Lovely decor in main part of hotel. Good Location
Bedroom quite small. Waiter in restaurant dishonest and awkward. Refused to show us our bill and when we insisted saw he had charged for alcohol which we had not drunk at all - zero alcohol was consumed. He then disappeared for 15 minutes to serve other customers before allowing us to settle up and leave, so deliberately ‘punished us’ for insisting on seeing the bill and revealing his scam. Basic customer service failings, which are very disappointing for a reasonable hotel.
Location, grandeur of building, spacious bedroom.
Bit tatty in places, which has nothing to do with age of building (eg coffee table in bedroom badly marked).
Wonderful breakfast, excellent room and location!
Lovely old hotel with interesting features and history
The walls of our room were so thin you could hear the conversations next door. We were moved to another room where it was too hot and they couldn't control the temperature.
Our third room was small but fine.
Breakfast amazing, all in- american and european breakfast. The staff are really nice. The location is very good, and the rooms are clean. The Amundsen Bar is very cozy. The menu is not extensive, but you can even find a children’s menu.
During winter, the windows are not properly insulated, and the heaters are quite small for the size of the rooms. However, if you keep the curtains up and let the warmth come into the room, it will be okay.
I appreciate that the towels were changed each day, but I do not consider it environmentally appropriate if they were not left on the floor.Even though I informed the reception on the first day, they did not inform the staff. However, it is not for me to decide.
