We stayed here for 3 nights in a Deluxe superior king with view and boy did it have a view!! Our bed was huge and very comfortable. I had emailed ahead and asked to have a quiet room to which they provided as we were nowhere near any of the lifts and we heard hardly any noise apart from the sirens outside.
The room was clean and very spacious. The only gripe we had was the bathroom light came on automatically when someone walked into it, which was annoying at 2 am when someone got up to go to the toilet.
The breakfast like many people have commented was one of the best we’ve ever had selection wise. We visited at approximately 8am and had no issue having a table or going to the areas that we wanted to get food from.
The only time we had issues waiting for a lift were at these peak times, but other than that we found the lift system very easy and only waited a couple of minutes .
We went to the rooftop bar every day and we greeted immediately and shown to a table straight away . Each time we visited, we were placed in a different part of the bar which actually was quite nice as it gave us a different view each time. The couple of times we visited in the day we were not asked to pay the bill straight away but at night time you could see this ramped up but this was not a problem to us and in no way were we rushed or made to feel like the table was required. The service I felt was spot-on.. the drinks prices I thought were very reasonable especially if we were to visit the same kind of bar in London we would be looking at at least 50% more plus service charge!! we quite enjoyed watching people pose in the most ridiculous fashion for their photos but then this was also frustrating when all I wanted was a quick basic photo on the bridge.
We ordered a pizza from the roof top bar, which was one of the most cheesiest pizzas I’ve ever had in my life but delicious.
I’ve included some photos which hopefully people will find helpful.
We stayed in Madrid last may in an Airbnb. But this time returned to the Riu which we did not regret and would 100% stay here again. The weekend we stayed was in fact Spanish bank holiday weekend which we were not aware of which made the area and all the popular parts extremely busy so the rooftop bar was a perfect escape.
I had an excellent stay at this hotel. The service was outstanding, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the staff was friendly and professional. Everything exceeded my expectations, and I would definitely love to come back.
We just loved this hotel. We paid a bit extra and got a room with a terrace which made it even nicer. The room is very big and the bathroom is very, very big. Two sinks if you like that sort of thing. The shower is really nice and all the products are great.
Cleanliness is superb and fresh bottled water brought in every day to drink.
The location is great too. Metro is a stones throw from the entrance. Even a Zara next door. The gym is nice too.
The Sky Bar is great for a drink with lovely views and free for guests. As others have to pay, you can always get a table.
Downsides? Its a big hotel so there are a lot of people at breakfast. The buffet food is very good and you never have to queue for long. Did find can be a queue for lifts around 11am as some people trying to leave at same time as other people coming back to rooms after breakfast.
But these are quibbles. The service is absolutely first class. We didn't have our room cleaned one day, our choice, and we rang for water, coffee and a blanket and there in minutes. All the staff are so friendly and helpful.
From the airport really easy by metro. One simple change.
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at a very comfortable, warm hotel with friendly and efficient staff. A minor complaint would be that self service food area was a little chilly resulting in hot food, like sausages being only lukewarm.
Worst customer service. Won’t help you and you will play broken telephone with these people. They don’t know what’s going on. Both the receptionists and the restaurant receptionists will play you like a ping pong
The place is in the center of Madrid with access to everywhere you need to go. Metro station is next door. The place and staff are amazing. They are very professional and polite. The place is superb and it deserve more
I had a very good experience. The bed and the room were comfortable, and the staff were very friendly. One issue at breakfast was that there were no meat options other than pork. There were no alternative meat choices available
location is very good, breakfast excellent, but I did a wrong reservation from double to twin, and I ask hotel if it is possible to double, they answer after i cant cancel anymore the reservation, i ask for an upgrade to double they never answer. The view at the rooftop was perfect, but when i wanted to change the table, the waiter HUAN CARLOS, dont let me to change even I was order more dhe 70 euro to drink there and I wanted to stay more because I was waiting my birthday, but no, Huan Carlos dont want it, than the table was for 2 persons that come outside of the hotel so I go to my room and wait there for my birthday, i was very dissapointed from this hotel, because if you want something or you need anything they never do nothing for you.
Myself and friends only stayed here 1 night for our annual Xmas trip but so wish we stayed for longer. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The lift system was as brilliant. Our room was a great size and looked out on to one of the Christmas markets in Madrid. The rooftop bar was one of the best I’ve ever been too. Lastly the breakfast. It had everything. What a spread.
I will definitely be back 😀
We stayed at this hotel in Madrid the first week of December and it was fantastic! We had the junior suite which had incredible views of the plaza and it was all decorated for Christmas. The service was impeccable! Well definitely stay here again
I will definitely book again on the next trip to Madrid. Beautiful location and you have great staff. Friendly and very helpful. The food was very good.
Excellent location, walking distance to Madrid's areas of interest. Metro station only steps away from Hotel's entrance.
Breakfast "the best", excellent hotel's employee staff. Will stay again...Hala Madrid!!!
This is my second stay at this property. I love the location: next to metro, buses and many attractions are whiting walking distance or a quick bus hop. Plaza España is located at the bottom of the Gran Via were many theaters, stores and restaurants are plenty. This hotel is have a really great breakfast and service is upscale compared to other venues.
Absolutely beautiful hotel in a prime position in Madrid. Spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated for Christmas. Buffet breakfast very good. There were a couple of things that were disappointing hence not 5/5. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room it no milk, only powdered creamer. I asked at reception on our way in one night if they had any milk for the room and was told I’d have to buy some (I did take some in a small cup from breakfast the following morning and put in the fridge in the room). Also had gone back to the room on Saturday afternoon with a blinding headache, they had an event on and the music was banging in our room. Our third call to reception resulted in someone coming up, apologising and promising he’d arranged to turn the bass down and that it’d be over in 30 mins! In my opinion if they do hold events they should ensure it isn’t disturbing guests! When I say it was loud it really was!
The location is very good for tourists. You can visit most of the spots on foot, Room size is good and clean.
Great location. Great support and services from staff in all respects, starting from check in, room tidying up, refilling of necessities, welcoming gesture everytime arriving hotel, quality of food and staff services in breakfast buffet , etc
This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. We couldn't fault anything.
Easy check-in experience. Two dedicated secure rooms to leave your bags in if you're early arriving or late leaving. Friendly, efficient and attentive staff.
Beautiful room with huge comfy bed separate lounge area, safe and fridge, his and hers basins & walk in rainfall showers in bathroom. Fabulous views of city from window. Room was very clean and cleaned on a daily basis.
Breakfast was superb. A massive selection of hot and cold items including bacon, sausages, scrambled/fried eggs omelettes made on demand, ham & cheese toasties, cold meats, salad items, smoked salmon, cheeses, cereals, pastries, breads, good selection of coffees, lovely smoothies and juices and also sparkling wine! No issues with waiting times for tables even at the busiest time.
The rooftop SkyBar on the 27th floor is a must-do! Fabulous 360° views of the city and there is also a glass floor section to walk across if you're brave enough!
Easily the best hotel in Madrid and we'll worth the money we paid. We will definitely be coming back!
Ideal location , neat rooms but dull dark and dreary corridors which hotels architects and interior designers should look into .
Actually i would give it 3 and a half stars. Everything is good ... central location neat rooms . Dull dreary and blue rooms.they need to upgrade the hair dryers in washrooms.
We stayed at the RIU for the commanders/dolphins nfl game so the hotel was at capacity but that did not effect excellent service. Every employee we came in contact with at this hotel was ready to assessed with anything you needed. We were on the eighth floor and The room was clean and large with a very comfortable king bed. It was a very nice perk to have bottle of water replenished everyday. I can’t say enough good things about the breakfast buffet. It was loaded with anything you could possibly want and free mimosas! There was never a wait and again staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooftop bar had amazing views and great drinks. Lobby bar was nice gathering spot for all the fans. You can’t beat the location. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Madrid. Thank you RIU for the excellent service
