Unfortunately not a lot.
Bathroom was clean, but the bed had several hairs and small bugs under the covers. The fridge was unclean and dusty. Staff were rude and unwelcoming. Didn’t sleep at all due to the sun-level brightness of the parking lot light directly outside our window, and staff (and possibly other patrons) loudly talking in the corridors in the early hours of the morning (seen from our door peephole as I couldn’t believe the noise). From approx 2:20am to 2:50am there was someone shouting loudly in the corridor, which was very discomforting.
The room was very spacious. The breakfast was good and all the staff that we encountered were very nice.
The ice machine near our room was out of order. Our hand soap dispenser didn't work.

The first room we were moved to was filled with ants they moved us to another room and it was not clean whatsoever I had to go buy cleaning supplies just to make it clean enough for my baby to play around. This was supposed to be a fun little vacation for us and it just didn’t feel like a vacation with all the cleaning I had to do

Subject: Formal Complaint – Unsanitary Room, Misrepresented Amenities, and Missing Paid Upgrade
I am contacting you regarding our stay tonight at Red Roof Inn PLUS+ & Suites Knoxville West – Cedar Bluff booked through Expedia.
After an extremely difficult travel situation involving vehicle failure and towing expenses, we booked this property specifically to rest before continuing our drive home. Unfortunately, the condition of the hotel and the room provided was unacceptable and did not match what was advertised or what we paid for.
First, we paid for the Premium Room upgrade which specifically advertised upgraded bedding and snack amenities. Upon arrival, the snack items that are listed as part of the premium room package were not provided.
Second, the room itself was not properly cleaned. We immediately noticed:
• Bugs present inside the room
• Dirt and stains on surfaces
• Visible debris in lighting fixtures
• Marks and grime along walls and baseboards
• Overall unsanitary appearance
In addition, the entire hallway and surrounding rooms had an extremely strong marijuana odor. While I understand that this can sometimes occur in hotels, the smell was so heavy that it was immediately noticeable upon entering the floor and throughout the corridor.
One of the reasons we selected this property was the hot tub listed among the amenities. However, upon arrival we were informed that the hot tub closes at 9:00 PM, which was not clearly disclosed on the booking listing. After traveling all day, this was one of the main amenities we hoped to use.
When we did view the hot tub area it appeared extremely poorly maintained, with visible debris and an overall unclean condition.
At this point we are extremely frustrated and disappointed. Between the missing upgraded amenities, the unsanitary condition of the room, the strong odor throughout the floor, and the unavailable hot tub amenity, the experience does not reflect what was advertised or what we paid for.
I have taken photographs documenting the room condition and the issues mentioned above.
Given these circumstances, I am requesting that this stay be reviewed and that Expedia assist with an appropriate refund or compensation.
