Double processing payment recovered through bank - but Motel One's dishonesty remains inexcusable

Cons:

After months of fighting, my BANK ruled in my favor and I am about to recover the money. This proves I was right all along. But the experience remains a cautionary tale.
THE STORY:
We booked through Booking.com for a group trip (13 people, 7 rooms). Payment system glitched, created two identical bookings 5 minutes apart. Booking sent only ONE receipt - no way to know both processed.
Discovered at check-in. Immediately reported to reception. Manager? "Unavailable" for all 4 nights. Second room sat completely empty the entire stay.
Escalated to Motel One Corporate. First email: "Good news! Marked as refundable, you'll get your money back."
I asked for written confirmation. Second email (same person!): "Actually, fully booked, cancellation impossible, no-show."
Two completely opposite stories from the same Senior Manager. Which was the lie?
THE PROVABLE LIE:
Hotel claimed "fully booked" upon check-in.
I personally checked Booking.com that morning - 5+ rooms available for identical dates.
They didn't just refuse the refund. They LIED about their justification.

THE RESOLUTION:
Booking.com refused to help (demanded impossible 3-month-old screenshots).
I filed a bank chargeback with all evidence.
RESULT: BANK RULED IN MY FAVOR. I am.about to recover the full double payment amount.

It was an excellent stay, we are glad we went there

Hotel nie spełnił moich oczekiwań.

Patio hotelu jest bardzo ładne.

Cons:

To mój pierwszy negatywny komentarz na temat jakiegokolwiek hotelu. A to dlatego, że zamiast standardowego pokoju, który mieliśmy zamówiony dostaliśmy pokój z drzwiami do drugiego pokoju przez co nasz rytm dnia ustanawiali goście właśnie z pokoju obok. Było słychać wszystko: budzik, poranną toaletę, rozmowy itd.
Minusem był też stan łazienki, obdrapane lustro, brud w narożnikach pod prysznicem. Brak jednorazowych kosmetyków jak patyczki, waciki czy balsam do ciała. To nie pierwsza moja wizyta w Motel One więc spodziewałam się standardu jak w innych miastach tej sieci.
