My friend and I arrived Friday night for Christian ladies retreat at the ConwayChurch of Christ. The receptionist at the desk was so very helpful and noticed that I was elderly and said would you like a first floor room? we had originally booked you on the second floor, and I said oh yes, thank you! The room was spacious with two queen size beds, extremely comfortable pillows and a lightweight down comforter that kept me quite comfortable. I was happy I could turn the air conditioning on as well as a fan so I could just have the right temperature. In the morning I explored the restaurant as well as the pool and other areas. everything still pretty much looks like winter, I could see how beautiful it would be in the summer and the fall or when the snow is on the ground. I found a a nice table and chair to do my journaling and Bible reading overlooking the mountains. The coffee was amazing and the breakfast was delicious. We booked our stay tune out stay with Priceline and we got an extremely amazing rate, but I would be willing if I came in summer or fall and pay the full amount because I enjoyed it so much.
I’ve been here many times, sometimes with the kids and family, sometimes alone. This place is great for the cost. $50 for a night is unbeatable. Sure, they could do a little work, like the bathrooms have old/half broken shower heads and faucets, but the rooms and bathroom are clean, the employees are extremely kind and it’s in a great location. They could also start doing some landscaping again, it used to be gorgeous with flowers and manicured lawns, but the last few years have gone downhill. Also, a little work on the mini golf course would go a long way, but hey, that’s free and entertains the kids! Overall this is a great, budget friendly hotel with a great free breakfast and a helpful staff.
I was afraid to go into the hotel when I pulled up. The outside can use some freshing up, and was surprised when I went into the hotel. The rooms and hallways were very clean. The front dest was very accommondating and the breakfast was enjoyable. Only wish the parking lot was closer.
Great stay! Beautiful scenery, awesome room with a jacuzzi tub that was complimentary. I would highly recommend!
It was great! Kids loved the pool (the pool room could use some ventilation). Breakfast was great!
The entire place is run down and so dirty, guests running around barefoot, showing up for breakfast in PJ’s and shoe less, and this is the adults, pool had a black line of filth around it, hot tub broken, shower is so hard to turn on, receptionist said “yeah, not sure why the company did that, you need to have the knack for sure” great! Bed was uncomfortable, pillow rock hard, and a heavy musk smell, slept 3 hours, there’s so many choices in this area, please don’t let this be your opinion, you get what you pay for, couldn’t wait to get out of dodge and return home to scrub myself down, I actually considered using bleach, yes it’s that bad.
Fix the hot tub, or fill in the hole and buy a new one. Outside the lobby at the bottom of the stairs, outdoors is better
Need a hot tub with real jets
Great location to stay with your family and friends
The location was great, the room itself was perfectly fine, and everything was very clean. The rates were reasonable for what you get, so overall the stay wasn’t bad from a value standpoint.
Breakfast, however, was odd. It felt like they stocked the buffet at the beginning of the week and whatever ran out just stayed out. The first morning was solid, but the next two days seemed like they were just serving whatever was left. There were no refills on things like chocolate milk, juice, or sausage patties. If something was gone, it was gone.
I was also disappointed that the hot tub was closed and appeared to have been that way for a while. Staff said it was listed on the website, and after checking, I did find a small note at the very bottom of the hot tub description that said “Temporarily closed for maintenance.” It was easy to miss. Most of the other guests I spoke with hadn’t noticed it either. It would have been better if that information had been more clearly disclosed upfront. I was really looking forward to using it, and a pool and hot tub were on my "must-have list" when I was looking at hotels.
Value was great, location, service..nothing fancy..but it was comfortable with great views at breakfast area!!
Love the front and back entrance to each room. Breakfast was great. Clean rooms..
An ok place to lay your head for a couple nights. Rooms are dated but comfortable and clean. We were on the 2nd floor and it was quiet even though it was a sold out weekend. Free breakfast was as you’d expect but the coffee was surprisingly good. Central location in the heart of town makes traveling to attractions easy. Book early for the cheapest rates.
It was an ok experience. The rooms were pretty dirty and the sink faucet fell off in my hands the first time I used it. It was fixed quickly.
The pros were the indoor pool, the free breakfast and free parking. It was also close to the main drag but you had to drive. A complimentary shuttle would be amazing but I know it won’t happen. The game room was sub par. Half the games didn’t work so I don’t even bother to bring my kids there.
I’m not sure I would come back. I’d have to see if there were any improvements first.
Overall it was an enjoyable stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Our disappointment was the lack of a promised hot breakfast (both in promotional materials and on the website) during our stay. During our last stay the breakfast featured eggs, home fries, chocolate muffins, and more. This time it was cereal or toast…very disappointing.
Everything was great! The view was beautiful, I would love to come back and bring our children.
My wife surprised me with a weekend getaway in New Hampshire and booked accommodations at the Foxridge Resort, located at 1979 White Mountain Highway, North Conway, NH.
She selected this property based on the pictures presented on the reservation website. However, upon arrival, we were met with an extremely disappointing and unacceptable experience. The GPS directed us correctly, but the road leading to the property looked abandoned, with no lights and in very poor condition. When we arrived, the exterior appeared run-down, raising immediate concerns.
At check-in, my wife was given a room key, but upon entering, we were shocked by the condition of the room. It was the most dilapidated accommodation we had ever encountered. The room carried a strong, unpleasant odor masked by heavy deodorizer, and it was clear that it was not suitable for staying overnight. We immediately returned the key and left the premises.
We were blown away by the "continental breakfast" offered in the morning. In most hotels, that would involve a granola bar and maybe coffee. In the Fox Ridge Resort, it was a full on buffet breakfast with numerous, delicious choices. There were eggs, hashbrowns, sausage links or patties, and many juice options. It was a very pleasant surprise.
The parking left a lot to be desired; there was plenty of it, but a bit of a walk back to the resort. It's on the same property but away from the buildings. We arrived after dark and although the parking lot itself was lit up, the walk back to our room was WITHOUT LIGHT WHATSOEVER. There should be an investment in path lighting at the very least.
Room controls were great and it seemed to be a pet friendly place. I do not have a pet.
needs a major re-do
We checked the property way before our check in time and we are glad we did. Because when we finally arrived at 7pm we couldn’t see a thing outside. The are NO lights. Yes, there are some poles with bulbs here and there but they barely function. Had to use our phones flashlights to find the way from the parking into the building. Later looked outside from our balcony- complete darkness. Can’t believe they call it a resort.
