It was a spectacular but expensive view.
The hotel really isn't suitable for those without a car and there isn't a hotel shuttle into town. We found the staff unhelpful with problems that we tried to address.

El restaurante muy caro para la cantidad que viene y muy poca variedad.

The view of the restaurant terrace, and also the view of the room, althought a black floor platform blocked it.the swimming pool and appliances where brilliant. The girl and night boy in reception were outstanding.
The platform that blocked our balcony view of the bay or San Sebastian. The fact thar I requested a note to be written on my arrival for my partner surprise who has been having a very serious tough time in his life and it was his first time over in the city that hosted me for 5 years during my university studies. In addition, we experienced the worst possible customer service by the bar tender Miguel Angel, who jot only did not show communication skills towards us in Spanish, but also communicated in a very arrogant, unhappy, vicious and not pleasant way towards me. He clearly is not fit to be up front on that bar, and the taximan also highlighted to me that everybody is complaining about it. If this person is not fit to work, please let someone with more energy, customer facing skills take over asap, for a best service for the Hotel. It clearly dropped our service expectations, after paying 350€ you would expect a top knot service with at least a polite person.

Breakfast spread and quality was below par or at least below my exceptions. What was the most disconcerting was that the team were wrapping up the breakfast everyday too early vs the communicated breakfast time window. While it was supposed to be available till 10:30am, even as early as 9:30 am, used tables were not being cleaned and reset, utensils and cutleries were not being restocked. Anyone coming in at 9:45 or later were struggling to find a place to sit or clean utensils and cutlery. There was only one member of staff trying to manage a large space so it was also difficult to get her attention. There were no coffee cups at the coffee machine, and when I found a senior staff and requested for one at 10:15am, I was told that it was too late and breakfast ends at 10:30. I did get a cup eventually, after explaining that I had already finished my breakfast and was only trying to grab coffee
The location itself is great, being at the top of the cliff, thus offering a fabulous view of the bay. However, it is quite far from the actual Donostia town, and getting around is not easy without a car. The funicular takes one close to the beach and the bus stop from where one can get the number 16 bus to Donostia town centre. It is EUR 1.5 for each trip on the funicular, after the discount for hotel residents. The funicular can also get very busy and have long queues and wait time due to the large number of tourists coming to the amusement park that is there in the same location as the hotel.

Fantastic location
Check in took forever. Queue. Heat, thought I might pass out! Brassiere; Poor. Luke warm croque monsieur. Think it had been standing some time before it arrived. Tasty but cold!
