Staying at the Proper for a couple of nights while in town. We know Austin well having lived here for about 7 years and has heard good things about the hotel. Had good meals at Peacock before so decided to check it out.
After a night here I think there are better options (Thompson, Fairmont, JW, W, etc).
The room is nicely decorated, but very small. No desk or chair which was inconvenient as I had to do some work. Marriott status didn’t help as I got a room which literally looks at a parking garage wall roughly 30 feet away.
The service so far has been fine, very responsive via text, but I found check in to be a bit cold in their welcome.
The main bar is packed and loud, which I get for Austin. The small bar just off the front desk is really nice and the servers in there were incredible.
Looked to go to the pool, and it’s pretty green and cloudy…so debating if that’s where to spend the day. I’m confident it will be a good vibe. The restaurant up there is currently closed though, so that limits some options.
Gym is awesome - huge and has a ton of equipment.
Overall - just think the room is subpar for the money. Think some of the other premier properties in town are better value and present more value if you have loyalty program status.

Such a vibe. From coffee and breakfast each morning to afternoons by the pool and workouts in the gym, every part of the experience felt effortless. Peacock was the highlight—the restaurant and bar exceeded even our high expectations. The food was exceptional, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the service tied it all together. We absolutely loved our stay.

Wow - all I can say is wow! I travel extensively for work and have stayed in numerous luxury hotels and Austin Proper beats every single one. They thought of everything to make my stay incredible! Amazing property, fantastic amenities, and a truly delightful team whose passion for the property is clear to every guest. The bed is comfortable, the rooms are clean, and the food and beverage service is top notch! I hope to make it back to Austin again soon so I can stay here again. Keep it up Austin Proper - you are doing it right!!

I was only there for an interview but the staff was amazing!! From Kendra and the boys at Valet to the hostess and management at La Piscina. Interior design, lay out and vibe were immaculate.

Amazing experience at the Austin Proper Hotel! The staff were extremely knowledgeable, helpful, polite and attentive to my every request. The gym was one of the best hotel gyms I have been to and the vibe/atmosphere was wonderful! It’s also close to so many things great things to do in Austin ….restaurants, live music, parks and hiking/running trails. I look forward to my next visit!

Room was nice, as was pool.

We had lunch at La piscina and Tony took great care of us, he was very professional and a great server. The atmosphere of the restaurant was amazing and the food was delicious. We valet our vehicle where Justin and Jabari took great care of us and our car. 10/10 experience

We had a fantastic stay at Austin Proper. The hotel is beautiful, the atmosphere is great, and everything just feels thoughtfully done. From the rooms to the restaurants, every part of the experience was excellent.

The highlight of our stay was the people, especially the General Manager, Anis. He genuinely cares about his guests and took the time to make sure everything was perfect for us. You don't often come across that level of attention from a GM, and it really made a difference.

You can tell his attitude carries through the entire team. Everyone we met was friendly, professional, and happy to help, which made the hotel feel warm rather than just luxurious.

We travel quite a bit and stay in a lot of great hotels, and Austin Proper is one we'll definitely return to. Thanks again to Anis and the whole team for making our stay so memorable. Highly recommended.

I travelled recently to the Proper Hotel here in Austin with 3 friends for the 4th of July. We are in our mid 20s and spent 7 nights at the Austin Proper hotel. Here are my thoughts after our stay:

If you love a vibrant, bustling hotel atmosphere, this is the place to be. The decor and ambiance are absolutely breathtaking, and both the bar and restaurants were always alive with energy. Plus, the location is unbeatable, right in the heart of downtown and within easy walking distance of incredible dining.

Our room was pristine, and the room service was top-notch. Shoutout to Jenny for giving our room a total makeover day after day.

Another standout was the concierge team; their text-messaging service alone made the stay worth every penny. Whether we needed an umbrella after a guest got sunburned, extra robes, a fruit bowl, or even a microwave and mini-fridge, they accommodated every single request instantly. Paired with the ultra-convenient valet service, this hotel truly felt like our second home. The staff's warmth and efficiency made our trip!

On the pricey side, especially as Canadians coming to the US, but in my opinion it was worth every penny.

End to end service is always elite from the moment I pull up. Incredible food from both La Piscina & The Peacock. Quill room is such a vibe + it’s an Ideal centralized location.

The whole building is always buzzing & bustling with interesting people.
