Great hotel, fantastic location.
My room has condescended dripping from roof above the bed during my stay, unpleasant to be woken up with water dripping on bed and face.
Perfect location and beautiful hotel! Steps away from the cathedral and quaint shops and restaurants. The room was comfortable and cool since it was 35 degrees outdoors ! Great historic building and beautifully decorated. We didn’t eat there but the breakfast smelt fantastic! The staff were friendly and helpful. Parking on site .. overall a perfect experience.. thank you
Location was central and within walking distance of the train station.
The room we had needed a little tlc, room was small with very little room each side of bed, if you plan to stay here perhaps upgrade to a larger room. No ventilation for bathroom, mirrors in bathroom and bedroom steamed up, front of tv and the wallpaper in bedroom became damp. The air con didn’t seem to work, we did report to reception but unfortunately nothing appeared to be done. We thought the quality of food was poor. Personally I would say 3 star hotel, hubby thought 2 star.We would not stay here again, but saying that there were return guests.
The location of this hotel is simply unbeatable. Situated right by Norwich Cathedral, every other major site is within easy walking distance. Norwich itself is an extremely walkable city, but staying in the middle of it all meant we could hit all the tourist destinations on foot. I'm sure there are more luxurious hotels in Norfolk, but if your aim is to do Norwich without a car, then I would absolutely recommend this hotel just based on the location.
Absolutely loved all the lounging areas scattered around the hotel.
The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
Would stay again if returning to Norwich.
Just a few minor niggling issues. The breakfast buffet ran out of items a few times. The "fresh" fruit looked like it had seen better days and was totally unappetising. We had requested a firm mattress, but not only were we not offered a room with one, no mention of our request was made. Decor in the rooms was soulless (shame, as this is the oldest hotel in the UK). But, none of these things would put me off returning.
The location, the service and the staff.
I didn’t like the fact that the shower head, though large and powerful, was fixed so that I couldn’t direct the flow of water where I wanted. I also didn’t care for having to step into the bath to use the shower. On reflection, I should have asked for a room more suitable for disabled people. Odd comment, possibly, but the wallpaper was unpleasant! Finally, although staff helped me, it was tricky having to use stairs to access the lift. And I needed a small fridge in my room.
The ambience, location were ideal
The Bentley wasnt available for our visit
Breakfast. The choice of food and the service were both excellent. The cleaning ladies were all lovely and working so hard to present every room in an immaculate condition. All the servers in the breakfast room were so helpful, in particular the young lady with the reddish hair and a plait. Lastly the location is perfect, just opposite the cathedral.
Can’t think of anything. I am elderly and would have liked more pillows as I sleep sitting up, but I’m sure that if I had asked they would have been provided.
The location is great and in a lovely and historic part of Norwich. Friendly staff and clean and comfortable rooms.
The good location means that if you have the windows open it can be a bit noisy. The lack of air conditioning also means the room could be very hot in the warmer months although in room fans are provided.
Location
Room was dated and areas not clean ., sink resin blocked partial damage dirt rising when sink drained ..
Windows external glass held in with insulating tape !
Great location, attentive staff, excellent food.
Great location next to the cathedral. Easy car parking with EV charging.
Airless - need to open more windows.
The breakfast room was stuffy and stale and cooked food smelt throughout the hotel.
Our room was poorly lit and a bit tatty.
Curtain hooks missing. Lumpy old pillows. Stained bathroom floor. All rather unloved and no attention to detail.
We enjoyed the room very much. Very unique. Large writing desk. Helpful staff. Great bar and restaurant. Good location.
Great shops and restaurants nearby. A charming hotel!

No complaints.
The location in the centre of the city was great. Parked the car at the hotel and did not need to use it again all weekend
It is a quirk of the building due to its age that floors are uneven and steps are different sizes. Maybe some more warnings for guests who may have mobility issues, wearing high heels or admiring the build rather than watching their feet when walking about.
Location, historical aspect of hotel, links to CJ Sansom's novel, 'Tombstone'.
