The Biltmore Los Angeles is a memorable experience. The rooms are well appointed, staff friendly, and food is beautifully prepared. The hotel would benefit from keeping there inline information updated
Jose M. Chica made our stay so special! He showed us around and made sure we felt like special guests. Looking forward to going back next year with my sister.
Nice and historical hotel with a great story. The entrance and lobby are exceptional and walking just through makes you feel like a movie star. However when moving towards your room . For me this hotel isn't offering not a 5-star experience. Out of the 10 rooms we booked as company 4 people had to request an other room due to broken airco's, or very high noise. New rooms where offered immediately, however the original ones should not have been offered to any quest.
Not a bottle of water offered in the room, fridge is empty and making a lot of noise, coffee maker in room is using filtering coffee in a plastic cup with a wooden stick, bathroom outdated and an installed shampoo dispenser.
On the more positive side the cleaning is good, the hospitality service is good as well. Great pictures are made inside.
So overall: so much potential, just update it a bit. :) or adjust to a 4-start hotel to manage expectation better.
Update (8 hours after check-out): After leaving the hotel, we realized we had forgotten a refrigerated prescription medication (for multiple sclerosis) in the minibar. When we contacted the hotel, we were told nothing had been reported and nothing could be done. This was a critical medication, and the lack of care or effort to safeguard it was extremely disappointing. In other hotels, when this has happened to us, we have always been able to recover the medication — this is the first time we have not.
Update (Check-out day): To make matters worse, at check-out I was charged an additional $3 per person, per day as a “mandatory tip” for breakfast — which was already included in our room rate. For two people over six nights, this resulted in a $36 charge plus taxes, despite the fact that I had been leaving cash tips daily.
At no point during our stay — neither at the front desk nor in the restaurant — were we informed about this charge. The issue is not the fee itself, but the complete lack of transparency. This should be clearly communicated at check-in or in the restaurant, not as a surprise at check-out.
Although our $500 deposit was eventually released, the additional charge was still applied. This feels completely unjustified and unacceptable for a hotel at this price point.
Original review: It is an expensive hotel with an excellent location in Downtown Los Angeles and a good breakfast. However, the experience was far below expectations.
During our stay in room 352 (six nights), housekeeping failed to service our room on our last day, even though we left at 11:00 a.m. and placed the “Service Please” sign. We returned exhausted to find no clean linens, no towels, and trash still in the room.
Housekeeping also lacked attention to basic details throughout the stay — one day there was no toilet paper, and on the last day we were left without shampoo. When we called for towels and mentioned the room had not been serviced, the response was not very friendly.
Overall, these issues completely overshadow the positive aspects of the hotel, including the staff’s general attention, the breakfast, and even its unbeatable location. It is not acceptable to pay this much and not receive proper service.
This is the first and last time we choose this hotel in Los Angeles. I would recommend looking for other accommodation options.
Check in was great, easy to locate, parking was easy. And Albert at the front was awesome. Place is real close to Grand Central Market. Would recommend to stay. We came here during the first weekend for the full marathon.
Nice hotel. Great corner room. Comfortable bed. However WiFi download speed is less than 1Mbps as verified with multiple speed tests. Unfortunate because I had some business to take care of.
I want to recognize Jarley M. in guest services. She did an outstanding job to assist me. She followed through and took care which made my stay at the Biltmore even more than I expected. The hotel is an amazing historical landmark worth experiencing in Los Angeles.
Great check In, staff was efficient and welcoming. The lobby was magnificent. However, the illusion melted upon leaving the elevator. The hallway leading to room was very dated and had the "Shining" feel to it. Halls were lined with cheesy poster quality contemporary B listed "Movie Stars". Everything felt like being in a Hollywood Motel 6.., OK, Holiday Inn.
Room was dated 1980. Dings and chips noted everywhere. But luckily, everything was functioning. Bed and Linens were comfortable and clean.
The Service Staff were friendly and kind.
Given the options in LA, I don't think I will come back as a guest. But the Biltmore Lobby would still make a fantastic venue and back drop.
All Props, no Substance.
I hope the Biltmore gets a rehabilitation that it deserves. In desperate need for a gay interior designer.
The room I had looked like a motel and was in a desperate need of renovation. The shower tiles were peeling and the flickering light made it look rundown. The carpet had random wet spots and the paint needed major touch ups. The building itself was amazing and there is a lot to take in. The art, history and architecture is so beautiful but I wish my room matched the rest of the building. The location is in downtown LA and it can definitely get interesting, if you’re not use to it then I would recommend using a car service if you leave. The room was definitely overpriced for what I got but if you take into account the rest of the building was priced decent. The breakfast was a bit overpriced and did not look too appealing but it was actually pretty good. The staff was also great with the minimal interactions I had with them.
Very friendly hotel and staff and very good services
Very close to downtown , easy to locate , nice food and beverages, historical place.
The downtown location was great forgetting around. It would, however, have been helpful if the front desk staff was more familiar with local tourist attractions , without continually consulting with their smart phones.
In spite of it being a historic hotel, they had no in-house staff tours;; I was directed to an outside company, with a $25 fee.
The bathroom is extremely small, the tub has no grab bars, and the hook on the back of the door is at the very top, so unless you’re quite tall, useless.
It would have been very helpful to have a pad of paper and pen provided in the room.
The public areas of the Biltmore are opulent and gives that early 20th century historic luxury vibe. That's all great and maybe you want to just walk through as a tourist and see it.
But staying here is a more spartan experience. The room I had was pretty basic. The windows are still classic single pane double hung windows. Which basically means that street noise pours right through them. You can open them about 6" which is nice to let some fresh air in. But they don't seal tight when they're closed. At night, the garbage trucks, the cars with loud exhausts, the folks outside screaming or playing loud music makes it hard to get a good night's sleep. I was on the 8th floor.
The desk chair was wobbly and not terribly comfortable. If I had been planning to work from the hotel room, it would've been a long day.
The bathroom was fine -- it was a rectangular cast iron tub with shower curtains which made it feel a little cramped but not terrible. The annoying thing was the wall-mounted soap dispensers. One was empty and there was no way to remove it from the wall to signal to the cleaning people that it needed to be refilled.
The price was fair for a downtown hotel, but there are many better options in the immediate area so I won't stay here next time I'm in LA.
Classy place ! Clean , nice people, reccomended for coming back !
The classic music , for those who love it , gives a perfect mood and a state of mind relaxed .
Good location for visiting LA.
Beautiful, historic hotel with friendly helpful service. Great breakfast!
Gorgeous historical hotel let down by chintzy corner cutting. Five star prices for harsh lighting, minimalist rooms (no bathrobes? Really?).
It’s our first time staying at the hotel. I was really impressed by Mr.Paul from Bell department, whom support by explaining all the place to explore in LA without hesitation. What a truly hospitality! Thank you Paul.
Clean, professional, and a lot of history at the Biltmore. Employees were very helpful and friendly. Room was clean and very well prepped. Will definitely be coming back
I had a wonderful experience staying at The Biltmore Los Angeles. I was greeted by a front desk agent named Khanh who immediately set the mood for a great stay. With his warm spirit, accommodating customer service and wanting to do everything he could to make sure that my requests were met, I knew I was going to enjoy my time here and I certainly did!
Also the front desk manager was very kind and proactive when I brought a small issue to his attention.
I really wanted to like this historic building. But the experience was not good, leaving me unable to think of one good memory of my visit. My wife became quite ill, probably related to mould in the bathroom. I didn’t sleep at all, on either of the two nights. The constant noise had no redeeming qualities. Sirens. Engines revving. Machine noises at droning low frequencies. Soundproof windows would have made all the difference. So would a comfortable bed.
The charm and history of this place are undeniable; it offered such a unique, memorable backdrop to my trip, perfectly complementing the convenient location for all my activities.
