The staff the clerk at the front desk was so nice gave us information on sites worth seeing
Wish they had some steps leading to the beach and maybe take more time to clean up the grounds
The room were very clean. Comfy bed and pillows.
Even though I faced the lake, the goose poop and smell was terrible.
We loved the breakfast and its closness to our room since my Mom is not very mobile. We loved the view from our room and took advantage of the outdoor seating and Lake Huron. We were pleasantly surprised that there was a free shuttle to the ferry to Machinac Island. This was a bonus for us!!
There was a lot of goose poop on the grass and beach outside of our room. It was not a pleasant smell and we had to navigate the piles.
Directly on the lake, large rooms with good air conditioning and comfortable beds.
A tremendous amount of goose poop on the lawn between the hotel and the lake, better sound proofing would be great, but it was overall ok.
Nice, helpful staff. Free shuttle to dock.
Needs updating desperately. Breakfast was so-so. Pillows were uncomfortable
The location of this property is pretty much the only positive! With that being said, don’t expect to enjoy the waterfront as it is filled with feces.
We were extremely disappointed with our stay at the AmericInn in St. Ignace. The waterfront location was one of the reasons we chose this property, but unfortunately the condition of the hotel and grounds made it very difficult to enjoy.
The biggest concern was finding bugs in our bed. Regardless of what type of bugs they were, finding bugs in the bedding of a hotel room is completely unacceptable and made us extremely uncomfortable sleeping there.
What made the situation even more frustrating was the lack of response from the hotel. We texted the hotel number regarding the bugs we found in our bed and were completely ignored. At the very least, we expected someone to acknowledge our concern and address the issue. Receiving no response at all made an already unpleasant situation even worse.
The property itself also needs significant attention. There was peeling paint and noticeable deferred maintenance, which made the hotel feel much more run-down than we expected based on the location.
Even the waterfront area, which should be one of this hotel’s biggest selling points, was disappointing. The yard was covered with so much seagull feces that we couldn’t comfortably use or enjoy the waterfront grounds. Having a beautiful waterfront location doesn’t mean much when the outdoor space isn’t maintained well enough for guests to actually enjoy it.
Between the bugs in our bed, being ignored when we contacted the hotel about them, peeling paint, and the condition of the waterfront grounds, this stay fell far below our expectations. We would not stay here again and would have chosen another property in St. Ignace had we known what the actual condition would be.
Your location close to everything.
Did not have a elevator. elevator would have been nice.
Location
After we checked in someone went through and was patching and spot painting the doors in hallway. They globbed a bunch of paint on our door without telling us. My daughter got it all over her shirt.
Breakfast wasn’t good. The food was horrible and the room could not accommodate the traffic.
The staff was nice for most part but one of the women didn’t seem very knowledgeable. She was not good with talking to people.
The pool was dirty.
Location is great if you are visiting mackinac island. Walking to shops and restaurants are possible but quite a distance. Breakfast is basic muffins and bagels, no protein choices. It’s been recently purchased by AmericInn. Rooms were decently cleaned. Every room has a great view of the lake. The hot tub/pool area is great.
The beds are hard as a rock. If they offer room 243 please request another room. The owner suite is above it and they are loud!! It sounded like a herd of elephants above us. Lots of tumbling, running, etc. the first night the noise didn’t end until around 3 am and began again at 6 am. The second night, after we complained, the noise did calm around 1030pm but started again around 6:30-7 am. If rest is your goal, this isn’t the place for you.
Rooms are big and clean. Location is excellent, view is spectacular, all rooms are facing the water. We stay here multiple times and love it.
The hallway smelled weird.
The view thats about it
All hotels is mackinaw and st ignace aren't very clean, very outdated and you can tell no $$ gets put back into them. Shame that UP NORTH turned into this.
Rooms smelled like musty stale smoke and were outdated. I feel it was overpriced for what we got. Will most likely not come back.
The view of Lake Huron
The location
The room had a foul smell, the room was very dark, the elevator was old and needed paint, the pool was not lit well at all. The breakfast was very plain. Definitely not worth the money I paid to stay there!
