Great central location. Easy walk to town. Loved the views. Super friendly staff
It’s an expensive hotel that hasn’t been maintained to reflect the price. Noise between rooms (we did call reception at 3am for them to help with our noisy neighbours but nothing was done). The rooms are basic and dated. If it wasn’t so expensive I wouldn’t think much of it but the $$ doesn’t reflect the standard. To be clear it’s not a terrible place but it’s just not a fair price. As people who travel to Queenstown often, we know the options out there from basic to luxury and this fits in the middle of standards but higher price end. In saying that - location is nice. Great Lake views and a nice flat walk to town. The dining options are great and the breakfast buffet is wonderful. Dinner and drinks at the bar is always nice too with the views. There are renovations happening so that will be welcomed.
Very nice hotel with great views. The staff are exceptionally friendly. My sister and I were upgraded from a standard double to a suite which was very nice. It had a small patio area just off the living area. The hotel is in the process of remodeling but it was not intrusive. It is a short 5 minute walk into the downtown wharf area. There is also a bus stop for the airport right in front of the hotel. There is also a bar and restaurant on the top floor which is great place to relax with views over the lake especially during rainy weather
Hey Expedia why did you ask me to review a hotel I didn’t stay in. The hotel let you know 4 weeks before my check in day that they couldn’t accommodate me due to restorations. It took you another 2 weeks to try and find me an alternative hotel. And then didn’t give me the equivalent facilities. Poor form.
they cancelled my accomodation in July at around $3000 that was made 3 months prior, 21 days later I'm still yet to receive a refund.
I sent sent multiple emails seeking explanation before even getting a reply over a week after it had been cancelled and received automated reply twice in response which was not helpful, 10 days on from that initial contact and I'm still without my refund and have had to book accomodation elsewhere literally zero customer service
The property was in a good spot and very clean. We booked for 3 adults but the sofa bed was awful.
One night was a cold shower.
Hotel was ok. Music in elevators was to loud. Short walk to city centre.if your parking you need to use the qr code st reception to book in. Breakfast was ok not the best we have had.
It was great to be upgraded to a Suite upon check-in, and the staff were very friendly. The room was a little dated however with a very large shared balcony. The restaurant/bar and the breakfast restaurant were great too. Paid parking was close by, and the hotel is only a 5-10 minute walk from the center of town, which was very convenient. Beds were clean and comfy, and the heaters heated our rooms quite well.
I would never stay here again.
Great property
Property is in poor and aged condition for the pricing thay are asking. Room decor was old and ragged. Very noisy and terrible water pressure and toilet that didnt flush properly. Over all disappointing hotel
The Rydges Lakeland Resort is a decent hotel with an amazing breakfast, and I would definitely stay there again. The Lakeview King Room was above average, but the decor felt a bit dated. The walls are very thin, so be prepared to hear everything. The water pressure was also quite low, making it difficult to wash my hair. It's worth noting that half the hotel appears to be undergoing renovations, so hopefully, the issues I encountered will be resolved for my next visit.
However, the breakfast was a real highlight. The all-you-can-eat buffet, complete with an egg chef making made-to-order omelettes while overlooking the stunning Lake Wakatipu, was incredible.
Parking on the street in front of the hotel was free, and the hotel's proximity to the town centre meant we could easily walk everywhere, which was a huge plus.
Hotel was tired, we were not made aware of half the hotel being refurbished. We had a tiny room that we did manage to get upgraded to a family room thankfully! Lake view was amazing.
The property has a beautiful view of the lake and is within walking distance of the main beach and tourist/shopping activities. The top floor restaurant and bar are marvelous. Staff was very helpful and responsive. We loved our stay.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful.
Staff were super friendly
Rooms are a little out dated, but hotel is being Reno’d at the moment. Other than that, excellent location, friendly staff, easy parking. Will be back!
We’ve stayed a few times and I can’t fault its location - which is why we choose it. Out of the town chaos but an easy, flat walk along the lake to get into town. Beautiful views of the lake from the rooms too. It’s old and rooms need an update (they are actually doing this right now to half the hotel and I imagine the other half will be done soon too). The restaurants are great, lovely food and amazing views. Staff were hit and miss with their kindness. The man on reception is AMAZING and so accomodating, I don’t know his name but he was lovely vs a woman we had at one point who was much less accomodating and helpful. Same with dinner we had some really kind servers and then some grumpy ones.
The other confusing point is the EVT system. No one really seems to acknowledge it or know how it works. I appreciate we booked through a third party but we’ve had no issues at other Rydges ro use our benefits (but not earn any points). We found mixed understandings but again the man on reception was happy to work through any issues and we appreciate that.
Overall we like it here and hope to stay again once it’s renovated and refreshed as a QT
Sink didn’t work for two day stay. Balcony door lock didn’t work. No amenities and the room was basic and dated. Charged extra for parking. For almost $500 a night NZ$ it was not what I was expecting.
I see complaints about rundown rooms, mediocre food, poor service, etc.
Our experience was just the opposite - lovely, spacious room, everything seemed new, outstanding breakfast buffet, friendly service throughout the hotel.
Maybe the hotel gave us a newly refurbished room? I don’t know, but this is the nicest hotel I’ve stayed at in New Zealand. And they’ve all been 4-star level properties.
No air conditioning but who needs it here in Queenstown? And they’ve patio door opens for fresh air.
Great view of the lake and a short walk to downtown.
