Amazing location and experience at Minerva!
Pros:

By far, our favorite hotel stay during our travels through Milan, Florence, and Rome! The location is unbeatable, we were literally able to walk to it easily with our luggage from the train station. It is situated on a beautiful plaza, with a rooftop bar, that provided the most amazing views of the city! Would stay here again in a heartbeat, as well as recommended to our family and friends! Our suite was absolutely stunning, with beautiful fresh, modern, and inviting color scheme, and well appointed! Our family of four stayed comfortably in this room, that provided a large king bedroom, and two day beds for our kids. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating with every request! Breakfast was delicious and provided a wide variety! Can’t say enough good things about this hotel!

Great hotel in ideal location
Pros:

Location ideal for the train station and tram to the airport and also a few minutes walk from the historic centre of the city

Cons:

Room facilities were not great, no tea/coffee making equipment.
Breakfast was good, but tea/coffee only available to order, we prefer to help ourselves

Trip Overshadowed by Lobby Theft and Limited Follow-Up
Cons:

My partner’s travel bag was stolen in the hotel lobby during checking. Surveillance video later showed two men following us inside - one distracted my partner while the other walked off with the bag, all in a matter of seconds.

A few concerns: The lobby, which opens directly onto Florence’s largest piazza, is expansive and highly permeable, but seems to be often staffed by a single receptionist. When we realized what had happened, another staff member came out from the office but seemed unsure how to proceed, explaining that only the general manager could review the security footage, and that he was not immediately available.

The following morning, having lost our sense of security there, we decided to end our stay early. To his credit, the GM apologized in person, assuring us that an insurance claim would be filed, and didn’t charge us for the night. Since then, however, we’ve received no meaningful updates regarding the claim.

For what it’s worth, the room itself at Grand Hotel Minerva was spacious and adequately appointed, if somewhat dated. Breakfast staff were warm and attentive.

Unfortunately, without a basic sense of security - and lack of thorough follow-up - those positives ultimately mean very little.

Enjoyable in every way
Pros:

Friendly professional staff, clean comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, great location to all the major sights and more.

Cons:

One room was very hot despite turning temperature down but, easily remedying with a fan sent up from the front desk.

Couldn't be better
Pros:

Absolutely awesome hotel. Large comfortable well appointed rooms. A super attentive staff. Just a few minutes walk from almost everything you'd want to see in Florence. Outstanding breakfast. Staff gave us great restaurant recommendations. A few minutes walk from the train station. Despite it's location on a large piazza, it was perfectly quiet at night. Because we were there during the winter, we didn't have a chance to use the rooftop pool.
