Could not fault our stay, they have set a high standard which it will be difficult to beat next time we book!
Great location - amazing reception staff and concierge- lovely smell! Gorgeous rooms
The bar staff were unhelpful and rude and I asked for reception to arrange for a call from the manager to outline our concerns. No call was made and we weren’t given the option to explain the challenge. Such a shame as the staff on the whole were amazing!
The University Arms Hotel is friendly and well situated for walking around Cambridge centre. The staff are welcoming and eager to help. The rooms are airy and don’t feel stuffy which make for a good night’s sleep. The bed was clean and comfortable. And the hot drinks making facilities in the room are good. The breakfast had a good selection to choose from.
I think there may have been a little rush on getting our room ready and it wasn’t given a thorough clean—the nail clipping discovered by the bed was a little red flag. But apart from wall scuffs and well-worn carpets, the rest was clean. And when reported, the staff dealt with the nail quickly and apologetically. The room was small (King) with only one comfortable chair to sit on. The other was a desk/hard chair. There wasn’t a bath, just a shower. Not a deal-breaker but given the cost a bath would have been a welcome luxury. The attached restaurant was average considering the cost. The bar service was the slowest I’ve ever seen. Our first drinks took over half and hour to arrive. We dined there on the first night out of necessity, I’d recommend going further afield if staying.
Parking is limited, and costs £40 per night.
Elegant confortable, everybody very kind and professional.
Nothing
Läget och den underbara brittiska stilen. Kunnig och hjälpsam personal. Bodde på 8 vån med utsikt över ett stort grönområde.
Fin konst på väggarna.
Amazing atmosphere and service. From check in to check out staff was the most pleasant I have experienced. Lovely area for drinks. Location was perfect.
Lovely hotel, Great location
We liked everything, but they definitely need more bar staff as we waited 20 mins to get served, lots of people getting frustrated by this.
Great location overlooking Parkers Piece. Short walk to the very centre of Cambridge.
Very friendly and helpful staff who went the extra mile in my 60th birthday celebrations.
Car parking on site is limited to 20 spaces so we had to park in Queen Ann car park nearby.
Lovely location next to Parkers Piece. Short walk to the very centre of Cambridge.
The hotel has limited car park spaces on site (only 20) so we had to park in Queen Ann car park a few minutes walk away.
L’atmosfera, il profumo, la posizione
Niente
All good except mobile shower head only cold and horrid marmalade in plastic containers
See above. Buy large tins of quality marmalade and decant into selfhelp bowls
My wife treated me to this visit as a birthday surprise. On arrival we were both very happy as the hotel was beautiful and the welcome we received was very professional and pleasant. We were early but the hotel were happy to keep our luggage whilst we explored Cambridge.
We returned later to be given our room card and informed our bags were in the room, brilliant!
Very nice hallways with pictures and art of Cambridge.
The room was huge and very bright. My wife had chosen a Superior room overlooking the park.
I noticed the TV was on a pole at the edge of the room about 3ft high. Nothing wrong with that but the screen was facing the floor!
Called reception and maintenance arrived to carry out a bodge with a screwdriver.
We chose to eat in the hotel restaurant that evening.
We were sat at our table quickly but then forgotten. 20 minutes went by before I managed to catch someone’s eye. He alerted someone else who took our drinks order. Food was mediocre, I’m not a food snob but it was nothing to shout about. Just a note, it was very cold in the restaurant, I had a shirt on but felt I could do with a coat. Cocktails were stunning! Best Mojito I’ve had for years.
Cocktails I’m happy to pay a premium for but I was very cross to find during the meal I had been charged £15 for a single Cambridge gin and tonic, not on!
We went on to the bar for another cocktail then to the room.
Bed very comfy and the room nice and warm. We noticed the bathroom window didn’t shut properly but thought nothing of it until midnight when the revellers started coming out of the bars. As the window wouldn’t close the noise was unbearable. This went on till about 3am so we had a very disturbed night. The position of the room I believe it should have secondary glazing. Due to the poor sleep we slept in. Looked forward to my shower as it was large and looked inviting.
We had no pressure so the shower would not work. Another call to reception, they couldn’t get an engineer to us so we had to shower in a room the next floor down. Not ideal.
Overall a lovely looking hotel and room. Needs attention to detail as do so many places that just need to do the small things , like check everything works.
Not 4 star in my view as the detail is not attended to
Fantastic. Great location, staff couldn’t do enough, super helpful and thoughtful.
Even my cosy room was well designed, with every detail there to meet my needs
Good friendly service. Good room, the only minor grumble being that the mobile shower head produced cold water only. Very good breakfast but you really shouldn't provide rubbish marmalade in horrid, environment-unfriendly little plastic containers.
Lovely comfortable room hotel handy for exploring.
Everywhere was a little dark.
