All That Glitters Ain’t Gold — Accountability Matters
Our stay at The Westin San Diego Bayview revealed a serious gap between appearance and accountability.
We used the valet parking service offered by the hotel. While our vehicle was under valet care, it was damaged. When this was reported, the immediate response from staff was to distance the hotel from responsibility, stating that the valet is a third-party company.
That response is the issue.
As guests, we did not choose or contract the valet company. We trusted the hotel to provide a safe, coordinated service. When something goes wrong, true service is measured by ownership, not deflection.
Since the incident:
The burden has been placed on us to chase for answers
This review is not written out of anger — it is written to call for leadership and resolution.

Until this is resolved, I cannot recommend valet parking at this property.
Luxury is not the lobby.
Luxury is responsibility when things go wrong.
This is a challenging review. First, the location for the Westin SD Bayview was excellent. Central to everything in downtown SD and easy to get to everything. Secondly, the staff and personnel were great. Both friendly and helpful. Third, the hotel was clean and has great amenities offered. Fourth, the lounge/bar had excellent offerings and Mikayla was our server each evening and she was outstanding! She never stopped working or hustling…sometimes the lounge was hopping and other moments it would slow down…my Mikayla never slowed down! Give her a raise!! Finally, the reason for the poor rating was simply the water pipes banging and rattling so loudly at night (1:30am and 3:15am) on two different nights that it woke us from a dead sleep. The hotel was so great but if a guest cannot get a good night’s sleep, all else goes out the window. Westin San Diego Bayview….please repair these rattling pipes!!
Convenient location, walkable to the waterfront, Little Italy, and many restaurants. Check in was easy, room was comfortable (great views if you’re on the high floors), and housekeeping was great too. The valet service was exceptional especially from Kai, Jordan, and Hector. They went above and beyond and were so accommodating. We appreciate the amazing service from them!
David was an incredibly funny, kind, and attentive bartender! We had a ton of fun with him.
David at the lobby bar was fun and helpful during my stay. The front desk team was hospitable and knowledgeable.
David was the best bartender I could’ve asked for it. He gave me a good experience good recommendations and a good vibe all around keep him forever or your company is gonna go out of business. Love y’all.
The staff are super helpful and friendly, and the hotel is very clean. The food provided for my business trip tasted good and actually included fruits and vegetables.
My only gripes are as follows. First, the Wi-Fi is utterly terrible. The connection periodically drops, and, especially in certain areas of the hotel (like some of the conference rooms), there are only one or two bars. Second, the fitness room is quite hot.
On the bright side regarding the Wi-Fi, when I submitted a customer satisfaction survey, staff promptly troubleshot the issue and checked back in with me to ensure it was fixed (it was, for the most part).

I had the best time at the Westin Bayview in San Diego. It as a last minute decision to go there and I am happy that I did. The rooms are spotless and cozy, staff is friendly, and I had a great time in an otherwise very laid back place. Will return, highly recommend.
My family and I were staying at a nearby Marriott Vacation Club located close to the Westin Bayview, and we were traveling with a truck that the valet at our property was unable to accommodate. We were also uncomfortable leaving our vehicle there after learning that two cars had been broken into earlier that same day.
Hoping to find a safer option, I walked over to the Westin Bayview and spoke with the valet manager, Krystal. From the moment I explained our situation, she was incredibly kind, understanding, and quick to help. Even though we were not staying at the Westin, she immediately found a solution and allowed us to valet our vehicle there, which gave us so much peace of mind.
She made us feel confident that our car would be safe and well taken care of. The valet process was seamless, as they provided a phone number to call ahead, and by the time we arrived, our car was already waiting for us. We did attempt to switch our hotel reservation to the Westin but were unfortunately unable to do so this time.
However, on our next visit we will absolutely be staying here and looking forward to seeing Krystal and her team again. Thank you, Krystal, for turning what could have been a stressful situation into a smooth and worry-free part of our trip.
Wow wow wow. Staying at this hotel was an exceptional choice. The location is amazing, centered and close to everything. We were able to get ride share from the airport and WALK everywhere.
The staff was great but one stand out was the Bartender at the lobby bar DAVID A I think his last name was Aldrid. He was a peach. Made me feel so welcomed, told me about the best places to grab a bite and see the town. If I came back to this hotel it would be 1. For the location and 2. For drinks every morning with David.
Monette was very helpful and made sure we got everything we needed. She was professional, patient, and easy to work with. Great experience overall.
Great experience at the Westin. Staff was amazing and the hotel felt safe and comfortable. Mikayla at the bar/restaurant was especially wonderful and made multiple family dining experiences so nice for us. She provided excellent customer service and was so kind to our family. Will definitely be back!

The location was great. But the rooms was not as advertised. We got to the room and it was so hot in there, the lines had stains on the sheets, the telephone did not work (cord did not fit into the phone jack), the bathroom had mold on the bathroom ceiling, moldy mat to place in the bottom of the shower, around the tub/shower area, the air conditioning was not working properly, room was moist and hot, took too long to get help and the food was atrocious and bland. Was offered no credit for the room, not offered a credit say for the inconvenience. Spoke to Sari and haven't heard anything else from her and this was New Years Eve to January 2, 2026. I was very disappointed. Rooms definitely needs an upgrade.
We went as a family, we went down to have breakfast at the restaurant with a difference of 15 minutes between some relatives and others so some had already finished and left the Buffett, however, when we met the rest of the family we decided to re-enter the restaurant and the manager decided to charge us again for the buffet for the simple fact of having returned to take a seat and by refusing to pay again to sit down to accompany to our relatives for breakfast he decided to call security and take us out of the restaurant with everything and the babies and with our children. The worst experience we have had in all the years we have been traveling to this hotel chain
Came for the Holiday Bowl! Staff was extremely helpful finding places to go and the property exceeded my expectations.
