i’m a medium so i can witness to how haunted it is, i left before 1 night
Stayed for 1 night at the Adelphi and was extremely impressed! The hotel has a reputation, as with most Britannia Hotels, but in my experience the negative reviews are entirely unfounded. It’s clear they are making investments in this hotel, with the room having a brand new bathroom which was spotlessly clean. The room itself was very impressive with tall ceilings and plenty of space with a chesterfield sofa and multiple storage spaces. The public areas were grand and spacious with plenty of spaces to relax and enjoy a drink. It was just a short stay for a last minute trip to Liverpool but I will be back to enjoy more of the facilities here in the near future.
My fifth stay.
Lovely clean room, plenty of towels, the room had everything we needed and more.
Very friendly staff.
The building is tired, yes, however it's just so iconic.
It is still so charming and very elegant in places.
I would never choose a chain hotel room over a building like this.
Long may it continue.
Location convenient for visit city BUT
ROOMS best described as tired, needing care, repair and cleaning.
FOOD poor quality at dinner. Only potatoes hard dry roast with soggy vegetables, dried up main dishes. Breakfast all fruit tinned, solid square cut scrambled eggs etc
BIGGEST ISSUE HEATING IN ROOMS
goes on after 6pm, on all night goes off 6am. No control in rooms so freezing at 5pm when you come in cold and wet to change and sauna hot at 4am when you are in bed. Hotel "staff" comment was we cannot have heating on all day!!
I accept no room service during stay, I do not need new towels or sheets during a 4 night stay BUT do you really expect to go to reception for a toilet roll, also no toilet brushes. Also as our room had no towel rail there was no where to hang wet towels except the top of shower screen, which at least gave it a dust.
Plus point many good places to eat outside/near to hotel and a Lidl where you could buy hot chocolate and tea bags just up the road.
Stayed here Thursday night as had last stayed here 25 years. Room on 3rd floor very dated with original 1914 decor in bedroom although the bathroom was modern and had been updated. Windows were original, filthy dirty and did not close properly. Room was cold with no radiator although heat coming in from somewhere as hot at night with no options to change setting. Wardrobe was original with no handle to open, bed was hard and uncomfortable. Not helped by a guest nearby screaming all night long so barely slept. The ground floor has been updated and has had money spent on it. Reception, bar, ballroom and dining area all clean and comfortable. Someone needs to spend a lot of millions updating the bedrooms and the windows. I feel its too big a hotel to keep updated even though reading the history of the hotel is amazing.
Our stay at the Adelphi Hotel was extremely disappointing. Despite its attractive exterior, the reality inside is completely different.
The room we were given was dreadful — full of damp and with no proper ceiling light, just two small lamps. The bathroom walls were dented (plasterboard), the door was damaged, and the silicone around the bathtub was peeling off. The shower curtain was dirty. Overall, the room felt neglected and far below an acceptable standard.
During our stay, we had to go down to reception twice to ask for clean towels. We were told to come and collect the towels and toilet paper ourselves from reception, which is frankly unacceptable and quite embarrassing for a hotel of this supposed category. The cleaning service was extremely poor. We requested that the dirty sheets be changed from the day we arrived, but they were never replaced. In the end, we removed them ourselves and slept in our sweatshirts to avoid direct contact with the bedding.
This experience fell well below what one would reasonably expect. Due to the poor condition of the room, the lack of hygiene, and the inadequate service, we believe compensation or a partial refund would be entirely appropriate.
We would not recommend this hotel.
Lovely hotel but a shocking girl behind the Bar. We had a query over a price
One round was £17.40 the next round was £22.90 a difference of £5.50 when we asked the question why the bar maid was rude , very abrupt loud voice. She was banging glasses and stomping around.
It was really embarrassing as. Everyone was looking. She finally printed both receipt's off and shouted “you wasn’t charged for the coffees on your first round” we said that fine we will pay for them we just could not understand the price change. She wouldn’t take any money for the first coffees. After looking at both receipts a coffee was £3.45 so times 2 equals £6.90 not £5.90 so it still was not correct but there was no talking the awful attitude she had.
Needless to say we’d left the bar. We complain at reception and was told the Bar Manager was not part of them and said they would pass it on but I am not too sure if that happened. The girl behind the bar put a very negative outlook on our stay. The incident excited on the 7th February tea time if management would like to view CCTV and she her stomping around. Whether we were right or wrong we had a query and the staff should have better customer service skills
Don't believe everything you read, yes the place looks dated but it's art deco take it in this is not a breeze block building that will be hardcore in 30 years time it will be still going
Fabulous hotel with so many amazing features - truly a reflection of past luxury. Lovely welcoming staff with spotless, comfortable rooms. Food was plentiful and delicious. Great location to visit the many sights of Liverpool. The bar prices were reasonable and excellent evening entertainment. Would definitely recommend a stay in this hotel.
This is a nice hotel, it's a bit overpriced for what you get. Rooms are big, beds are uncomfortable, no fresh air gets into room, no sockets beside bed, brekfast finishes at 9.30am but there is no information about hotel facilities in the room. And when I asked the staff there were no suggestions of an alternative place to get brekfast. Location is right in the city.
Location ideal for Lime Street Station and Liverpool Empire. Lounge is beautifully decorated.
However after browsing the photos of rooms on both Booking.com website and the website of Adelphi we booked a Superior Double room but the decor and features were nothing like the ones we'd seen, it was tired and in need of a refit. Very disappointing. The shower room had been updated but no heated towel rail or shelf for shampoo etc. No phone so not easy to contact reception in the middle of the night to report no heating. Thankfully we only stayed one night.
Unfortunately the only good thing about the hotel is location, it's 2 mins from lime street station and main centre, picture are extremely deceiving as its very run down and nothing nice to say about interior, Stafford pleasant, friendly and helpful
On arrival we parked on the carpark at the rear of the hotel cost £13.00 from 3pm to 3pm the car park is quite a dangerous car park in my opinion unlevel dark and isolated in some places.
In the hotel it is very dated which was lovely
our room was also very dated the bed was only a double both my husband and myself are big people so we struggled but the temperature of the room was great lovely warm and cosy
The bedroom could have done with a little renovation and update.
We paid £109.00 for a room and 2 breakfasts
This made our stay a little to costly for 1 night.
The location is great right in centre
The atmosphere was like most places in Liverpool friendly attentive
Brilliant! Loved this place. Been twice already. The architecture of this place is beautiful. Also, it's very haunted. Every time we go, we investigate. If you would like to see the paranormal evidence we have caught, please find us on YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok. Search "ParanormalProof666".
What a shambles. We had booked an executive suite after contacting the hotel directly to confirm that Dogs were welcome in said rooms. We were advised that they did. On arrival its turned out they didn't. The room we were given was disgusting with peeling paint and a Mish mash of tired furniture. We would have booked elsewhere if we had known. Unfortunately we couldn't as my wife was undergoing Cancer treatment the following morning. Reception were extremely unhelpful and we felt like we were a burden instead of a guest. Further more I arranged flowers to be delivered to cheer up my wife. This was signed for by reception and they lost them. All in All it's a very disappointing place. Felt like a very run down nursing home.
Went for a Caledonia trip with my husband. It was a Beatles tribute night. The hotel was lovely. Very big and had plenty character. There is different bars and places to sit. All the staff were lovely and very helpful. They couldn’t do more to help us. Parts of the hotel are a little dated and need some tlc but everywhere less clean and tidy. Our room was huge and spotless. The bathroom has been updated and was brand new. The only complaint was the room was very warm. We were told it was on a timer and housekeeping showed us where the fan was. There was hairdryer, iron and ironing board in the room. Plenty of space. The food was a buffet style and was amazing. Very hot and a nice range of choice. Breakfast was lovely as well. Fresh, hot food and good service. No complaints and I would take the some negative reviews with a pinch of salt.
Have stayed before and it wasxas good as ever.Perhaps even better. The bedroom had been refurbished but the character pieces have been left. The bathroom.New.modern.spotless. Public rooms still very special.Meals were 10 out of 10.Restaurant quality. Lots of choice from a well stocked buffet. Looking forward to going again very soon.Ideal location for theatres and shops.Very friendly staff.5 stars
We stayed at the Adelphi for 3 days over New year as we have done for 13 years. There are 6 of us in the group and we all love the hotel. Yes it is an old lady and it is tired but the hotel is being renovated floor by floor. All the staff were polite and helpful. The food was of a high standard at every meal time and there was plenty of choice. The New Years eve gala night was fantastic. The food was served piping hot and very swiftly. The DJ was absolutely fantastic and made sure guests had a good night. Our rooms were lovely with plenty of space and storage. The rooms were warm. We went in the Wave bar and the American bar which were both nice. We will be back again next year for New year. Thank you to all staff at the hotel who made our stay pleasurable and nothing was to much trouble.
Stayed for 3 days during new years. Not very nice people at the front desk. Took ages to check in. Mouldy room. Extremely uncomfortable beds in which you could feel the bed springs as you laid down. Dusty, found old food under the bed and element. Warm!!! room and no way to lower the temperature on the element. Bad service. Even though we stayed for several days no one cleaned the room, like emptied the dustbins or changed towels. Last but not least the breakfast was terrible and almost uneatable. Never going to stay here again.
I Felt Extremely Unsafe in this Hotel , I am a female Solo traveller, I was harassed right at their doorstep on my arrival, and then a member of their staff broke into my room at 4:30am and thankful got spooked by my dog.
I was charged 152 pounds for the night and they offered me a refund of 20pounds as a gesture of goodwill due to the inconvenience caused by their members of staff.
The room I stayed was extremely dusty, with mould on the walls, my allergies were triggered and the bed was extremely uncomfortable, you literally feel the springs on the bed while lying down. There was No phone in the room so no way to contact reception in case of emergency and when I even tried to ring the front dest from my mobile phone multiple times, there was no response . I had to leave and change hotels after feeling unsafe here .
I do not recommend this for anyone, there are better hotels within a stone throw of the and online websites should reconsider having this on their website.
