Amazing staff
Hotel near airport, we arrived no one was at record and no one helped with our luggage
Was easy to get to with a lot of restaurants around it for meals. Staff were pleasant and room was clean.
Very old room. Ironing board was broken, coffee machine was broken and the body wash kept falling off the wall. Mattress was very old with springs poking through the upper pillow top. Pull out couch was listed as a feature, so obviously people would expect that there were sheets available to use on it. There was only one flat sheet...that mattress was awful. Just a very old and tired room. For the cost of staying there, next time I would look elsewhere.
Chose the Sandman hotel brand after a previous excellent experience nearly 20 years ago in Regina, SK. First time at Ottawa location, which a staff member told me had been open for about five years and is currently the only location in Ottawa.
- Great location on West Hunt Club near Merivale: surrounded by walkable restaurants and shops in surrounding plazas and Costco with gas bar very close by.
- Sufficient outdoor free parking, even when busy.
- Very comfortable bed! Regretted the next Ottawa hotel I stayed at for its much less comfortable bed but needed to change locations for personal reasons.
- Kitchenette with sink, medium bar fridge and microwave in room. Basic dishes and cleaning supplies provided.
- Very tall ceilings and room designed with separate bedroom far back from hallway beyond living area and kitchen so it was extremely quiet. No overhead noise from other guests. Slept very well without hearing airplanes overhead.
- Elevators were under frequent repair with only one or none available at various times in my short two-night stay. This was apparently due to a flooding situation a couple of weeks earlier (perhaps related to extreme weather?) so may not have been the fault of the hotel per se but definitely inconvenient for all visitors and staff.
Staff is very friendly, and the service and food in the restaurant is very good.
Your pull-out couch is Very Uncomfortable. It was like sleeping on a bunch of steel bars.
Location close to the airport was good though noisy
