Candlewood Suites Grand Rapids Airport by IHG

We booked our room 5–6 months in advance and ended up paying nearly $600 for three nights. It felt like the rates were significantly increased because there was a cheer competition in town. While I understand that prices can fluctuate based on demand, the amenities and service we received did not justify the cost.

Before our stay, we called customer service and were told that breakfast would be provided. Unfortunately, that was not true. We also arrived to find that the pool was completely drained and unavailable.

During our stay, we asked for a broom to clean up a spill and were told there wasn't one available. We also did not receive any housekeeping service during our three-night stay. When we asked about it, we were informed that the hotel is considered an extended-stay property, so housekeeping is only provided once a week. We were also told there is no breakfast service. If we needed fresh towels or sheets, we had to take the elevator from the 11th floor down to the lobby to exchange them ourselves.

Had we known this was an extended-stay hotel with limited amenities and services, we would have made a different decision. None of these limitations were made clear when we booked. As regular hotel guests paying premium rates, we expected standard hotel services, especially given the high price.

Overall, this stay was very disappointing, and I would not choose this hotel again.

I simply was not able to deal with the AC - I should have put on manual - because the automatic set was turning on and off with a lot of noise. I simply did not realize this.
It would be nice if the hotel could put a grab and go - something to eat. at 4:00 AM, there were no options.
Our room was on ground floor - and there is a LOT of noise of people coming and going throughtout the night. It is an extended type of hotel so be prepared to hear people talking loud, voices and doors shutting loudly even after midnight: not a good experience. I will probably skip this hotel on my future bookings.

The bed was super uncomfortable. The kitchen sink didn't work. The TV has bad quality.

I reserved a room with a roll in shower for my disabled spouse. When I arrived, I was told that the accessible room was given to someone else. Coffee maker malfunctioned.

The elevator is dangerously rickety... the hotel is falling apart... the room was full of cobwebs, dead spiders and dust... the beds are pressed up against the cobweb covered walls and the blankets are tucked tightly in there as well... the TV is so blurry you can't see anything on any channel... and theres only about 15 channels anyway... the toilet didnt flush well at all... both the AC and Heat DID NOT WORK... all the chairs and stools are extremely cracked and stained... there are cracks in all the walls... the lock on the door was even missing pieces... I will NOT be booking at this location ever again... I was so uncomfortable I sent my child to stay at my mothers... if it wasn't so late when my family finally got in from Ohio I would've asked for a refund!!!! I have never had this experience using the booking app...it's extremely unfortunate and embarrassing being that I intended on showing a friend around for their first time in Michigan

Room was on the first floor. window curtains did not close all the way. bathtub curtain rod was falling off the wall only being held up with caulk. furnace fan was very loud and the bed was extremely hard.

They charged me $50 fee on top of the fee for the hotel room without even telling me about it at check in! I discovered it when I looked at my credit card charges. When I asked them about it, they said it was a damage fee that would be refunded if everything in the room was ok when I left! So far I have seen no refund! I have never heard of such a fee! And why aren't they telling their customers at checkin that they are doing this. I will never stay here again. Absolutely not recommend!
