I loved the style of the rooms, they look vintage but don't feel like bad/old quality. The bathroom worked perfectly and it was very clean. Calabria room was super spacious and comfortable. AC unit worked great and I had a wonderful stay. The area that the hotel is located in is also super cute. You can find great Arepas, a bookstore, antique store, lush store, and park all on the street.
I really wanted to like this hotel because it has a lot of character and is in a convenient location. There were a few things we genuinely enjoyed. The antique bed was exceptionally comfortable, the room was very quiet, and the clawfoot bathtub was beautiful and relaxing to use
The biggest problem was that both the bathtub and the sink leaked, leaving puddles of water on the bathroom floor. We reported the problem immediately and were told by the hotel's remote staff that the plumber was unavailable and there was nothing they could do.
Another disappointment was the listing itself. The room was advertised as having "air conditioning," which is technically true, but it consisted of a portable floor unit vented through a window. The bathroom had no air conditioning at all—only a standing fan—making it quite uncomfortable during our stay.
Throughout the room there were signs of deferred maintenance, including chipped paint on the white woodwork and missing trim molding. None of these issues alone would have ruined our stay, but together they gave the impression that the property has not been well maintained.
Security was another concern. The main entrance doors remained unlocked during the day, allowing anyone to walk into the building and access the guest room floors without restriction.
The exterior was equally disappointing. The courtyard appeared neglected, with little landscaping, no flowers, and very little curb appeal. It felt like a missed opportunity because the building itself has so much charm and potential.
Beautiful, great location, great vibe.
Nothing!
The room was gorgeous, charming and had a lot of character. It's not your cookie-cutter hotel room. Free parking is a huge plus as other hotels in the area charges upwards of $20-$30/day. Location is wonderful too as it is within walking distance of many attractions along the North Shore.
Given that the oldness of the property is what gives this place its charm, it does need to be mentioned that if you like modern conveniences, this is not the place for you. The bathroom sink faucet has separate hot and cold spigots. You will not find USB ports for you to charge your phone in the room. The climate control system is a stand-alone unit. There is not an elevator on the property, so you may be going up 2 flights of stairs to get to your room.
Everything
Beautiful house and convenient location. It was a awesome place to stay and would highly recommend. When we go back to Pittsburgh it will be the 1st place we look to stay at.
We stayed during a extreme heat wave. Temperatures were right at 100 degrees and the room got really stuffy and hot. We called the management and they brought us up a portable AC unit which helped immensely. Not a complaint just a heads up. The charm of the house outweighed any inconvenience of the heat for us.
Beautiful room, love the location, everything was perfectly clean
The stairs to the room were rough but doable!
Close to the stadium and look of a Victorian Era mansion. We arrived earlier than expected and the cleaning lady was able to get us in early and suggested where to eat. She was the best thing about our stay.
No elevator so you walked up steps that creaked. That was lovely at night. The bathroom is narrow -the toilet was located inches away from the radiator, there was no mirror to look at unless you were 8 feet tall, and the bathtub may have been quaint but an accident waiting to happen. There were no rails to hold onto to except for the actual pipes and you had to climb over the tub to get in. The shower ring hardly covered a child let alone an adult. At night light was everywhere since there were windows above the door and window seat without curtains. Room temperature was questionable at night and the temperature was in the high 80's with high humidity. We checked out the next morning.
Location is the best
The room is beautiful but the bathtub with the shower curtain needs upgrade
