Excellent in every respect.
The hotel, grounds, room and dining were excellent and we would stay there again.
This hotel is located in a beautiful old building with a gorgeous garden. The rooms are charming. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast each day and the bar in the evening. Nice wine selection! Its a great locattion for visiting Chatsworth House and the beautful scenery of the Peak Distict.
Utterly Charming!
A lovely hotel set in a beautiful garden. Wonderful food and staff - such that I immediately booked to return for a couple of days a week later.
This hotel is absolutely beautiful, the atmosphere is so relaxed and peaceful. The hall is a gem of a example of a country gentlemans residence tastful, elegant and so well maintained. Our room was a garden room which was bright and cheerful the bathroom was simple but well thought out. The gardens are wonderful, complete with a functioning kitchen garden. The food is delicious so many well defined flavours thoughtfully put together and perfectly cooked. Breakfast was to the same standard. The staff however take the hotel to an even higher level. Thoughtful, cheerful, professional while being friendly is an art and they've mastered the it. It was our 40th wedding anniversary and they even gave us a card sighned by the staff. There are many 4 star hotels out there but this one is rather special.
We booked Fischer's for lunch to celebrate my sister's birthday. We have stayed and eaten here on many occasions, and were not disappointed on Sunday. The staff are all extremely friendly, helpful and professional. The surroundings are beautiful. We arrived early for drinks on the terrace, and then enjoyed a delicious Sunday lunch in the lovely restaurant. Afterward we had a walk around the gardens, which was delightful. We all enjoyed the experience and had a wonderful afternoon. I can feel a mini-break coming on for the near future! Hope to see you again soon. Thank you to all the staff. xx
We stayed for 2 nights in a garden room. We had booked the dinner package, so the taster menu the first night followed by the 3 course the following night. I can honestly say that this is the most wonderful hotel we have stayed in, and we travel a lot. Firstly the service. Impeccable, friendly, relaxed, professional, and attentive, a mixture that can be hard to achieve. It is so evident that they enjoy their working environment, and really care about the customers' experience. The food was incredible. We have eaten at many Michelin star restaurants, and the food here is easily Michelin star quality. The taster menu was sublime, so much so we upgraded to have it again the second night. The ambience of the restaurant is intimate and somewhat homely. The room we stayed in was also lovely. Whilst not in the house, you have a level of privacy which is enhanced by a lovely garden seating area outside. Sitting reading a book whilst watching the abundant butterflies amongst the wild flowers is enchanting. High quality bed linen and pillows (always important), and a spacious modern bathroom. They are lovely rooms. The decor of this hotel is also a sight to behold. Bold and lustrous wallpapers which somehow fit with the age of the property. The gardens are beautiful, and rather than having an overly manicured feel, they embrace wildflowers, and various areas are a delight to explore. The gardeners are lovely to talk to, and are clearly skilled at their craft.
It is not a cheap hotel, nor should it be, and we felt that it was worth every penny. Normally there is something we could criticise, and our experience of the hospitality industry at the high end over the last couple of years has not been good, and seems to have deteriorated a lot, but not here. We can't wait to return , and will. Value for money? Well if you want excellent service, amazing food, a homely and unpretentious environment, stay here. Am already looking for dates to return over Christmas!
We were so looking forward to our first visit to Fischers having heard so much about it.
We went for Sunday lunch and have to say the service was excellent. Unfortunately the food didn’t match the service. Sadly Fischers seems to be trading on its previous Michelin starred reputation.
Our main courses were good and a generous portion once the various vegetables were added, well cooked and presented.
The salmon starter was overall too sweet and all one texture.
A second course of jersey royals and asparagus promised much but failed to deliver.
We are used to fine dining prices but one small sliced jersey royal and half a very small asparagus spear with a tablespoon of seaweed veloute plus a sprinkling of pine nuts was ridiculously priced at £18. Three bites and it was gone, Indeed it was more expensive than the other two courses on offer which contained either meat or fish.
Puddings were tiny.
I will happily pay for outstanding food but this wasn’t. Shades of Emporer’s new clothes I’m sad to say. There’s nothing worse than feeling you’ve been taken for a fool.
I doubt very much that we will visit again despite the staggeringly beautiful surroundings.
Excellent location for touring the Peak District. Comfortable and welcoming hotel. Beautiful gardens. Food and drinks were top-rate, with prices to match.
I really don’t know where to start!
What an incredible experience.
We were greeted at the door by a very polite young lady and shown to our room.
We stopped in a room called Granby over looking the most beautiful and well kept gardens. The room was outstanding everything you could want tea and coffee with homemade shortbread lovely fluffy towels bathrobes and a great selection of toiletries. Couldn’t fault the room at all but apparently someone had put a banner above the bed and spoiled the wallpaper so we were given a glass of champagne each as compensation.
We wandered downstairs where a harpist was playing….what talented lady. We just had to sit and listen.
A walk round the gardens so lovely to see all the different flowers trees and shrubs and then a wander into the kitchen garden :
Dinner - the staff and the food exquisite all dishes were explained to us and superbly presented a real taste of great food.
We had a very comfortable sleep in a very comfortable bed with good quality bedding.
Breakfast was not a disappointment again all beautifully presented.
It really was the ultimate height of luxury.
The building & the setting are fab. Beautiful gardens & a warm friendly welcome. Service was excellent. Unfortunately it appears the kitchen is living off its past reputation & is no longer (in my opinion) fine dining standard. Very disappointed with the quality of the food. The starters were not up to scratch , main courses & desserts OK. Excellent wine but rose by the glass crazily over priced. £23.50 for a 175ml glass of English rose is difficult to justify.
We stayed in the Haddon room, which is beautiful with a lovely garden view, comfy bed and clean minimal bathroom. We had the tasting menu which was a great way to try lots of tasty dishes. Breakfast was really nice, the staff were all welcoming and ensured we had a comfortable stay. We definitely plan to return.
We have speed through Baslow many times and wondered what Fischers at Baslow Hall had to offer. So to tie in with a revisit to Chatsworth we opted for a 2 night Fine dining experience. The place met all
Recently took my family to Fishers for Sunday lunch the food and the ambience very nice !! What did disappoint me was the bill £900 for seven adults is too much the food was nice but didn’t warrant that amount plus £25 fora glass of champagne be careful when ordering pre drinks !!
Lovely stay. The staff was great! Everyone went out of their way to be kind and helpful, even helping when our plans to tour local sites got messed up by a very heavy winter storm that caused power outages. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was a bit pricey, but excellent quality and our servers could not have been better. Breakfast every morning was delicious and, again, our server was lovely. Would recommend this hotel if touring Derbyshire area.
We were booked in on a bed and breakfast basis for 3 nights from a Monday to a Wednesday night and we were aware that there would be no evening meal service for the first two nights. The hotel and grounds are lovely and the staff we came into contact with were very welcoming and pleasant. Unfortunately the bed in our room was extremely uncomfortable and hard. For a lightweight person the mattress had absolutely no ‘give’ in it at all. I had next to no sleep and was in a lot of pain by the morning, so much so that we decided to cut short our stay. Obviously in accordance with the terms and conditions we were liable for the total cost, which I duly and very sadly paid. However, as we seemed to be the only guests in residence at the time, our late decision to cancel had not prevented anyone else from booking and I do believe that we could have been met halfway with costs in the interests of good customer relations. We were offered another room but there was no guarantee that the bed would be any different. I know different people have different requirements but worth a thought if you are a lightweight and prefer a medium sprung bed! The breakfast was nicely cooked and presented, but the choice was limited compared to other similar standard hotels and there did not appear to be any pastries/croissants on offer. So overall, for us, a waste of rather a lot of money!
This was our first visit to Fischer's Baslow Hall and we are already planning a return visit in 2025.
We experienced warm, friendly and efficient service from the moment of our arrival and throughout our stay. The attention to detail was impressive.
The superb 6 course gourmet dinner accompanied by excellent wines was an amazing highlight of our stay.
We were very comfortably accommodated in a Garden Room. Loved the superking-size bed.
Lovely building in a nice area
Terrific Hotel/Restaurant in The Peaks near Bakewell. Luxury rooms set in lovely gardens with a Michelin Plate restaurant attached (that has a separate Tripadvisor page).
Stylish rooms with outstanding service. Friendly staff with great advice on what to visit in the area. Chatsworth House and Hadden Hall very close by.
