Your historical, large touristy hotel with wonderful staff

The staff is absolutely fantastic and accommodating. The venue is also giant. I stayed in two different rooms at this property, the first was the economical room option, the other was a suite. The economical room option was wonderful. Perfect size, comfortable bathroom, a fan, balcony, everything. The suite was not so pleasant. It was
very far away from everything, it only had one lamp and one balcony chair, despite the enormity of the room and balcony. It felt like no one ever used it so it wasn’t really prepared for people to stay in it. The entertainment in the local restaurant was fantastic.

Cons:

The food is Ok, nothing great.

Fantastic hotel
Pros:

Beautifully landscape park in the hustle of Nairobi. We loved our large room that was perfect with two kids. Staff was extremely friendly

Pros:

The BBQ restaurant was great
The environment is beautiful and quiet
The dinner entertainment at the BBQ restaurant was amazing

Cons:

The rooms are outdated

The breakfast restaurant staff were slow and not attentive to customers to the point that we had to get cutlery ourselves. We asked for condiments and this only arrived after we had fi ished our breakfast.

Pros:

The grounds are beautiful
The BBQ restaurant was great as well as the entertainment however the waiters could do with paying more attention to their tables

Cons:

The rooms are outdated
Breakfast waiters could pay more attention to customers, they took too long to even offer tea at the table, some cutlery, salt or sugar not on the table and had to grab some from nearby tables. Some of them were great but overall could do with improving services

Pleasant staff, hotel needs full upgrade to attract business travellers
Pros:

Rooms need to be upgraded. We had three rooms, all had problems with the shower. Lights very dim in room, no desk space. Generally run down. We asked to be moved, and to be fair, they did. Staff very nice. And the room was slightly better, but again not up to modern standards.

Cons:

We chose the hotel based on it being near where we were working and to avoid the Nairobi traffic. However the photos and website do not depict how run down the place is. Also what used to be an oasis is now surrounded by development, so alas the hotel's former glory will be hard to attain without huge investment
