This hotel is set right in front of the mountains in Palm Springs and is very private but walking distance to everything needed. We arrived late at night and was greeted by Lyn at the front desk who warmly welcomed us and went above and beyond to make sure we got to our room quick and easy. She was incredibly helpful over the few days we were there. The hotel is lucky to have someone like her!
The breakfast and lunch chichi’s was good and make sure to go next door to Melvyn’s. It’s a steakhouse with lots of history and the bartender Sue was a pleasure to talk with. The pools and spa are very relaxing and well maintained. Rooms are a bit dated but clean and comfortable. We are looking forward to staying again. Thank you!

I had a fantastic experience. Not customer service very nice rooms and great facilities. I will absolutely be staying there the next time I am in Palm Springs.

Everyone did such a GREAT job! Our stay was exactly what we expected. We are completely happy with the way everyone treated us and the stay in general. A+ all the way. WE LOVE THIS PROPERTY! The Avalon has been my go-to hotel in Palm Springs for over 20 years. The rooms are comfortable, the pool is heaven, and the location is hard to beat. But the real reason I keep coming back is the staff, who always go the extra mile to make guests feel welcome and comfortable. There are plenty of great places to stay in Palm Springs, yet I keep going back to The Avalon year after year. That says a lot.

We had an amazing weekend friends getaway here! With breathtaking mountain views, the bungalows were warm and inviting with a modern comfort. The property was exceptionally clean, peaceful, and well maintained, creating a truly relaxing peaceful atmosphere. The front desks hosts were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. I misplaced my ring and they were so kind and understanding and went above and beyond to help me with my situation and assured me they would do everything to assist me , the front desk approached my predicament with professionalism and instantly calmed my panic! Give ‘em all a raise! I will be back.

We’ve been loyal guests at the Avalon (formerly Viceroy) for over 20 years, and this most recent trip truly stood out. The property still has that special magic and relaxing vibe that Brad and his wife originally brought to it at the beginning — and it’s only getting better.
Elsa, our housekeeper, is simply amazing! She’s friendly, funny, thorough, and incredibly attentive to every need. Every time we check in, she’s been our housekeeper, and she always greets us with her warm smile and wonderful laughter that immediately brightens our stay. Our room is always impeccably clean thanks to her care and kindness.
At the front desk, Juan from operations management is always friendly, helpful, and readily available to assist with anything we need. Jasmine and Brian have been at the hotel for many years and continue to greet every guest with genuine smiles and cheer — they’re true pillars of the property.
We’ve also noticed wonderful changes under the new GM, Robert. The team he has assembled is outstanding, and the small but impactful upgrades really make a difference: beautiful new plants in pots near the room entrances and around the property, plus refreshed pool furniture. These touches enhance the already relaxing atmosphere.
Robert is one of a kind — his influence and management style are hands-down amazing, and it shows throughout the entire staff and property. I’d happily “steal” him for my own company if I could! I truly hope he sticks around for a long time because he’s a huge asset.
To the entire team: keep doing exactly what you’re doing — investing in your people and the property. It works beautifully and keeps the Avalon feeling special after all these years. We can’t wait to return! Highly recommend.

We had a fantastic stay at Avalon Palm Springs. What really made the experience stand out was the hospitality from the team. Grace and Lynn at the front desk were incredibly welcoming, helpful, and genuinely made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Brian at Chi Chi was equally outstanding. Attentive and a pleasure to interact with throughout our stay.

The property itself is beautiful, with charming grounds, well-appointed accommodations, and a relaxing atmosphere. Combined with the exceptional service, it made for a memorable visit. We look forward to returning very soon!!

This property is absolutely amazing! Old school, Palm Springs, charm, high-end amenities, beautiful rooms, great pools, and walking distance to everything downtown. James, works at the front desk there, provided the most welcoming check-in experience I’ve ever had at a hotel. Very knowledgeable about the local area and explained all the amenities the hotel had to offer. I would definitely recommend this to anybody going to the Palm Springs area!

My wife, Janice, and I celebrated our anniversary here, and it was the best choice we could have made. Everyone was wonderful. The young man, Niko, who initially greeted us and helped with our luggage, parking, etc., was great; his father, I learned, was once in the Marine Corps, as I also was, so we had a nice chat, and from that point on everything was perfect, top of the mark. Avalon is historical, the grounds are immaculate, the accommodations comfortable, and the location close to the downtown area, etc. I can't think of a thing that could have been done better. Janice absolutely loves this place; and our little pug, Molly, can testify to the dog--friendly accommodations. We are already planning our next stay here, at Christmas.

"Lynn who we met in the evening went out of her way to make us feel welcome and special. Our receptionist when we checked in was very helpful, unfortunately did not ask her name. But everyone was friendly and welcoming. Brian was our server at the pool and handled our requests quickly and accurately. He introduced himself and continued to check with us at the pool during our stay. We so appreciated the welcome anniversary treats from the Avalon team. It made it very special. We have spent our anniversary at the Avalon, and before that, the Viceroy. It always feels like coming home to a familiar vacation spot. Thank you for your kindness."

Wonderful experience. Staff was over the top. Clean and well maintained property. Lots of hiking near by for my fur babies. We all had a blast. I hope to visit Palm Springs and the Avalon again some day.

Five stars for the Avalon Hotel Palm Springs. This is Palm Springs done correctly: relaxed, stylish, understated and genuinely service-driven without trying too hard. The property is located just steps from downtown, yet somehow still feels tucked away and peaceful.
As a solo traveler, I especially appreciated how comfortable and welcoming the hotel felt. With three separate pools spread throughout the property, it never feels crowded or chaotic. Even on a busy weekend, there’s a calm boutique atmosphere that feels more private residence than hotel. The bungalows create a true “home away from home” feeling — casual luxury with warmth and personality instead of the typical sterile resort experience.
The staff deserves special recognition. James at the front desk made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. Jon at the bar was polished, personable and exactly the kind of bartender you hope to find at a Palm Springs hotel. Brian at the pool provided attentive service without hovering, and Eloy in the restaurant was warm, professional and consistently excellent.
Value: Excellent for the level of service, location and overall experience.
Cleanliness: Impeccable throughout the property.
Noise Level: Surprisingly quiet and relaxing despite being so close to downtown.
Service: Truly five-star across every department.
Amenities: Thoughtful touches throughout, including Aesop bath products, which elevated the experience immediately.
The Avalon understands something many luxury hotels have forgotten: true luxury is feeling comfortable, welcomed and completely at ease. This place gets it right.

The morning staff at Chi Chis -- Norbie, Elroy, Jeyson -- Bryan at the pool and John at the evening bar are long time employees and we always look forward to seeing them on our visits. They are lovely!!"

My wife and I have just returned from Palm Springs where we celebrated her birthday. We enjoyed 5 wonderful nights at The Avalon in Bungalow 103, which is located literally feet from one of the well maintained and well needed pools to cool off in the heat of the day. There were several staff who I want to mention as they consistently provided excellent service with a smile. Brian, who was always smiling and knowledgable, provided food/beverage service at the pool, Lynne at the front desk was very friendly and provided some good restaurant recommendations , the guy (sorry, I forgot his name) in the Chi Chi bar in the morning really knows birds and we were so lucky to have him there as he provided daily updates on the baby hummingbirds that were camped in their nest at the other pool. And finally, Candice G., the Guest Experience Manager, made our stay very memorable. Thank you all.

Lynne was great and went above and beyond to accommodate us on our babymoon. We had a relaxing and enjoyable time, just as we had hoped! Several of the breakfast servers at Chi Chi were also wonderful, unfortunately did not catch their names. The açaí bowl was a huge hit - my wife ordered it each morning!
