It was quite far from all the places we wanted to visit and the check in was quite late.
We chose this property for it's location near Long Branch Beach and Asbury Park. WE were traveling with our friends who were never to the NJ shore. We planned time at the pool and the beach. The hotel advertises nice photos of a pool and patio. When we arrived there was a padlock on the pool. The cushions to the furniture were worn looking and some on the ground. It does not look as nice as presented in the promo photos. We spoke with the front desk and they said they were sorry and did not offer any kind of reconciliation or credit for the pool being closed the only two days we were there. Hotels.com helped us out and showed we are valued customers. We will never stay here again. I normally write good reviews and this time I was disappointed to have to write a negative one. The staff were pleasant but their manager never seemed to be available or at the property.
Nothing much
Quite a lot
Very clean and staff was very friendly
There’s nothing much around such as good places to eat or have a drink.
I tried to contact hotel management several times for a response and have been ignored, so now I’m bringing this to here. I am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding a series of issues my family experienced during our stay at Sonesta Select Tinton Falls Eatontown from June 19–21. We have stayed at the property before without any problems, which makes this experience even more surprising and concerning.
On the evening of June 19, after returning from dinner to Room 124, we were immediately met with an extremely strong odor of marijuana. This was not a faint smell; it was overwhelming and pervasive, as though marijuana had been smoked directly in the room for hours. I understand that this was likely not the case and suspect the odor may have entered through the ventilation system, most likely from the employee area located behind the front desk adjacent to our room.
While I recognize that marijuana is legal in New Jersey, guests - especially children - should not be subjected to such conditions in a hospitality setting. My 9-year-old son was gagging from the smell, and I did not feel it was safe or appropriate for him to sleep in that environment. Thankfully, we returned late in the evening and discovered the issue before going to bed.
The front desk staff promptly moved us to Room 135, for which I am appreciative. However, after packing all of our belongings and relocating, we arrived to find another unacceptable situation. There was a large section of ceiling material hanging down in the bathroom, approximately a foot long, with paint and plaster debris scattered throughout the bathtub (I have pictures). Once again, we had to gather our belongings and request another room change.
We were ultimately moved to Room 137, where we were finally able to settle in. However, by that point, what should have been a relaxing evening had turned into a frustrating and stressful ordeal involving two room changes, disruption of our evening, and concerns about my child's health and safety.
I am very troubled that the first room presented a potential air-quality issue and the second room had an obvious maintenance problem that should have been identified before being assigned to guests. These circumstances significantly impacted our stay and fell well below the standards we have previously experienced at your hotel.
Given the inconvenience, disruption, and safety concerns involved, I am requesting reimbursement for the night of June 19. I would also appreciate understanding what steps will be taken to investigate both the marijuana odor issue and the condition of Room 135 so that future guests do not experience similar problems.
Location
The elevator was down. The tv and the phone didn’t work. Kept asking for maintenance and they kept brushing me off. I was pissed!! They never fixed the situation
The photos and hotel’s description of the amenities is totally misleading!! The pool is always closed and dirty if it’s open. The grounds by the pool does not have nice chairs w/ cushions and umbrellas everywhere! No umbrellas anywhere. The place smells of overly using disinfectants as soon as you enter. The Snack Bar in the photos isn’t in operation!!!! Management needs to go
Just terrible
I booked the property mainly because it had a continental breakfast. In the morning, there was a sign saying the dining room was reserved and breakfast was only for a sports tournament and those involved. We had to leave the hotel and pay for breakfast elsewhere. Had I known we would not have access to the continental breakfast, I would have chosen a different hotel.
I really enjoyed my stay last month and I need to comeback to nj and would like to stay at your hotel I paid $124 to stay over night is there anyway I can get that price again
Thank you
Nothing everything was great
The sleeping area was nice and cool to sleep on a hot night
No breakfast offered for the price we pay to stay
The room itself was good
The bathroom curtain had stains
Nothing
The pool which was advertised here was closed. Parking was crowded.
Not much
