Mega-sized room, never seen anything like it. The parking, albeit 50$ a night, is very secure and well managed.
The restaurant almost charged me for food that's supposed to be included, it was a bit of a hassle to get into the private parking lot, there should be an option to book a place in advance and have the place open for you when you arrive.
Excellent location, clean room, comfortable bed.
Our room was a bit too warm. The A/C did not cool enough for us to sleep comfortably.
Location, room size, cleanliness, comfortable beds. We very much appreciated the separate room with a vanity that allowed one person to do makeup, etc. while another used the bathroom, though the vanity could do with better lighting. The full kitchen with a full size refrigerator was very convenient, as well.
The parking was quite tight, but we were able to manage.
My wife and I stayed here in March 2026. It's very clean and walking distance to a lot of things in DC, but it is clearly very old and dated. Upgrades have been made like new flooring and paint but it's still very obvious. Two entrances on both ends of the block make it confusing for Uber pick ups especially if your room is on the other side of the hotel. The room itself had some room but it wasn't necessarily cool or warm temperature. Bathroom used a lot of smaller tiles. Staff were all friendly and helpful when we had questions.
Not a bad hotel for the price but I wouldn't stay here again, I'd choose a newer more up to date hotel next time.
Clean and comfortable beds
I was charged $60 after paying for the entire stay month in advance & the bathtub wouldn’t drain properly and the tv was horrible quality
The location is great for walking to the National Mall, the Wharf and Georgetown. Foggy Bottom Metro is about a 10- minute walk for destinations farther away. Being on Campus is a nice environment. Western Market with various restaurants and CVS for picking up supplies are 5 minute walk away. Love the kitchen, well- stocked with everything you’d need. Staff was pleasant. Good housekeeping.
Air conditioner was loud.
It is located in a prime location, if your visit's main reason is visiting the National Mall and Memorial Parks.
Also, as it is located basically inside the George Washington Uni, you may enjoy some budget (but pretty nice) food options if you head to the North. (For example, GW Deli)
The Hotel's building and facilities had their primetime a few decades ago, but the effort is definitely there from the staff to run it clean and well.
I had some loud neighbours, but when I reported the situation at the reception, they sent security to handle the situation.
All the staff were so welcoming. Special mention for Gerald in the frontline & Keith at the bar. The place was clean and close to everything.
Nothing
State Plaza Hotel on E Street is in a perfect location for exploring DC. It’s within walking distance of The Lincoln Memorial and the reflecting pool. You can catch a trolly tour right by The Lincoln Memorial. There is a great restaurant within walking distance called Founding Farmers, and the hotel has a nice bar and restaurant where we enjoyed breakfast before going out to explore. The hotel is well maintained and clean and the room is so spacious and has a kitchen with a full size refrigerator. They provide a bag of ice for the freezer. The maid service is excellent and the employees are friendly and accommodating. We definitely would choose State Plaza Hotel again.
Large rooms. Very clean. Staff very helpful. I will be staying here again. Feels like home. Staff really has pride in the hotel. Parking is well worth the price to not have to worry about anything.
Location was great and it was very easy to walk around.
I didn’t realize that you would have to pee overnight to park so it’s anywhere from $35-$50 just for parking
