and the Art District. Has a lovely outdoor oasis with ton's of lounge chairs, nice pool and a bar. It was actually a very nice place to hang out even when the pool was closed in January. The casino at the Grand is a manageable size , as it the hotel. Pro Tip: Room 1124 has an awesome view and is large. But it can be noisy from the street action. That didn't bother us at all. We will try to always get that room.
