Location was good. Close to waterfront, restaurants, stores.

Cons:

I requested early check-in as we had been traveling all day and up since 3:30am. Mind you, I asked "only if the room was ready... I didn't want anyone to knock themselves out to clean". Was told that a room was ready and we were welcome to come early for a $40 charge. We passed and found something to do until 3pm check-in. The next morning, we were offered a late check-out for only a $30 charge. That one, I could understand, as leaving late cuts into the cleaning time for the next guest. But early??? This was new to me. I'll think hard next time before I book with this hotel chain.

There were sketchy people/cars in the parking lot. Didn't waste time moving from car to get inside the building.

The breakfast was disappointing. The sausage was not browned, just defrosted in the tray (they were warm). There was a new tray of eggs but they had tons of water in the tray. The room was great except the pillows. They were about the size of a throw pillow.

A Great Place To Stay In Portland, Maine!
Pros:

This is our 2nd year booking our stay in Portland, Maine at La Quinta. This area offers a fabulous brewery (Bunker Brewing), delicious Mexican food (Margaritas Restaurant) and a fun baseball outing (Hadlock Field, home of the Portland Seadogs), all in a easily walkable radius.

The rooms themselves at La Quinta are clean and a very good value for the rate and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast isn't terrific, but edible, and if you wanted to get something better, Tony's Donuts, Holy Donuts and Dunkin Donuts are all in very close proximity.

We will continue to book every year with La Quinta- A+ on service & value!
