Hotel Antares

My family of four stayed at the hotel Antares for two nights in June 2022. Overall, I would say that this is a decent hotel. I just really don’t understand what its four stars could possibly be for.
We arrived at about 4 p.m. and asked to check into the two rooms we had booked, only to be told in a not very friendly manner that we had booked only one room. I had the booking confirmation to refute that claim and was given keys to two rooms, one of which turned out not to have been made up. We went back to reception to complain and were given another room on a different floor, which wasn’t very convenient. The receptionist said she’d get us towels for that room but then seems to have forgotten. We went out after checking in and found the room still to be towelless upon our return in the evening. Couldn’t complain, either, as the reception was deserted after 6 p.m.
We had room 104 on the second floor and room 205 on the third floor. Our room was rather spacious and the furniture was nice in an old-fashioned kind of way. Our boys’ room was much smaller. They were different category rooms obviously, but with all the mix-up regarding the rooms I am unsure about the categories.
There were almost no amenities in either of the rooms. No safe, no mini-bar, no A/C, no coffee/tea making facilities. The only things there were were free Wi-Fi, a phone, a hair-dryer and a huge TV. It literally took us twenty minutes to figure out how the latter worked! We are neither stupid nor averse to technology, but there were three remote controls and no instructions and the system was far from self-explanatory. I am sure no small number of guests give up on watching TV in that hotel! The boys had no trouble with their TV, the system was different and much easier.
Wi-Fi was fine, but the phone didn’t really work. When the boys called our room or we theirs we could hear them but they couldn’t hear us.
No toiletries were provided except soap and some indefinable pink stuff in a glass bottle. We used it as soap as the soap dispenser in the shower was nearly empty upon our arrival and wasn’t replenished during our stay. It might have been shampoo or foam bath, though. There was a bathtub with a shower curtain (the boys had a shower cubicle). Taking a shower without flooding the floor was nigh impossible. We mopped up the water with the bath mat and expected to be given a fresh one when the room was made up, but no. They left us with the wet one. Neither were we given a replacement for the towel we had given to the boys because they hadn’t gotten any on the day of our arrival. Couldn’t complain about any of this to reception because it was after 6 p.m. Is this supposed to be four-star service? The boys did get towels on the second day, surprisingly enough.
Breakfast was buffet style, but choices were somewhat limited (they included cole slaw, strangely enough). The food was fine, but the coffee wasn’t very good.
The hotel has a sauna, but it was closed because of “Covid restrictions”, which was rather odd as there aren’t any official restrictions in place any more.
The hotel’s location isn’t that convenient. There are no shops or restaurants nearby. It is possible to walk to the old town, though it isn’t that close and the walk isn’t very pleasant.
To sum it up: how could this possibly be a four-star hotel? The standard is two-star at best and the place is overpriced for that. Don’t stay here if you are looking for four-star service and amenities!

Super Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.
Ruhige Wohngegend.
Etwas weit zum nächsten Restaurant (mit Auto kein Problem).
Frühstück für den Preis sehr gut.

Un accueil chaleureux, parfaite organisation pour arrivée tardive, un excellent petit-déjeuner, une chambre spacieuse, confortable, très bien chauffée, et un calme particulièrement appréciable. Je reviendrai, c’est certain

Das Hotel Antares, in dem ich zum zweiten Mal Gast war, verdient insgesamt beste Bewertungen, besonders auch das Frühstück.

Diesmal gab es allerdings Probleme, die das Hotel nicht zu verantworten hat: Bis weit in die Nacht (ca. 2 Uhr) störte die Lautstärke im Nachbarzimmer immer wieder den Schlaf. Ich konnte nicht erkennen, ob der Fernseher mit überdurchschnittlich hohem Ton lief oder von den Gästen des Zimmers (zu) laut gesprochen wurde.

In der Morgenzeit störte auch Autolärm von der nahen Hauptstraße. Leider hatte ich vergessen,Ohropax einzustecken, das ich bei Reisen sonst immer dabei habe. Damit hätte ich die beschriebenen Störungen vermieden.

Gutes Hotel, wenn man in der Region logieren möchte. Von dem Hotel kann man in 15 min zu Fuß in die Innenstadt gehen.

Das Hotel ist zu empfehlen. Leider lässt das Frühstück sehr zu wünschen übrig.

Kleines sauberes Hotel mit Restaurant. Frühstück klein aber fein. Gute Betten und eine Flasche Wasser bei Ankunft.

Alles Bestens, Personal zuvorkommend und sehr bemüht um den Gast

Sehr freundliches und zugewandtes Personal. Gutes Frühstück, vieles wird direkt und frisch zubereitet. Die Küche biete wenig Auswahl, das ist aber herausragend.

Das Hotel ist ein echtes Schätzchen!

Das Hotel ist sehr sauber und gepflegt und das Personal sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit.
Die Küche liefert abends sehr gutes Essen und zum Frühstück gibt es ein reichhaltiges Buffet.
Matratzen sind im Hotel immer ein Kritikpunkt. Hier nicht! Diese Matratzen waren einfach nur traumhaft. So gut haben wir lange nicht geschlafen.
Wir waren rundum zufrieden. Hier stimmt Preis – Leistung.

Nettes Personal
Ansonsten ist das Hotel recht einfach eingerichtet. Liegt direkt an der Hauptstraße u ist relativ laut

Dejlig hotel, men kunne bruge aircondition, vi havde 33 grader. Morgenmad lidt trist. Fint Wifi

ich war mit meinem Sohn auf einem Motorradrennen in der Nähe und wir hatten bei Ihnen übernachtet. Natürlich bis wir das Hotel fanden, da das Navi nur die Nr. 6 lt. Adresse hatten und in der Strasse die Nr. 6 bis 6a und 6d ging war dies verwirrend. Aber ich war sehr zufrieden mit dem netten Personal und ich kann das Hotel jederzeit weiterempfehlen und würde auch wieder dort übernachten.

Es war ein wunderchöner Aufenthalt und das Personal war super freundlich! Ich komme gerne wieder!

Einfaches Hotel aber sehr sauber und hell. Die Möbel zwar alt aber top gepflegt und freundliches Personal.

If you want to visit the small towns nearby Halberstadt and you need to stay in a decent hotel, than I suggest you to take a look at this one. Is not cheap at all, but the staff is very helpful, the hotel is very clean and has an easy access to the nearby towns. You should ask for a room that is not situated too close to the Street, to be sure is quiet. The breakfast is not so varied. If you travel in a period where there are some holidays I suggest you to ask the hotel if there is going to be a party organized by them during your stay, and avoid the hotel. The music is very loud and it can be heard very easily in the rooms and you can not sleep. Unless you want to join the party....The wifi is very poor.
