It was close to Mayo for our appointment and the valet parking was excellent.
The keys kept not working
The location was great! Staff was great. Rooms were comfy and spacious.
The pool was out of order so we had to walk to the other hotel outside. The subway was closed. Had we been informed about that, we would've rearranged our timeframe. The breakfast room was cold and so was the food. The staff should be checking temps for food safety concerns. Instead of that, they just lifted the lids, I'm assuming to check how much was in there.
I have never experienced a worse hotel stay. Especially the restaurant/bar and server named Ren. She was rude, not only to myself but numerous other patrons.
There also were elevator issues as well as issues that went unresolved. People staying there are using patients or visitors of the Mayo Clinic and it is a very difficult time for most. This is not a vacation destination.
Because of the treatment I only stayed one night and went to Centerstone Plaza instead. I highly recommend them. Never the Kahler.
To this date, they still have not released the charge on my credit card. Another example of poor service
Room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was satisfactory.

My wife had appointments for the Mayo and after traveling all day from Alabama we arrived early but this hotel is so accommodating and let us check in immediately so she could rest. Very good rooms and breakfast was good. This is the hotel we will be staying as we have to come back not long from now.
That it was fairly close to mayo.
Mold in the shower cleaning ladies weren't really available. Front desk was less than breakfast was the same every day ands they didn't leave tea and coffee out for daily use. Plus the pictures made the stray look really nice Ana it just wasn't what you saw in pictures.
Great location, clean, front desk woman was helpful and very kind and professional
Breakfast was cold. The breakfast room was cold. The pool was unavailable to use so we had to use the Kahler Grand pool, which was great, however we couldn't get there unless we went outside and down the block. We were there in February so it was cold out.
What started off good, went bad quickly. When I check in for my 2 night stay, I was originally given the wrong rate, but the staff checked with the manager and he came out and said they could definitely give me the convention rate that I was there for, and they would change it right then. Wonderful.
When I got back to my room that evening, neither the heat or the cable tv was working. I called down to the front desk repeatedly and nobody answered. I finally went down there and spoke with the woman at the desk. She ran in the back room, came out in a minute and said maintenance would be right up. I go back to my room and wait 45 minutes and they never came. I repeated the above phone calls and trip to the front desk, and was once again told they are on their way up... and they never come. It was obvious staff had no plans to address this. The heat kept dropping, I had no tv, and finally with it now almost midnight I went to bed with my coat on!
My heat did start working the 2nd day I was there, but my tv never worked. As long as I had heat, I decided I would just move on as the tv wasn't that big of deal.
Then the morning I was checking out, my bill was slid under the door. I was not given the discounted convention rate as promised! I went to the front desk to check on this, and the woman working said she could not do anything about this. So much for the staff that assured me the convention rate when I checked in! After my bad experience already this weekend at the hotel, I asked to speak to a manager. She said there was not one available, but did give me her manager, Lauren Chattman's business card and said I could email her.
When I got home, I emailed Lauren Chattman and explained my disappointment with my experience at the hotel. It is one thing to have problems with your room, and yet another thing to have staff not do a thing about it. (they never even offered to switch me to a different room!) Then to be overcharged as well! I suggested that I should not have to pay for Friday night when I did not have heat, and wanted the rate I was promised for Saturday night. Ms. Chattman did not even have the decency to apply!
My friends and I will not be back. This is the worst customer service I have ever experienced at a hotel.
Loved the subway access and 2 restaurants in building making late night meals easier
Hotel is so old and overpriced, looks like a old converted hospital and for $610 for 3 nights, even with close proximity the value for room isn't there rather pay for Hilton
Location and ease to get to mayo
The sink wasnt draining well
Close proximity to hospital
Hotel I really dated and in need of major upgrades.
I stayed at the Kahler Inn with my son while he had appointments at Mayo Clinic. The location is genuinely excellent, being connected to the subway system meant we could travel to and from the hospital without going outside in the cold weather, which was incredibly convenient during a stressful time.
Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. Our room (734) had a strong, unpleasant smell that made our stay uncomfortable. The ceiling had visible water stains and what appeared to be mold, which was concerning from both a health and cleanliness standpoint. The odor became so unbearable that when I needed to extend our stay in Rochester, I decided to move to a different hotel.
The bigger disappointment came after checkout. I realized within a couple hours that I’d left personal items in the room and immediately called the hotel. Instead of allowing me to simply walk over and pick them up (I was still in the area), I was told to fill out a form on their website and that someone would call me back. I left my number and also completed the online form since I really needed my belongings.
When no one called back, I went to the hotel in person. The receptionist said she needed to speak with the manager, so I waited in the lobby for about 15 minutes. When I checked back, I was told to leave my number again, still no manager came out to speak with me.
Two days passed with no response. On my last day in Rochester, I called one final time asking to retrieve my items and left my number again. I never received a callback.
The complete lack of communication and follow-through regarding my belongings was incredibly disappointing. For a hotel that serves families during difficult times, I expected much better customer service. The convenient location doesn’t make up for unhealthy room conditions and poor communication.
Due to medical reasons; I have stayed here multiple times and have reservations for February. Sai has been the most gracious, professional and pleasant representative I have ever encountered. She always has a smile on her face even when she is the only person working through the busiest of times.
Breakfast was good. Location to Mayo was why we picked this hotel.
The room had a bad smell, the ac unit had a rattle, the toilet would not flush all the way it took 2 or more times to flush. The beds were very uncomfortable. Parking was not good. They never told us there was parking on the south side just the north and only found out our last day there.
