Room was great, location middle of downtown which was perfect for what we wanted to do that weekend
Bed was a little hard for our comfort, but everyone is different
They charged me an additional $75.00 over the advertised price. I did not incur any additional expenses
Heard about the Menger for years becasue of its ghostly and historical reputations so I took the opprtunity to experience it on a recent trip to San Antonio. First of all the location is unreal. Adjacent to the Alamo and across the street from the River Walk . I could not imagine a better location to experience SA for the first time. My room was clean and comfortable and the common areas of the hotel itself are magnificent. It is truly Texas' version of the Stanley Kubrick's Overlook. The most impressive thing was the value. I've paid more for the national chain business motels. I cannot wait to go back.
There is contruction around The Alamo (but no construction noise in my room) and it is not the simplest to get to the valet for the first time... but you'll get the hang of it.
The ghost never showed up
The location was wonderful. We loved the history and architecture of the hotel. When my elderly aunt became too tired to walk the city they provided a wheelchair for us to borrow.
Like we had breakfast at the hotel and we’re disappointed the servings were cold and the hashbrowns tasteless
Soggiorno perfetto!
Gorgeous historic hotel at a reasonable price and near river walk.
Parking was a bit pricey.

Historic, interesting, great location
Very difficult to get to it, construction has roads closed everywhere. Had to park and pay in a lot away from the props and hike in.
The location
The room was to way small
Foyer and historical aspects are good, rich history
Rooms are run down, as is the bathroom. No mini bar, they left 2 water bottles on top of the fridge which I assumed was complimentary as there was no signage for price. Nope, my credit card was charged an exorbitant amount

We came back this year for the New Years Eve party. Last year was sooo much fun. This year was the greatest disappointment ever. I wish we could get our money back. It was way past the band’s bedtime. They were not able to read the extremely small crowd. The party was quite dead. But since the hotel waited till the very last minute to try to put a party together, in a dark corner, way in the back, hidden, there is no way you could have been able to secure even a half way descent band. A very sad expensive disappointment. Can we get our money back for that?
