Pierre and the rest of the staff were great! Rooms were clean. Shower pressure was amazing 👏 location is perfect 👌
We stayed here three nights. After three other hotels. This was the worst hotel of our stay. Tired , worn and in need of updating. The three stars are for location close to Royal street, quite nights sleep and Pierre. The only friendly person in the hotel we came across. A broken iron , chipped furniture, scratches and dents on the floor
Broken telephone. A sub standard TV. A lift which made us question how safe it was. A pool which was like a pond. Furniture left out in pouring rain.
. Free coffee and water. They did fetch extra coat hangers. I wish we hadn't have u packed i should have asked for a different room. We booked this with a travel agent . I wouldn't have chosen here. Nor should you. Sorry,New Orleans is lovely if you stick to anywhere other than the crazy street. I see someone got a upgrade we sadly didn't. The hotel wasn't busy.
Très calme malgré sa proximité avec le quartier français et Bourbon street
C’était vraiment au dessus d’un trois étoiles
For quiet when you want it, yet footsteps from the mayhem of Bourbon Street when that's what you want - you can't go wrong at Hotel le Marais! If you're fortunate, as I was, to be greeted upon arrival by the most accomodating and good-humored Pierre - then the tone for your entire stay shall have been set, and at a high bar. Be sure to seize the opportunity to chat up Collette about the little ones in her life as she's fixin' the coffee service. The coffee's very good; the conversation's apt to be even better!
The location was excellent. Easy walking distance to shops and restaurants . Very close to Jackson square. You will learn to look down at your feet to avoid pot holes, etc. most street signs are literally ON the Sidewalk.Get an “upgraded room” if you can…Our room had 2 queen beds and a newly renovated walk in shower, also a tiny balcony with a view of the pool below. No refrigerator tho. Very clean, not noisy.
Staying here felt like being dropped right into the rhythm of the French Quarter. The location is easily the biggest highlight—step outside and you’re immediately surrounded by everything that makes New Orleans come alive.
I arrived during a major festival, so access into the area was a bit restricted. That meant a short walk with luggage, but it also meant I was instantly immersed in live music, crowds, and that unmistakable city buzz. Not a bad welcome at all.
The hotel itself leans into its age. It has character, but you can also feel that it hasn’t been heavily modernized. My room was comfortable and worked well for what I needed—mainly a place to rest between long days out exploring.
There were a couple of minor inconveniences during my stay. The elevator had a bit of a personality of its own—slow at times and occasionally hesitant. I also had a brief encounter with a small insect in the bathroom one morning.
That said, what stood out most was the people. The staff were consistently kind and approachable, which made a difference and added a welcoming touch to the experience.
If your priority is location and you don’t mind a property with a few quirks, this place does the job and puts you exactly where you want to be.
Proximity to the French quarter; the staff was very pleasant; nice courtyard with small pool and lots of outdoor furniture for relaxing
As we were getting settled I moved a large upholstered chair and discovered a previous guests used socks and underwear. The louvered wood blinds were broken and didn’t close easily. The bathroom off the bar was in poor repair with no water from one sink and no soap from one dispenser. Overall, just seems to be in poor condition. No fault of the hotel but our next door neighbors were having a very loud very long verbal argument at 1:30 am and finally stopped when I pounded on the wall. I know our experience may be a one off uniquely poor stay but there is nothing that would draw us back to the hotel.
Great location! Very nice hotel! Clean and friendly! Pierre (front desk) was so kind, fun and helpful. As for location, you are a half block off Bourbon Street (and still quiet in the hotel) very walkable to the water front with the shops and markets. The "blocks" are short. Don't be intimidated by the maps. So many restaurants, bars, entertainment and sights to see in the French Quarter all walking distance from Hotel le Marais. For us Bourbon Street was a must see, however don't stop there. Keep on walkin'... New Orleans has so much more to offer.
Rooms are nice as you can tell they've been renovated. The facility is nice and clean, and they keep the inside very cool. My issue is that the internet performance was so poor that it was practically unusable. The bandwidth was less then 1 Mb per second, as equal to dial-up modem speeds. I wanted to talk to the owner/manager, Michael Dezura, as I could provide an inexpensive solution that they could incorporate (being a tech guys) but the front desk clerk wouldn't let me speak to him. Ultimately, their poor Internet bandwidth cost me dollars and impacted my job performance.
The positive: The location is fabulous, right in the heart of the French Quarter; The hotel & room was clean and smelled fresh; The bed & pillows were comfortable;
The negative: No mini-frig or microwave (I have come to expect this in any hotel and it was greatly missed); No breakfast; Make sure to confirm your room selection. Upon arrival we were told the type of room I reserved was no longer available. We managed to get a similar room, but it made me wonder about their practices.
The location is perfect . Close to everything but not noisy at night. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. We had a couple of issues with the plumbing in our room but these were fixed very quickly. Their recommendations for restaurants were perfect as there are a lot of overpriced tourist traps in NOLA.
I have no complaints about this place and heartily recommend it to fellow travelers.
Location was good
Price was alittle high
Our room was clean, well furnished, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet. Great location! The staff were pleasant.
The bathroom had rusty fixtures and needed more towel bars or hooks. The only towel bar was in the shower. The Wi-Fi was unusably slow. Housekeeping came twice during our four-day stay but never replaced anything - coffee, tissue, shampoo, soap - or even emptied the water in the ice bucket. And the room really needs a refrigerator for guests to store cold drinks, leftovers, etc. There was plenty of space in the room for one.
Worst night ever in a New Orleans hotel. Loud noises until 4 am. Never again. Stay away please!!!!!
Convenient location. Quiet. Beautiful courtyard and pool. Nice bar. Coffee each morning.
The rooms need refrigerators for drinks and food. Also, we hoped to have pay to view movies on the TV, but no luck.
Very clean and quiet. It was an oasis from all the partying, which we also enjoyed. Great location.
Wish there was a refrigerator in the room.
Super charming hotel a moment's walk from Bourbon St. My friend and I enjoyed talking with the friendly staff. Beds were very comfy, room was clean. We didn't have any noise issues. Also very walkable to the French Quarter, Jackson Square, St. Louis Cemetary, and shopping. Only things that could have made it better are a warmer pool and providing a small frig and microwave in our room. We couldn't keep any of our delicious leftovers.
