This is a historic hotel with lots of charm. The lobby area was not impressive, but the Grand staircase leading to the rooms is a photographers dream. The room was spacious, clean, the bath was modern with a nice shower.
Our room overlooked the town square. Nice big windows with high ceilings.
Definitely exceeded our expectations.
The dining room is small with slow service. It was understaffed, but the food was good and our server was pleasant. Their was a walk up breakfast counter with rolls and coffee. We chose to go to Charlie's Bakery a few blocks away. It was exceptional.
Did not know there was a breakfast
We did not like that our room did not have a window that looked outside. We have stated before and will stay again, but we will request a room with a window outside
I like the charm and general atmosphere of thr hotel imlikrvtjr fact f h at included z bar and restaurant on site
Location was good
When we asked for a pet-free room because we have allergies, the hotel clerk said the hotel was pet free and not to worry, but both my husband and I woke up with stuffy noses and itchy eyes - usually happens when we’ve been around animals. Other reviews mentions pets in the hotel.
Beautiful building. Friendly staff. Overall it was comfortable stay. Lovely gift shop. History on the walls made it very interesting to wander the halls.
No coffee in the rooms. Lamp was broken on the side of the bed. They used a few mini pillows for a king sized bed.
The unique historic hotel. Lots of history to read on walls. Easy walk to many restaurants.
Floors pretty noisy with squeaky wood.
We love the quaintness of this historical hotel. The staff was very friendly and both check in and check out. We like having actual keys rather than cards that cant be trusted to keep activated. We like having an elevator to the upper level rooms, yet enjoy walking down the staircase
We had a little trouble locating the button on the elevator, it would be helpful to have a label either above or below the button. We weren't the only guests having trouble, as we had to help another guest. We had a good laugh though!
Nice location, cool old rustic vibe, mostly original.
No housekeeping, despite a note from the "housekeeper" begging for money and listing their cash app waiting for me in my room upon arrival. Got a queen-sized mattress cover on a king-sized mattress, kept coming off and I couldn't get comfortable. Tiny pillows no normal-sized human head could possibly fit on, why even bother with pillows at that point? A/C was broken and the whole building was stiflingly hot, my room unbearably so being on the third floor. The restaurant's food was ok but the wait time was outrageous. Every single time I ordered I waited a solid half hour for my food, if not more, and I timed it. Ordered steak fajitas one night and got a plate of vegetables with a few crumbs of something vaguely resembling shredded beef and was charged $30 for it. They also offered to add sour cream, and after the food arrived I sat there for 10 minutes while my food got cold waiting for the sour cream before a waitress came over and asked "Did they tell you we couldn't find the sour cream?" The restaurant wasn't even busy, in fact I think there were only two other occupied tables, the staff is just that hopelessly incompetent. That said, the staff were mostly pretty pleasant and helpful and I don't blame them. The issues are all ownership/management.
I just like the historic ambiance of the place.
I wish the bar/restaurant was open. It wasnt open the last few times I stayed.
They have a cafe and we have we’re going to eat dinner there but they closed early. We were able to eat breakfast there in the morning.
No.
